Dr. Zong Fang's hands trembled, and his eyes reddened.

A commotion suddenly arose from the crowd as Dr. Zong Fang, like a madman, drew a weapon from a Federation official. Everyone thought he was refusing to accept the verdict and was about to resist. As people screamed and scattered in all directions, and some rushed forward to restrain him, Dr. Zong Fang took a dagger and slashed his own palm.

The crowd was stunned, watching his bizarre actions in shock.

The man looked at his blood-covered hand and slowly collapsed to his knees, powerless.

"Qiaoqiao..."

Dr. Zong Fang watched the wound on his hand heal itself, almost grinding his molars to pieces. His heart felt as if it were being eaten by a thousand ants. He closed his eyes and a tear rolled down.

She didn't even want her Talent anymore...

She truly didn't want him anymore.

Outside the crowd, across the street, Ruka held an umbrella, his left shoulder already soaked. He tilted the umbrella again toward the slender figure.

"Won't you say a word to him?" Ruka asked.

Qiao Suisui bowed her head, concealing the struggle in her eyes. She understood Zong Fang, knew that if she let him see her now, the two of them would reconcile. To avoid leaving her, he would never obediently comply with the verdict. But this was a hard-won opportunity; with his abilities, he could finish his military service in no more than two years.

Worried about the dangers of the Southern Battlefield, she consulted the System and decided to format her Talent column, spending 1000 points in the process. This meant that if she wanted to go home in the future, she would have to endure the frustrating cycle of constant childbearing. Fortunately, Zong Fang's Talent had returned to him.

Ruka saw her spirits were low, switched the umbrella to his other hand, and then slowly took hers, interlocking their fingers.

"Let's go home," he said.

Qiao Suisui nodded silently and looked across the street one last time before she left, pausing for a long while.

This time, they were separated by the rain, by the street, by a longing that spanned mountains and seas, by love that had no chance to be expressed. In the end, they walked in two different directions.

Suddenly, Dr. Zong Fang seemed to sense something and stopped in his tracks, turning back to look beyond the crowd, but he did not see the figure he had hoped for.

His eyes red, he gazed into the distance through the veil of rain, his lips slightly parting. The man whispered something faintly, but it was drowned out by the flashes of cameras and the noise of the crowd.

"Wait for me."

...

After Ruka brought Qiao Suisui back to the Imperial Court, he made her take a warm bath to prevent a cold, dried her long hair, and watched her pinch her nose to drink a bowl of hot ginger soup before he felt somewhat relieved. He then left under the pretense of military business, but his Flying Ship headed in the opposite direction of the Military Department.

...

"4317?"

An Emu Beastman in command of a group that was to serve in the military loudly called out their numbers.

"Where's 4317?"

The Emu Beastman searched with his round eyes and finally spotted the man marked with the number 4317 in a corner of the Flying Ship, his back turned to him, gazing out the window.

The Emu Beastman strode up to him, impatiently kicked him, and said,

"Hey! Are you deaf? It's your turn to get ready to disembark!"

As he spoke, the other man turned his head slowly and nonchalantly, his stunning profile startling the Emu. Then, the man turned around completely. His cold Silver Eyes, devoid of any emotion, looked straight at the Emu, who felt as though he had died a thousand times in that instant, his blood running cold.

Wait a minute!

Silver hair... Silver Eyes...

The Emu collapsed to his knees with a 'thud', his voice trembling like a sieve.

"Dr. Dr. Dr... Dr. Zong Fang, I'm one of us, the, the Prime Minister ordered, you must be well taken care of..."

Dr. Zong Fang glanced at him indifferently and continued to stare out the window in a daze, without uttering a word.

This drove Emu to desperation, wondering how he could deliver the next several people without the living father descending. Could it be that he would have to take him on a round trip and then back to the Federation?

While hesitating, someone hurriedly ran over and whispered a report in his ear.

Emu's face turned grim. His eyes darted left and right, and then, bending his waist, he walked over to Dr. Zong Fang and said with an ingratiating smile, "Dr. Zong Fang, someone is looking for you outside."

Upon hearing this, Dr. Zong Fang looked startled, and a burst of excitement ignited in his normally lifeless eyes. He seemed to come back to life, stood up abruptly, and took large strides off the Flying Ship. But upon seeing the visitor, the light in his eyes died.

"Why is it you?"

Seeing that his gaze was still searching, Ruka said indifferently, "I came on my own, stop looking."

The Silver Eyes sank into dead silence once more.

Dr. Zong Fang turned to leave but heard Ruka's voice come from behind, "She revealed her own identity just to save you."

His steps halted, and he swiftly turned around, frowning at Ruka, "Why didn't you stop her?"

Ruka just looked at him, and after a long while, let out a sigh.

"Zong Fang, when will you understand that she is a person with her convictions, thoughts, and feelings, not someone's possession. What you and I can rely on is just her bit of affection for us. Even though she has born the child of you and me, she is still herself. Before being a lover, a mother, she is first and foremost Qiao Suisui."

Dr. Zong Fang bowed his head, his fists clenched tight, his eyes filled with repressed regret.

"I know... I know that... I just..." His throat felt as if filled with a thousand pounds of cotton, so choked up he struggled to speak.

Ruka calmly told him about all the effort Qiao Suisui had recently made for him, leaving Dr. Zong Fang almost gasping for breath.

He covered his eyes with the palms of his hands, trying to force the tears back, but his trembling fingertips betrayed his emotional collapse. His once bright eyes were now tinged red with physiological tears, and a man who once stood so proud was crouched in front of the Flying Ship, weeping uncontrollably. Every word from Ruka pierced the weakest part of Dr. Zong Fang's heart, filling him with extreme remorse.

Would she be in pain?

Would she hurt like he did?

He certainly loved her...

And she was the one he cherished the most.

But his love was like a sword, piercing through the hearts of both.

"If you weren't so extreme in your actions, perhaps your relationship with her would be in a different state now," Ruka said, hoping he would really think things over.

Before leaving, he tossed a military box in front of him.

"The Southern Battlefield is fraught with danger. Everything inside here is essential. Suisui may not say it, but she is very worried about you. If you love her, come back like a man should."

After speaking, Ruka didn't linger any longer. He walked away but heard Dr. Zong Fang ask in a hoarse voice from behind, "Why are you helping me?"

His expression was complex, and with incomprehension, he said, "It won't do you any good if I return." As males, they were both well aware that he wouldn't just hand Suisui over to anyone.

Ruka didn't turn around, so Dr. Zong Fang couldn't see his expression.

The man's eyes fell, covering his golden irises. It was unknown what he recalled that unconsciously brought a tender smile to his lips.

Ruka was well aware that Qiao Suisui was like fine sand, the tighter you grip, the more likely you would lose her. Dr. Zong Fang's love was indeed blazingly intense, but he didn't understand her.

With this thought, Ruka, without raising his eyelids, dropped a casual remark, "Everyone relies on their capabilities."
