I Am Your Natural Enemy-Chapter 684 - 263: Clear Cut Distinction, Diverting Trouble Eastward (5k)
"Wait a second." Wen Yan thought for a moment, then asked, "What do you mean by Zhang Family Main House?"
"Just what it says on the tin."
Feng Yao considered his words, and felt like things were getting a bit confusing.
"As for the Celestial Master Mansion, although every generation is headed by a Celestial Master Zhang, the surname Zhang isn't passed down to their own descendants.
Except for those who were originally surnamed Zhang, among all the past Celestial Masters, only the first two generations' descendants kept the Zhang surname.
Their descendants are the Zhang Family Main House."
This guy named Zhang Qihui—how should I put it, even back in Nanwu County, I've heard of him.
He's one of the few from the Zhang Family Main House whose name I actually remember.
Supposedly, his talent is pretty decent—though he's still a little ways off from being a real candidate to inherit as the next Celestial Master.
But looking at the whole Celestial Master Mansion, he's at least top three of his generation.
It's just that this guy's a bit unruly, he's under strict orders not to claim he's from the Celestial Master Mansion.
Actually, very few people even know he's a disciple of the Celestial Master Mansion.
I only found out because Minister Cai brought it up last time.
Hard to say—such a genius; how did he turn out so unorthodox?"
"How unorthodox are we talking?"
"Uh, I mean, do you think he went all the way to Southern Sea County, and out from Cape of the Sea, onto a yacht, to do what?"
"With you saying it like that, I guess we can rule out fishing… tsk, this guy plays that wild?"
"He really doesn't seem like someone from the Celestial Master Mansion—he looks more like some rich heir outside who doesn't bother with a business."
"Oh, no wonder he acts like that. They're just not letting him claim the mansion's name."
"You heading to Southern Sea County?"
"I'll go take a look. Oh, by the way, remember to sign your name on the new registration file I just filed for, so I can get an ID card."
"Alright, got it."
Feng Yao looked over the registration documents, then glanced through Mo Shishi's records from before her death, sighed, and altered parts of the data just a bit. All the photos of Mo Shishi were also tweaked a little, just enough to make it look like two different people.
He's seen the Scorching Sun Department's files; for a demonic corpse to end up like this, he really should count himself lucky.
Based on past records, when a demonic corpse turns up, nothing good ever comes of it.
And usually, it always ends with a suppression operation in the end.
But for a demonic corpse like Mo Shishi, there's not even anyone among the Three Mountains and Five Ridges willing to step up—they're too worried about karmic backlash and ruining their cultivation path.
By his own assessment, there's no way he could control or handle this; all he can do is play dumb and act like he doesn't know.
The Scorching Sun Department is the last department that should be dealing with affairs like this—just like with this demonic corpse.
Entities like this, not human, are a real headache for the Scorching Sun Department.
Other than having Scorching Sun Department take the person away, anything else is negotiable.
Wen Yan hung up, and called Feng Wei.
He was actually a bit embarrassed lately: every time he had to go out for work, he needed Feng Wei to open the road for him.
But he simply didn't know the skill himself. For now, Old Zhao's Family was the only permanent fixed big intersection he knew about.
He could walk the Nether Path, but that didn't mean he could go elsewhere at will.
"Hey, Feng Wei, quick question—can I get to Southern Sea County? And what about Cape of the Sea?"
"You can, but you can't go out to sea right now. I heard from the Prince that things on the water aren't too safe these days."
"I've got some business over there."
"Be right there."
Ten minutes later, Feng Wei came out of Old Zhao's Family house, and Tong Si was still tagging along.
Seeing Wen Yan watching him, Tong Si grinned and said,
"I've got nothing else to do—figured I'd help out. Last time we were on the Nether Path, I noticed it seemed a little less safe than before."
Wen Yan nodded and said nothing.
At least Tong Si wasn't your run-of-the-mill ghost; the guy had sharp eyes and was probably worried about something happening to Feng Wei.
Wen Yan didn't rush things. He pulled Feng Wei and Tong Si over to chat for a while, had some tea, and snacked a bit.
It was hard to come by food infused with Yang Energy anywhere else.
They dawdled until almost sundown before heading out.
After exiting the Nether Path, Wen Yan looked off into the distance. He really could sense that the Nether Path had changed a bit, without him even realizing it.
The main road was noticeably wider than before.
It's only because he passed by so often that he picked up on the difference.
No telling what changes will come with the Nether Path getting wider.
After walking for another ten minutes, they exited from an old desolate tomb. The sun had already fallen below the horizon, and looking out, the sea and sky merged, drawing a clear arc.
Wen Yan took out his phone to check his GPS.
"I'll have to head out to sea in a bit. If you guys don't have anything else, feel free to poke around here tonight."
"We've got nothing urgent."
Wen Yan didn't hurry to go to sea right away; since he was already in the area, he checked his distance from another target, and it wasn't too far.
Following the road, he walked for more than twenty minutes and arrived at a beach.
This wasn't an untamed beach, but a managed and maintained one—closed to the public after dark.
By the time Wen Yan got there, there were hardly any people around. He glanced at Tong Si.
"In a second, help me distract the patrol here—just make them ignore us."
"Uh… that's not really by the book, is it?"
Wen Yan shot Tong Si a sideways look, then glanced at Feng Wei.
Tong Si instantly deflated; fine, after breaking the rules before, it's a bit late for him to play the good guy now.
They waited another ten minutes or so—once the coast was clear, Tong Si's grim-eyes manifested. He raised his hand, waved it in front of the patrolmen's eyes, and the patrol just ignored Wen Yan and went about their business.
The cameras were all covered in a layer of fog, screening out whatever was about to happen here.
