I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 203: Mansy
Chapter 203: Mansy
The woman’s expression was calm and controlled and even her laughter seemed like it was carefully calculated but at this moment she could not help the immense shock that flashed in her face.
"Mr West. Why did you choose Bayside Academy?" She asked him, interest peaking in her eyes. She had only approached this man because of her young miss’s request but now, she was genuinely interested, was there anyone who did not know of the Bayside Academy? Sure, it was not as popular as the Apex Academy but which school is? Not every school could be backed with funding from the Sinclair family.
Ravi rubbed his chin, he needed information and maybe a little connection. It was not just him and not everything could be handled through sheer strength or through the corners by Malik, "Convenience. Not only was it close to home, but the entrance examination was just in time for Ash to start the new session. The Bayside Academy is that popular, even the branch here?"
Mansy interlocked her fingers, "Mr West. Two out of the top ten ranked heroes in Avalon are Bayside graduates. They have one of the best mutant training programs and many graduates are guaranteed intern spots in Superheroes teams from the HA."
The Hero Association. Ravi did not know that, but that was not his plan for Asher. He paused, no, that was a wrong train of thought, he had no desire to control his ward’s future career part.
"Even for non-mutants, there is a 100% College Acceptance rate from Bayside. Their academic curriculum is the best."
Ravi nodded pleased, he looked around, "That means what a lot of parents here have their eyes on is the mutant program."
"Yes. The main school accepts only 50 students every year. Those that did not get in have to try branch schools. The little miss was sick on the day of the Entrance Examination so she had to come here."
"You look confident."
"Of course. She would be number one." Her voice did not have any doubt as she said them, she truly believed from the bottom of her heart that there was no one here stronger than her little miss who had various teachers since she was a child.
"Okay." Ravi said unconcerned, as his mind searched for another question to ask this ready source of answers in front of him, "Is there any other thing to know about the school? Any unwritten school rules?"
"There are tons but they don’t really matter if you are strong. Either as a mutant or academically, your son can just focus on his work and he doesn’t need to mind anyone. So you don’t have to worry."
Does he look worried? If there was something Asher could not handle, wasn’t he still here? Isn’t there Malik, Sage and even Lana who Ravi had no doubt would get a position in this school with her blinding resume? And if none of them could solve it, wasn’t there still his lover? He was the farthest away from being worried.
"Mr West. Are you sure you are an ordinary police officer?"
Ravi looked at her, "If I am not a police officer, then what should I be? I assure you I am an ordinary police officer at the Davenport Police Bureau, the small town not far from here."
"Okay. They should be done with the first examination for now." Mansy said and sure enough, a large black electronic board appeared from nowhere floating in the middle of the waiting hall.
There were 297 names on the board. The last 197 names were written in black ink, and 90 names were in white ink. 7 names were in purple, one was in bronze, one, silver and in large font, a name shone in entire gold.
Elene Crane.
"Crane? From the Crane family, what are they doing here?"
Ravi took out his phone to browse the name. The Crane family, they were worth 750 million dollars. He turned to look at the woman who was smiling calmly at him.
"She is your young miss."
Mansy nodded her head.
"Congratulations, then." Ravi said unconcernedly as he began to search for Asher’s name on the board, why was his heart suddenly pounding?
Asher West was there in purple lettering.
"I believe it is too early for congratulations, Mr West. There are still four more examinations to go."
The nanny was not joking at all, Ravi rested his head on his hand as the hours crept by, when he was bored, he would look up at the list, smiling at the name which had moved from the last purple rank to the top purple rank.
Some parents had gone, some were helping themselves to the extensive buffet and others were discussing the children on the rank. Ravi pulled his face cap down as he lazily looked around, he did not speak and thankfully the woman did not pull him into any conversation.
Elene Crane was still the undisputable number one, even after three examinations had gone by.
They are currently taking the fourth examination. It was the physical studies and it would be done via Visual Reality according to Mansy. The school had not been lying when they had said that it possessed cutting-edge resources indeed.
His phone dinged and he took it out, his cold expression warming to a smile, one that shocked the woman sitting next to him.
’How is it going?"
"They are still writing their exams. There is in the fourth one?"
There was the sticker of someone falling over his seat, "Four? Are they preparing for civil service?"
Ravi chuckled, "Beats me. According to the nanny next to me, they might as well be, she had a lot of things to say about the school. I have no idea, the school was that prestigious."
"Well, Bayside is good. It is no Apex though?"
"Apex?" Ravi felt like his messages were a bit too formal, so he searched and downloaded a sticker pack. Looking through the tens of stickers, he chose one of a cat tilting his head in confusion.
"My high school. It is the best in the country." Arlen sent another sticker, one that made him grin.
Ravi was not surprised, "Just how many exams did you have to take to get in?"
Four, six, Ravi decided to put his money on ten.
Tying...
Typing...
Was he busy, what had he been typing for more than ten minutes? In the end, there was a sticker of a cute puppy hiding under the bed, "I did not need to take any exams. My family owns the school."
Ravi paused, and read it over and over again before gritting his teeth. Rich people really make someone’s teeth ache.
