I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 218: Marcus Thompson
Chapter 218: Marcus Thompson
Why did it feel like they were fugitives hiding from the law? Ravi chuckled as he watched Arlen have breakfast in the car. They were around five minutes away from the bureau, around the central area. Arlen had parked the Audi well so he could have breakfast.
"You know, you would better enjoy it at your desk?"
"I just don’t want to share the food with anyone." Arlen murmured as he raised the dumpling to his lips. The skin was soft and thin and the meat with the soup was just delicious. He ate one dumpling in one bite and extended his chopsticks towards the next one with a grin.
Ravi’s lips twitched, even after his entire, ’you didn’t have to’, ’it must have been so stressful cooking with the ongoing case’, he still ate the food as if intoxicated.
Ravi smiled, to think that someday, he would receive so much joy from feeding someone.
"Did you put the equipment in yesterday? Did it go well?" Ravi asked when Arlen was about to extend his chopstick for another dumpling.
Arlen nodded, "I have got enough for an interrogation with the owner of the Club. After the preliminary meeting, we will meet the manager."
"Video surveillance."
"Extremely clear." Arlen said. This was not like the poor resolution surveillance tape that filled this city. The video feedback he had gotten was so clear, you could see the pores in some of the customer’s faces and the audio was so clear, he could even separate the voices if he so wished. The GhostEye was still online and his laptop was getting the live footage, the only pity was that Victor LaGrin had not been present in the club yesterday.
"Arlen." Ravi called him and Arlen turned to face him.
"Yes, love."
"Arlen..." He stopped, not knowing exactly how to phrase the words that had plagued his thought all through yesterday.
"What is wrong?"
Ravi smiled at him, "Min sol, could you be careful when handling this case? More careful than usual."
Arlen sighed, "I guess my track record has caused you to worry." He knew that he was the kind to jump first before asking what kind of liquid was in the pool. He put the chopsticks in the thermos and reached out to hold Ravi’s hand. He gently grazed his fingertips along the edge of Ravi’s joints as if he was carefully tracing the outline.
"I understand. I don’t want to leave you a widower after all."
The familiar joke made Ravi chuckle and he looked at Arlen, "You shouldn’t. I do not look good in black."
Arlen laughed, "I promise. I would be careful so my beautiful boyfriend would not have to dress in black for me."
Ravi chuckled and leaned to kiss Arlen.
It was crazy. They had just kissed a few minutes ago and yet Ravi felt like he had waited for too long, like his throat was parched to the extreme, leading him to seek for a way to quench his thirst.
Their lips touched quietly and he pulled back. A second later, as if they could not bear to part but had to seek deeper, the kiss turned more passionately, with more vigor, prying each other’s lips and plunging inside. The sweetness seems even stronger than before. It reminded Ravi of aged wine, rich, mellow and all so addicting.
He moved closer, almost moving over to the driver’s seat. Arlen’s lips were intoxicating. Completely intoxicating him.
And he was so warm.
Normally, Arlen who wrestles control but he seems pliant, letting his lips be kissed by Ravi as much as he wanted. He was consoling him, using this clumsy method to comfort him and it made Ravi even more thirsty. He caught his lower lip between his teeth and pulled it in his mouth to taste him, to tease him, to suckle and bite and nibble until the flesh turned even warmer in his mouth. Ravi could hear a sweet buzzing in his ears as he felt his control even more. His hands ran Arlen’s shirt, he could feel it, the heavy, hard ridge of arousal was unmistakable.
He pulled away, panting shallowly and looked at Arlen. This was hell, he had not had sex for so long without any problem and now, it was like he could not wait to combust in this flame.
Arlen smiled and reached out to caress his hair, "After the case. I will show you some new moves I have learnt." He raised Ravi’s hand to his lips. A promise.
Ravi suddenly blushed and coughed, "The dumplings have gone cold."
"I can heat it up." Arlen enjoyed the look on his face, who would believe that this was the same person who had taken control in such an irresistible way, he looked at that luscious mouth and looked away.
"I have more self control than this." Ravi sighed, causing Arlen to burst out laughing.
"I am serious." His mind could be as cold as ice, as he waited for the best time to make his move. He normally had more self control than this, really.
"Well, it is me after all. Look at me, how could you resist this gorgeous face?"
Ravi burst out laughing, his shoulder shook as he tried to stifle his laughter. He rolled his eyes, "Sure and do not forget the body too."
The two of them laughed but did not attempt any more kissing. They soon arrived at the station and were the second and third people to arrive.
Sarah was already there, having a burrito at her desk. The time was 7:32 am but Sarah had always been very punctual because of school run.
According to her, her daughter’s did Day Prep before the school started so students were expected to come to school by 7 am. Once she dropped her child, she would come straight to work, not seeing any use in going back home.
"Good morning, Captain Sinclair, Officer West. Captain, the night team left a file on your desk, they did some investigation into our case."
It turns out that the Night team had done a very good job investigating. One of the officers had moved over from the financial crimes unit to Davenport for a continuous salary. Unlike other government agencies that had their retirement age at 60, the police had theirs as 65. It was completely normal for civil servants to try to jump to other agencies when they start reaching near age for retirement.
Arlen did not wait for the team to get to work before he mobilized the two op;e already present to follow the lead, "We have a hit on the shell company. It is linked to one businessman Marcus Thompson. We have his address, let us bring him in for questioning."
They suited up and entered the car. Ravi uncharacteristically asked to drive and Sarah and Arlen were left facing each other.
The three of them got down in front of the building and walked towards where the house was located. Arlen looked back at them and seeing the two of them were alert, he stepped forward and knocked on the door.
He heard a woman’s voice from inside, "Who is it?"
Even though she asked, she did not wait for a reply, opening the door soon after. The woman looked to be in her early thirties and had just come back from the gym or exercise. She was wearing a sports bra and leggings and when she saw them, she raised an eyebrow.
"My name is Arlen Sinclair. We are from the Davenport Police Bureau. May we come in? We are here to ask some questions about an ongoing police investigation. Please cooperate."
The woman nodded and stepped in, leaving the door open for the three of them to walk in one after the other.
Arlen looked around the environment, the house was not extravagant, the decoration style was simple and elegant.
"Sit down. What do you want? Tea? Water? Coffee? I only have green coffee though."
"No need to trouble you." Arlen said and the woman sat on the sofa opposite them.
"We have a few questions. This is the residence of Marcus Thompson, correct?"
The woman nodded, "My name is Gigi. I am his daughter. I forgot to change the name of the building. It is mine now, my father gave it to me. Is anything the problem, I am sure I paid all the taxes and my father has already paid off the mortgage."
"We are actually your father, Mr Marcus Thompson. We have a few questions for him."
The woman looked at him with both confusion and slight suspicion, she stood up, "You said you were the place. Can I see your badge?"
Arlen passed it to her and she took it hesitantly.
"You can also go online to the place’s website to confirm."
She picked up her phone and checked, her eyes darting from the screen to him. After she took a deep breath, "Officer, my father is dead. He has been dead for over a year."
