I Am Not A Goblin Slayer-Chapter 482 - 277: The Den’s Master_2
It’s a pity that Gauss is currently only sharing vision with the Clay Spider, and in this state, he can’t activate Fluent in Language. Otherwise, he would really like to know what this excited group of Kobolds is communicating about.
Under the slightly raised and excited gazes of the Kobold artisans, the esteemed Kobold Shaman, carrying a Demon Crystal, headed towards the giant lizard, escorted by several Elite Dogman Warriors.
The little spider controlled by Gauss hopped twice.
He couldn’t quite understand why they were so excited.
He saw a shadow of the pathetic workplace wage slave from his past life reflected in them.
Perhaps that Kobold Shaman had also painted some lofty ideals for these Kobold artisans, so much so that even after the Shaman left, these artisans were still buzzing in excited conversation when they got up.
However, Gauss was already following in the Shaman’s footsteps, controlling the spider to jump onto the body of the giant lizard.
He planned to hitch a ride, using the giant lizard to reach the core area of the nest.
After all, due to the need to control the Clay Spider, not much Magic Power was invested in this body, and he already felt that the energy was almost depleted.
He needed to conserve.
After leaving the smoking furnace, the giant lizard headed straight towards the center.
The path was clear all the way.
The Kobold Shaman riding the giant lizard must have a very high status in the nest, enjoying extremely high priority on the road. Not only did ordinary Kobolds, but even Elite Dogman and other "top dogs" riding giant lizards had to yield the way.
Moreover, this particular giant lizard was the largest in size.
Finally, Gauss, using this "luxury vehicle," arrived at the center of the Kobold nest.
In contrast to the dimly lit outer area, illuminated only by the faint green light of moss, the central region was relatively bright.
The space was suddenly open, without extraneous crowded buildings.
The glowing moss on the ceiling and surrounding area seemed carefully cultivated and transplanted, emitting a brighter, gold-tinged glow.
This allowed the entire area to be bathed in a warm, sunset-like light.
The ground, too, changed from the original dirt path to a neatly paved stone road.
Many Elite Dogman and well-dressed Kobold Shaman gathered here, and Gauss sensed a genuine, frenzied adoration and excitement from their expressions.
Gauss’s "heartbeat" quickened, if he had one.
He faintly realized that the peculiarity of this nest might soon surface.
Thinking of this, he quickly jumped onto the clothes of the Kobold Shaman, hiding himself within the folds of the garment.
At the same time, through the exposed gaps, he silently observed the surrounding Kobolds.
Upon arriving in this special area, all the Kobolds simultaneously bent over.
Even the previously haughty Kobold Shaman did not make an exception, almost like a servant returning to the side of its loyal master.
So who is the master here?
Gauss couldn’t help but feel curious, a powerful Dog-headed Lord perhaps?
Hanging on the swaying clothes, Gauss noticed the owner of the garment was walking up a slope.
It’s so hot....
Besides sharing vision, Gauss could also sense some other sensations from the Clay Spider.
He detected a rapid increase in temperature.
Even more intense than the forging furnace area he had stayed near before.
He looked towards the ground, feeling a scorching energy surging up from below.
Is this some kind of geothermal zone?
This place shouldn’t be suitable for the Kobolds to inhabit, should it?
Gauss analyzed silently.
Even though Kobolds often claim the lineage of the Giant Dragon, they have a significant difference from the Giant Dragon.
They are cold-blooded ectothermic animals, while the Giant Dragon is a warm-blooded creature.
This means the Kobolds cannot efficiently maintain a stable body temperature through normal metabolism; their body temperature relies heavily on the ambient temperature.
This makes their most suitable environment neither too cold nor too hot.
They create a suitable environment for themselves.
So, what is this place really....
Gauss’s curiosity grew.
It felt like he was about to meet the true boss of the nest, becoming increasingly excited.
Damn this body, just hold on a little longer.
He did not want to lose connection due to the depletion of Magic Power before even seeing the master of the nest.
The Magic Power within the spider kept slowly depleting.
Thinking? Thinking also consumes energy.
Gauss decided to clear his mind and think of nothing.
Holding a fire-attributed magic crystal, the Kobold Shaman walked higher and closer to the center, its body trembling more markedly.
The trembling was a result of uncontrollable excitement.
It lowered its proud head as sweat continuously secreted from its scale armor due to the intense heat, yet it savored it with relish.
A heart within its chest cavity was beating ever faster.
Finally, it reached the top of this mound.
The top was a flat, open platform square, circled by low walls.
Strewn about randomly on the flat ground were numerous glimmering objects.
Some were metal, some were pretty colorful stones, perhaps not of much value.
But due to the sheer quantity, they were piled into a mountain, looking quite impressive nonetheless.
And in the center, there was a small mountain of "treasures."
The quality was significantly more valuable than the cheap assorted knickknacks surrounding them.
Several gold bars that seemed to be gold, some scattered silver, certain gemstones, and a few Demon Crystals.
Gauss controlled the little spider to come out from the Kobold Shaman’s clothing.
He watched as the Kobold Shaman prostrated devoutly on the ground.
Then it placed a reddish, goose egg-sized natural magic crystal in that "treasure mountain."
"Clatter!"
Various "treasures" instantly slid down.
A claw covered with dark red scales shot out from the shadow of the treasure pile, skillfully catching the rolling red magic crystal.
The claw was strong and forceful, with large knuckles, and the ends were tipped with sharp claws glowing red.
With the movement of the claw, the creature in the treasure pile seemed to awaken.
It emitted a larger sound from within.
A reddish figure slowly awoke from its slumber, propping up its upper body.
Gauss saw this scene through the Clay Spider’s vision.
Pupils constricted tightly!
This was a sturdy beast, its body covered with a layer of red scale armor.
These scales were not as smooth and flat as those of reptiles but carried a rough, tough, lava-like rugged texture.
Under the golden light of the moss above its head, it exuded an indescribable sense of oppression.
It possessed a graceful, slender neck, and a fearsome head with a long snout covered in sharp bone spurs, some horns protruding from the head.
A pair of dark golden vertical pupils embedded in deep eye sockets, emitting the cold impatience of a predator.
However, when its gaze fixated on the magic crystal in its claw, there was a fleeting glint of fondness and possessiveness.
It emerged completely from the "treasure."
Strong limbs steadily supported its body, a powerful tail trailing behind, sweeping in a manner that sent some gemstones flying away.
Excluding the neck and tail, its body was roughly the size of a car.
"Roar!"
The beast let out a satisfied low growl.
From its nostrils, white smoke with a sulfurous smell continuously overflowed during this process.
It was as if a miniature volcano ready to erupt was hidden beneath this body!
Gauss began to feel uneasy.
This is....
Is this a young Red Dragon?
The brutal aesthetics emitted by the creature in front made Gauss, seeing it for the first time, feel his heart sink, yet he also started to feel excited.
He really didn’t expect that behind the group of Kobolds would be such a creature.
If it truly was a Giant Dragon, even if it was just a young one, it would be a terrifying enemy and an incredibly valuable one.
But why would such a hostile environment hide a Giant Dragon?
Where is the Dragon Mother?
"Roar!"
The Red Dragon let out another excited roar, hot breath spewing from its mouth and nostrils.
No...
Gauss scrutinized the dragon-like creature’s demeanor and movements before him, carefully observing as a thought crossed his mind.
No, this is not a Red Dragon!
It is a Dragon Beast!!
