After Rachael finally calmed down, Paige smiled at her and rubbed her cheek.

"Look at your puffy eyes. You cried your eyes out, didn’t you?" She asked and chuckled while Rachael’s eyes puckered. "Let me get you ice cream. You’ll feel better then, alright?"

Rachael watched Paige turn to the ice cream man. They chatted a bit and he expressed how shocked he was when the kids started crying.

Paige brushed it off as a no bothering matter.

"Let me get you that ice cream right away." The ice cream man said.

Paige made sure there was no more lurking danger before she went to take the ice cream cones from the ice cream man.

Romeo held Rachael’s hand.

"Why did you cry so much? Did you hurt your hand when you fell down?" Romeo asked but Rachael shook her head. "Then...?"

"I don’t know." Rachael said and turned to look at him. "I just wanted to fake my tears to attract attention but then the tears started flowing more. I didn’t want to but... my chest felt so heavy that I just wanted to cry more."

"Are you okay now?" Romeo asked, getting in front of her.

She looked at him, smiled and patted his head.

"I am."

Romeo smiled brightly and she looked past him.

"Help your mummy with the ice cream." She said and Romeo turned, rushing quickly to where his mother was.

Rachael slowly started walking towards them but then, a bike sped towards her. She was lucky to run aside before it hit her but she sprained her ankle and fell really badly, hurting her elbows in the process.

Paige and Romeo turned to see Rachael on the floor, grunting in pain while trying to stand. How did she fall?

"Rachael." Paige yelled, only to see an oncoming vehicle, which seemed to have been chasing the bike man. "Oh no." She wasn’t sure she would be able to get to her on time and the guards had taken the suspicious guy to the police.

Rachael tried to stand but her arms hurt. She looked at her hands and then her foot. Her ankle hurt a lot.

"Rachael." She heard Paige call and looked up. The worry in her face said something terrible was going to happen and by the time she looked up, it was already too late to get away.

She cowered in fear but then, a lady, the same blonde lady that was being chased by that suspicious man, dove into the scene and pulled Rachael away.

They both ended up rolling away from the car’s path, but things didn’t look good.

After they stopped rolling, they both fell unconscious. And while Rachael was safe from most of the harm and was on top of the lady, the lady had sustained a serious head injury and was bleeding.

"Ra-Rachael?" Romeo stuttered, staring in fright and a shaking body.

Paige hurried to Rachael, carried her out of the lady’s arms and checked to make sure she was alright. Thankfully her vitals were alright but for the lady who saved her.

It was at this point the guards returned from taking the suspicious man to the police station.

When they saw what had happened, their eyes widened. What happened when they were away?

"Take her. We’re going to the hospital." Paige said.

She didn’t go to the facility because of many reasons. Not only was Steve occupied with Alexa’s surgery, but Raymond was also already worried sick. If he heard his daughter had been in an accident, he just might lose his mind.

Romeo stayed in place, still stricken by shock and fear.

"Romeo." Paige called and he looked up. "She’s going to be alright. Let’s go to the hospital first." She said to him, and he managed to take a step.

He walked towards them and looked at Rachael in his mother’s arms. She was seriously hurt. His eyes grew teary but then he wiped them off and looked serious.

This was no time to cry. They needed to take her to the hospital first.

At the hospital, the lady was immediately taken into the theater. It seemed her head had been seriously injured when she rolled over with Rachael in her arms.

While the surgery was underway, Rachael was being treated in another ward.

According to the doctor treating her, she was just unconscious due to the shock of it all. They bandaged up her twisted ankle and bruised elbows.

"Mummy, she’s fine, right?" Romeo asked, squeezing Piages hand as they sat together in Rachael’s ward.

He looked with teary eyes and though he told himself he wouldn’t cry, his eyes wouldn’t stop getting teary.

"The doctors already said she was fine, didn’t they?" She asked him and he nodded. "So all we have to do is wait till she wakes up. No big deal." She smiled but was secretly worried.

She wasn’t one to get scared of anything or anyone for that matter, but this was Raymond’s child. Raymond who nearly went mad when he lost his wife.

If he found out that his daughter, whom he had just reunited with, got into an accident under her watch and was unconscious... she couldn’t tell what he would do.

He would get furious; no doubt and his seriously angered expression was a bit scary. How would she bypass that?

’Please Rachael, wake up and save the life of this Aunty of yours.’ She prayed and clasped her hands together. ’Your daddy will worry to death, so please.’

Her phone started ringing and she checked to see if the caller was Steve. If he was calling, that meant the surgery was done, right? 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

She immediately picked up the phone.

"Is it done?" She asked and Romeo looked up at her, wondering who she was talking to. "Please tell me it was a success."

"Was there something else you wanted to hear?" Steve asked and Piaget gave out a sigh of relief. "The infected lung is out, parts of her blood vessels that were being clogged and torn were repaired and I was able to flush out all remnants of the dangerous drug in her system." he explained and gave out a steady breath. "In other words, the surgery was a success."

His conclusion brought relief to her, and she sighed once more.

"I know Raymond won’t be able to call now since he’s watching over Alexa and thanking his stars for the success, so I decided to do it. I’m just coming out of the theater, so I’ll have to take a rest." He said and was about to hang up when Paige said,

"Now that that’s solved, do you think it’s safe to bring up another issue that suddenly crept up?" She asked, pursing her lips and then licking it.

"What do you mean another issue?" Steve asked, completely oblivious of what she was going to say.

"There was an accident and..."

"Wait, Paige, tell me Rachael wasn’t involved." Steve said, feeling his sweat suddenly drip down his forehead.

"Yes, she was involved. We’re currently in the hospital and Rachael is unconscious."

"Rachael is unconscious?" He exclaimed a little too loud and Raymond, who had just entered his office, turned grim as he asked in a furious tone,

"What did you just say? What happened to Racheal?"
