I Am Your Natural Enemy-Chapter 442 - 183: Purification of Earth City, Data Loading (5k)_3
The steward also gave him a report: during the days he was out, Fu Guangfei came by twice, brought some supplies, and insisted the tracker was essential. There were also two types of talismans, said to be highly effective against Ghosts.
There are better options, and there are Big Killers, but the kind that only require Yang Energy to activate, no altar needed, there’s only so many of those, and their power is generally low.
The ones with low entry barriers yet great power are all high-level goods, extremely hard to produce.
Among them is a Five Thunders Talisman, handcrafted by the Old Celestial Master. It only needs Yang Energy to use, but it’s so difficult to make that the Old Celestial Master doesn’t even have many. This one was delivered personally for Wen Yan’s protection.
After finishing his rest and replenishing supplies, Wen Yan set out once again.
He emerged again through the graveyard passage. Earth City remained unchanged, deathly still. Wen Yan led his people, packs on their backs, out through another city gate, pressing on.
He’d sensed it before—while fighting that War Soul, a Ghost had left through this very gate, likely to report back.
He hadn’t cared at the time, actually needed them to draw out the direction.
Now he was moving forward again, curious to see if he’d find anything more.
...
Western Region County: vast lands, sparse population. After leaving the closest airport, Qin Kun drove with his team, flooring it all the way down the highway. People rested, but the car never stopped—chasing hard, following the latest trail.
This isn’t like the city, with cameras everywhere. Out here, it’s often hundreds of kilometers of wilderness or desert—having a road at all means massive investment. Streetlights and cameras? Pure fantasy, not something even the rich would splurge for.
The target was being pushed ever westward. No cameras, but there are satellites. In this low-density wilderness, locking in their rough position and direction wasn’t exactly hard.
Seven hours later, out in the barren Gobi, Qin Kun stepped out of the car, eyes fixed on the distant figure, battle intent and Yang Energy beginning to surge within him.
The man opposite was expressionless, eyes cold. Black substance boiled across his skin, instantly forming inky black armor. A chilling, murderous aura became black flames, burning silently on his body.
"So it really is a Cult’s War Soul. All of you, move back! Get in the car and stick on every talisman you brought."
With a barked warning, Qin Kun grinned savagely, bones cracking. In a sudden burst, he charged like a dump truck, carrying a terrifying momentum.
The War Soul screamed a battle cry, didn’t dodge, and charged right back.
The moment they collided, Qin Kun’s expression shifted.
The War Soul’s armor, as if liquefied petroleum, flowed up Qin Kun’s arm, while the person inside the armor was blasted back, pupils dilating midair—dead before hitting the ground.
The black armor turned to black oil, spreading rapidly up Qin Kun’s arm, then forming again into black armor, encasing Qin Kun completely.
Yang Energy and murderous aura collided violently. In Qin Kun’s mind, he stood at the edge of a lush, birdsong-filled forest—Scorching Sunshine poured down. On the other side, a figure in black armor charged at him, with darkness devouring the world behind him.
"Trying to possess me?!"
Qin Kun erupted in rage, flames in his eyes. Cracks appeared all over his body as the internal fire threatened to explode, his eyes glowing blood-red.
"I am Qin Kun, of Fuyu Mountain!
Even if I have no talent for cultivation and can only walk the Martial Path,
You actually dare try to forcibly possess me, on my own turf?!
Where do you get the nerve!"
Qin Kun burst into full blaze. With his fury, the peaceful, birdsong-filled world was instantly overrun by dark clouds and roaring thunder.
In the forest, every tree and leaf exploded outward like bristling fur.
The earth trembled, magma burst forth, turning into columns of fire shooting skyward.
He crouched, wild beast-like, sprinted forward. Even his body grew larger and more imposing as he moved.
Lightning danced in his eyes. He snatched his hands out, grabbed columns of earthfire as if they were whips, pulled them into his hands.
He was a Martial Artist, nearly the strongest of his generation, step by step, solidly forged—his willpower unmatched.
A so-called War Soul—just a Ghost in essence—and it dared try to possess him! That was even worse than shitting on his head, a supreme humiliation.
In his own mind, he became a giant, drawing on the world’s power, commanding thunder and fire, steamrolling forward.
He seized the War Soul in one massive hand, ripping it and the infested darkness right out, crushing them together. Thunder fire raged, kneading and compressing them endlessly.
If not for needing information, within his consciousness alone, punks like this would never shake his will; he’d crush them without a second thought.
After suppressing it, the black armor covering Qin Kun’s body peeled away, the darkness in his grip compressing further and further until it became a black iron sphere.
Qin Kun held the sphere and sneered, then pulled out his phone.
"I’m completely sure—no way this thing’s ever been active in our era. Dumb as hell. Tried to possess me at first contact. Bet it’s never even seen a Martial Artist before."
If the other side had any clue, they’d know that Martial Artists at Qin Kun’s level have iron wills—often even tougher than Taoists. Possessing them is impossible.
Worst-case scenario, it’s ’better shattered jade than intact tiles.’
A few hours later, the various experts of the Scorching Sun Department gathered and, after discussing and analyzing, came to a preliminary conclusion.
"This is actually a kind of power—our guess is it’s pure power, something that can be brought out.
The War Soul’s consciousness is attached to the power, so it too can be brought out.
It’s like... data.
Only data can be transmitted from the Netherworld. When that data is loaded onto a living host, the other side can descend from the Netherworld into the living world in reverse."
