I Am Genie-Chapter 50: After Three Months
Raphael hadn’t been sleeping well these last few days. Every time he closed his eyes, the sounds of arithmetic and geometry echoed in his head.
As a contractor, of course these subjects weren’t the main thing and there was no need to learn them, but being a noble was relatively different. Nobles were often linked with wealth, and someone who didn’t know how to calculate couldn’t become rich.
’What in the world are these two brats doing? They look serious but everything they say is nonsense. Could this actually be the correct way to cultivate? Have I become outdated?’
He thought and thought but just couldn’t understand. Normally, seeing Leo and Michael fight constantly was something he’d gotten used to, but these past three days were truly bizarre.
In his house now, two kids were missing, replaced by one large panda and one big, tall guy with a fierce face and six arms. This strange combo did nothing, just sat there talking continuously about a bunch of nonsense.
Raphael considered math nonsense because it just wasted Leo and Michael’s combat talent. They were contractors, not normal people, so why did they need to learn stuff like that? Wasn’t the biggest principle of the continent that whoever has the harder fist is right?
Although he was an educated person, he mainly studied before the age of twelve. After that, he occasionally read some books for fun, but most of his time was spent fighting and cultivating. Based on his experience, combat power was more important than calculation. As long as you were strong enough, people would bring you money themselves, so why bother with business?
Leo and Michael didn’t notice Raphael’s annoyance. The two of them kept talking, one speaking then the other, their mouths got dry so they drank water and continued talking, got hungry so they ate while talking. Repeating like this for three days made Raphael feel he’d had enough.
"You two, get out!"
Without bothering to ask their opinion, Raphael immediately kicked them outside. He suddenly stopped and looked down at his foot.
"Six years old and this heavy after transforming? Seems the material density in those two weird bodies is quite high. Who knows to what extent these two bodies will grow when they reach adulthood?"
His sharp gaze observed the two kids who were screaming but kept doing math like they were possessed. Perhaps the two kids had strange behavior because their talent was too high, so they understood things normal people couldn’t? Raphael wasn’t sure, but he knew that even if he imitated the two kids, it would have no effect on his cultivation.
---
Three months had passed. During this time, Leo and Michael both tried to practice these incredibly strange things non-stop. Their brains weren’t used to these things at first, so they found it extremely hard to sleep, and when they did sleep, they dreamed of all sorts of weird, unrelated stuff.
Heaven truly doesn’t let down those with determination. The two of them had now progressed by leaps and bounds to a degree they hadn’t even dared to think of before.
Right now, behind the house, Leo and Michael were sitting playing chess. Of course, it was Michael who taught Leo how to play, as in his previous world Leo didn’t have this game.
Of course, playing chess wasn’t strange in itself, but the weird part lay in what they were doing. Their eyes looked at the chessboard one moment, then at the other person’s face the next.
Their left hands were picking up meat to eat, their right hands were used to hold chess pieces, their left feet were holding branches to write down their conversation, their right feet were writing out calculations and solving them on the spot. That’s not all, the two of them were also talking about one thing with their mouths while simultaneously thinking about the problem of domain control in their heads.
"Leo, tell me, how many golden apples did the hen in the village below lay today?" Michael asked, his eyes constantly rolling up and down as if he had some strange disease.
"I know that. Actually, chicken eggs hatch into ducks, and duck eggs hatch into dogs." Leo replied, his eyes similarly strange; just add drooling and he could be considered a proper patient.
"From what I’ve found out, the sky is so pale because it doesn’t get enough nutrients in its diet."
"You’re wrong. The sky is under our feet, what’s up there is the ground."
"So what’s four to the power of five?"
"One thousand and twenty-four. A farmer has thirty chickens and forty pigs. How old is he?"
...
Raphael inside the house was so angry his face was beet red, his mustache trembling. His son clearly had the makings of a god, so why did he look more and more like an idiot? How many pointless things were they doing at the same time? Four, five, six, or even more?
"F*ck! How long do these two damned brats plan to stay stupid like this?"
He couldn’t stand watching anymore and cursed vulgarly. Damn it, this mental torture he felt could be on the same level as the flames Helios blasted into his body years ago.
Day after day he was tortured by their dumb expressions, all kinds of math problems, actions no normal person would do, and most importantly, those statements that sometimes made sense and sometimes were nonsense.
"Maybe I should move and live somewhere else? That makes sense. Wait until this kid is normal again before coming back, it wouldn’t be too late."
Raphael felt this plan wasn’t bad. He just needed to go a few miles away and he wouldn’t be bothered anymore. Moreover, with that distance, if there was a problem he could appear immediately. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Having a plan, of course he didn’t hesitate to act. He took an old sack, wrapped up some clothes and personal items, then left the house without even saying goodbye.
Leo and Michael behind the house were unaware of what had happened, or more accurately, they no longer had the energy to pay attention to one more thing. Their brains were constantly pushed to the limit, so there was no room left for another action.
They were like this from morning till night. Early in the morning they prepared enough food and drink, then sat glued to the spot until the sun was gone before stopping to sleep.
