Chapter 301: How many minutes to go?

The wonderful, mind-blowing three-day sex Ravi had been dreaming of in his head did not end up happening, but it was not that bad, considering that he was not the only one being blue-balled.

Madame Sinclair had assigned Anouk so much cleanup duty. ’It is your mess,’ that Anouk had barely any time to see Malik.

"I wish I could just smite her." A forlorn voice sounded in his mind.

"Yes, because violence is ever the answer." He responded as he wondered if he could also smite Anouk for dragging Arlen along.

It has been a week since they returned to Davenport, and it was as if they had never even left. No nest had opened in Davenport, and the townspeople had just continued with their lives. Ravi was glad that his shield had worked because he had no intention of building another house and fixing it up again.

Asher had gone back to school, and Sage had gone back to his workshop. Lana had rented a lab not far from the police station and stayed there holed up all day creating what she believed would be the miracle wonder drug for the next century. Of course, this meant that Malik had just too much free time on his hands that he had nothing to do with.

"Go to work. Don’t you have students to teach? People to counsel? Research papers to publish?"

"No need, my partner is rich." Malik said.

Ravi rolled his eyes. "Ah! The joys of being a kept boyfriend."

He did not mind Malik’s steady stream of conversation.

Ravi looked at the picture on his table; it was a photograph of him and Lisa at a coffee shop in the capital. They were both laughing brightly.

Lisa was much better. She had not only gotten therapy, but she had also transferred to the Narcotics Division in the capital.

"These elites need someone like me." She had told him, "I am done with Violent Crimes."

Ravi had just nodded and listened as she told him every good thing that had happened to her since she left Davenport and every thing as well. She had complained about rent and the high cost of living in the capital.

"7000 dollars, and it is the size of my living room when I was in Davenport. However, they have a gym and a mall inside the building. It is insane."

Of course, it would be small, with the mall and gym. Was there any space for the residents to live? But Ravi did not mention that part, slowly sipping his coffee.

He did not ask her why she, who loved quiet places, had moved to one of the noisiest residences in the area, and he did not ask her about Draco. He just listened and smiled.

They had fun. He smiled at the picture one more time, adjusting it carefully.

"Do you miss her?" Sarah said as she looked into his book.

Ravi’s hand fell back on his keyboard. "Well, it has been a bit quiet lately."

Sarah chuckled, "You know you can say you miss her. It would not ruin this mysterious aesthetic you have going on."

"Mysterious Aesthetics?" Ravi blinked and then started laughing. What on earth was Sarah talking about now? "If you are going to the storeroom, please help me put these files in the room." Ravi said down to carry the bundle of files he had been working on since morning.

Sarah helped him out; she carried the bundle. "You know. You are the only one without a partner now. Sergeant Smith said that some interns would be joining us soon, so you can just pick a partner from one of them."

Does he look like someone particular enough to train a rookie? "No thanks."

"You don’t have any choice. You are the new trainer." Tom’s voice sounded hoarse. He had probably just finished smoking at the back. "We are understaffed. Our five-person team is barely a three-person team, and our captain is in the capital."

Ravi swallowed his ’You are not dead, so why are you not counting yourself.’

"We need help, and we need someone to train the rookies."

"Officer Adams can do that, or Draco, didn’t you say yesterday that he has shown the most improvement out of all of us? Or we can’t wait. The captain is coming back soon; he can..." Ravi paused. No way. He barely had any time with his boyfriend for him to give out the very little time that he had.

"He can’t. It is not the captain’s job to watch over some disasters in the making."

"You are right. I would do it." Ravi stood up and headed to the coffee station.

Tom watched him with eyes filled with suspicion. "Hmm. Why don’t I trust you all of a sudden?"

Ravi turned to face him and smiled while drinking from his cup slowly.

"Shut up and go in." Draco’s voice sounded extremely exasperated as he pushed a middle-aged man into the office.

The middle-aged man stumbled in and, seeing Tom, smiled happily, "Tom. How are you doing?" He tried to reach for a hug, but Tom pushed him back.

"Really, Frank. By 3pm."

"It is never too late to hit the pub."

Sarah came out of the store and took one look at Frank sighing, "Didn’t the doctor tell you to watch out for your liver."

"F*ck those doctors. What do they know? You only live once."

"I am so bored!" Draco said as he slumped into his chair.

Ravi could feel a headache coming in, one more hour and he can happily rush back home. What should he make for dinner? He checked his phone, Arlen had not replied yet. He must be very busy. He wondered if he could sneak in and find him.

"Ravi, are you listening to me?"

Ravi nodded, "Yes, yes. You are so bored. You can swear that Lisa is having more fun than us in her new work place. If Lisa is here, it would not be this boring. You miss her. Bla Bla."

Draco’s cheeks went suspiciously red and he coughed, "What are you saying? I never said that."

"You didn’t? I must be hearing this. Sorry." 54 minutes to go home.
