I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 48: Making grape wine
Chapter 48: Making grape wine
By the time the two of them reached home, it was almost two p.m. Ravi started to unload the things in the cart as the cat watched him awkwardly by the door of the pantry.
"Go and watch TV in the living room, you are distracting me." He said after five minutes. Each time, he carried the things he would be careful not to hit the little black and white lump at the door.
The moment they had reached home, the cat had returned to its previous larger kitten look. Ravi wondered what would happen when the cat returned to its human form. As a police officer and a responsible human being, he would have to report it to the police bureau, just in case there is a family that is terribly missing their child, and if there is not, at least report to child services for them to look for a more responsible home for the child, with a family.
He needed school and his age mates to be around. He looked in the direction where the cat was watching an animated movie, his whole focus on the television.
Let him not think about that right now.
He put the meat and other frozen goods in the freezer and arranged the snacks in the lower drawer in the kitchen. He took the juice boxes and other snacks to the child’s room. After keeping it in the drawers there, he looked outside the window. The grapes were already ready, they were even a little overripe. It was not just the grapes in the orchard, the vegetables in the backyard next to the strawberry bush also caught his eye.
The tomatoes, cucumbers, and radishes were all very fat and looking at him begging to be harvested. The corn too. His gas grill. He wanted to eat some grilled corn and roasted pears.
That 10 grams of sugar might have already been sold the gas grill to another person. He picked up his phone and sent a message before he read some of his colleagues’ messages, a smile dancing on his lips.
Tom was very reasonable, asking him to take a long rest before returning as they do not have any bug cases.
Draco wished for him not to come back again. It seemed like he had recovered a bit since that night. And to say the cause of that night was watching animations in his living room.
Ravi kept his phone away.
"I am in the orchard." He said loudly to the cat in the living room before he transformed a fork into a hat. It had been particularly sunny since he woke up.
Wasn’t spring here a little too fast? It was two weeks ahead of when the weather forecast predicted that it would come.
Ravi tied the apron across his waste, taking the large basket to the veranda. He passed the vegetable garden and strawberry bush to the orchard deep down. Opening the small gate, what greeted him was the jujube tree.
They had grown even larger, their leaves were beautiful, and the outermost area was very green. He reached out and plucked one. It was so juicy and sweet. He had never been a huge fruit of this fruit but now he was seeing the appeal, was he getting old? He plucked another dark red fruit and tried it before heading inside to the star of the show.
The grapes.
The huge grape tree bore more than twenty bunches of grapes. Its color was a deep, beautiful purple. Just last week, the grapes were green but now they had already turned purple.
They had already matured. He put one in his mouth and slightly winced.
"Too sweet." He began to pick them, filling his basket with the fruits. He grew taller to reach the utmost fruits, using a pair of scissors to gently nip the bunch of grapes before returning to his length and dropping it in the basket.
He carried the large basket to the backyard and transformed a small basket to put some grapes for the cat. He put some grapes in the fridge for any desert desires he might have before returning to the backyard with a sinister expression.
"Hahahahah!"
The cat inside shivered before it leaped to the window where it saw the weird, powerful man laughing to himself in the middle of the backyard. Has he finally run mad?
It was finally time to make it. To make wine.
He took out the huge bowl and switched on the pipe to fill it up with water. He then bent done and began to carefully wash the grapes.
When it came to making wine, it was the only thing that Ravi could make for hours without a single complaint. He had found wine in his twentieth year in the Sentinel Realm and it had become a friend, a solace, and a comfort.
Grape wine was one of the easiest wines to make.
It took twenty minutes for him to wash all the grapes, taking care to remove any dirt or leaves.
When he was done, he transferred the grapes to the second bowl. By now, the cat had left the living room and made its way to the backyard, watching him from a distance.
"This is not for you. Yours is in the kitchen. You can only drink wine when you are 21 years old." He took out a potato masher and began to crush the grapes. Crushing grapes was therapeutic, when he remembered that the Captain had not even asked how he was doing, the potato mashes landed soundly in the bowl of grapes.
After he transferred the grapes and juice to a large clean jar before he covered it with a clean cloth. He had to let this precious mixture sit for a day before he worked on it. He cleaned the large bowls and placed them on the veranda to dry before he used a towel to wipe his sweat.
"Ah! I need a bath."
He then headed to the vegetable garden.
"Come here."
The cat watched him warily for a second but still walked towards him. Let us not skip his basic education when he is here.
"What do you know about agriculture?"
