I Awoke as an Imprisoned Villainess-Chapter 14 - Sophia sama, is it to your taste?
Sophia sama, is it to your taste?
The handmaiden, Maria, asked Violet with a hint of trepidation.
This chapt𝓮r is updat𝒆d by ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom.
Violet looked at Sophia in the mirror silently. Her gently curled purple hair is in perfect harmony with the light blue dress she’s wearing, creating a bright and neat look.
“Quite good”
After Violet said this, Maria bowed deeply with relief. At first, she thought she wouldn’t know the ropes, but unexpectedly, she is a very attentive girl who notices details well. (*This is Violet’s thoughts about Maria)
(-Two weeks. Finally, this body is starting to look a little more presentable)
She look at Sophia in the mirror again, staring intently.
Her hair and skin has begun to glow, thanks to the daily grooming with special perfumed oils.
Her original face itself looks a bit dumb and plain, —but it’s in good shape now.
(If it’s like this, well, I think I can barely tolerate)
Be that as it may, there are still some imperfections.
Her figure in particular is poor, partly due to being thin, but well, it can be covered up with a good designer dress.
(More importantly, I wonder if Johannes, that knothole came to check on me yet) (*She had said Johannes have bad vision when he brought her honey as get-well gift.)
Two weeks. After getting Claude’s report, he would probably face ‘Violet’ who is acting like a whole different person, and ask on earth what she’s up to.
(Would that girl notice his health, ….understandably it wouldn’t be possible)
That girl is a self-taught apothecary, even if she has Arbuthnot blood running in her veins and studies medicine every day.
It’s probably difficult for a girl meeting him for the first time to tell he is sick, as he’s been educated as a royal to not let others know when he’s unwell. It’s already laudable if she feels something off.
I don’t expect anything to be done on that guy’s body which is still healthy.
There isn’t much I can hope from a girl who I’ve never met, and I can’t even give her direct instructions.
(Well, this is fine for now.—For now, that is)
The future where I let her work for me, hasn’t come.
As a reward, I’m changing her life to a much better one than before. Having done so much for her, she won’t be able to say no to anything Violet asks of her.
She look around the room. This spacious and sunny room was Julia’s until the other day, but now she changed it into Sophia’s.
Incidentally, she thought about moving Julia to the storage room that Sophia originally used, but since that room is full of Sophia’s personal belongings, and Julia was whining and crying, she let her off with a little bit of ridicule.
She must be in an empty room somewhere right now. Violet has a bit of soft spot for children.
Violet thought about the day the previous madam passed away, and the day Julia was born.
Adultery is a serious crime in this kingdom. Especially, if the child was born after leaving the wife who was in sick bed unattended—Julia couldn’t have been recognized as legitimate daughter. If it is about legality, that is.
However, such stories are so common that the commandment got reduced to a mere formality. Usually, if one were to bring this matter to the attention of the church, it would only be met with a vague smile and no investigation.
Knowing this, Isabella laughed mockingly, but when Violet mentioned the name of Sophia’s maternal family, Arbuthnot, her face grew a little tense.
It was a look as if she never expected Sophia to know of the Arbuthnot name.
“You guys are being this shameless because Arbuthnot family is not moving, right? But you know what? Making that family move is not a difficult thing for this Sophia Alcott. You know, I got tired of letting you guys do whatever you want~”
Not to mention church, Arbuthnots can move even the cathedral. (*Apparently, cathedral is a larger place to worship than church)
“As proof of this, didn’t a silver haired guy with a monocle named Maurice Graham Holt come to the mansion the other day to offer blessings for some reason? That man is a high rank priest in the cathedral, and he is on good terms with Arbuthnots.
She had originally ordered Maurice, whom she know well, to go to the Earl Alcott to give his blessing in advance before we swapped places.
He’s the kind of man who will do whatever Violet says, no matter how ridiculous it is. He’s kind of troublesome but very useful in a situation like this.
Violet smiled, mixing truths and lies well.
“Still, I can’t bear to drive out you guys as cheaters after living together for thirteen years. That’s why I haven’t told the Arbuthnots the truth yet…. — I’m thinking to get along with you guys if you guys do what I say. Ah- it’s okay if you don’t believe me; you can go ask the cathedral. But you wouldn’t want to get in trouble, saying the wrong thing, so I suggest you ask, ^Did Maurice Graham Holt come to give blessings under the orders of someone powerful?^ ”
Isabella, pale at Violet’s words, really went straight to the cathedral to check, and when she learned that it was true, she bit her lips in frustration.
After that, she confronted them with various other unforgivable crimes, and their souls were neatly broken.
Still they would occasionally look at her with hostility, so she told them to get their hands and bodies if they had the energy.
She asked Julia to embroider three hundred handkerchiefs, which would be needed two and a half months later. The designs were quite complicated, as Violet devised them. Violet checked each of the handkerchiefs herself on daily basic, and made her redo the ones that was not well done.
As for Isabella, she has decided to have her learn how to educate the servants to live up to her name as a countess.
Looking at the altitude towards Sophia from the servants, it can’t be helped if people say you have unsuitable knowledge to be a countess. She(*Violet) implied something like that and smiled, which made Isabella’s face twitch.
Even though you are a viscount’s daughter, if the education you had received as a noblewoman by birth isn’t enough, wouldn’t it be better for you to work as a servant and learn how servants feel? Like that, she(*Violet) gave advice thinking for the future.
Now Isabella sleeps and wakes in the same room with the servants and works with them.
It’s only supposed to be for a week, but I will extend it depending on how she behaves.
(The only one left, is the head of the Count Alcott family)
The past two weeks, he had been out inspecting the estate. He is exactly coming back today, so the decisive battle with him will be probably tonight.
(I heard he’s serious about his work but—I guess it’s easier if he’s a man who can make logical decisions)
Translator Notes:
Commas are so troublesome. I just don’t know the right place to put them. Especially, this Chapter had like long sentences. I changed Earl Alcott to Count Alcott too cause I don’t know the female title for the earl.
Violet is avenging for Sophia now, but she should make them suffer more. This happened on the first day they came to find trouble with Violet I think. They were such b******.
(P.s. Just some info so people can expect when I post. I usually translate at night before going to bed. I think my posting time would span from 10 to 2, gmt+6:30. But of course, there would be some exceptions maybe.)
