I alone am the Honoured One!-Chapter 758: After the rain [1]
A bit later, both of them pulled back their lips from teh kiss and slowly opened their eyes.
Both of them looked at each other and Lan Shuqin's gaze subtly fell on his lips... the same lips she claimed just now.
Her cheeks burned and the warmth crept from her face down to her neck, spreading through her entire body.
She felt feverish...
H-Huh?
What?
Her eyes trembled and she could feel teh lingering heat of his lips on her lips.
She was so ashamed... as she was the one who first leaned in to initiate the kiss.
'W-Why did I even do that?'
'I got carried away...'
Her gaze dropped to his chest, unable to meet his eyes.
Her fingers twitched, and finally, she forced herself to let go, stepping back just enough to put some distance between them.
The space between them was small, yet it felt unbearably vast.
Zhao Tian exhaled softly, and when she dared to glance up, she found him watching her.
And she could see that even he is surprised and is now hesitant.
That alone made her heart race even more.
Why isn't he saying anything?
Did he regret it?
Did she regret it?
Her face burned hotter.
She raised her hands to her cheeks instinctively, as if she could somehow wipe away the heat.
But it was useless.
She was blushing too hard, and she knew Zhao Tian could see it.
The realization made her stomach twist in embarrassment.
For a moment, she considered laughing it off, saying something lighthearted to dispel the tension... but nothing came to mind.
Her thoughts were a tangled mess and her emotions are even worse.
The rain continued to pour and the steady rhythm was loud in the silence between them.
Zhao Tian also felt quite awkward, as he also didn't expect it to spiral that way...

He turned his gaze and looked at Lan Shuqin whose face is burning deep red in the cold.
He cleared his throat lightly. "Shuqin... Are you… alright?"
Lan Shuqin nearly flinched at the sound of his voice.
"Y-Yes!" she blurted out immediately, too fast, too loud.
She wanted to disappear because of the embarrassment.
"I mean…" She quickly tried to correct herself, lowering her voice. "Y-yes. I'm fine."
She forced herself to glance up at him, just for a second, but immediately regretted it.
He was still looking at her, which made her heart tremble all over again.
The rain still fell around them as the droplets cascaded off the roof of their small shelter.
Yet, despite the cold, her body still felt warm.
She wanted to leave.
Before she does something reckless again.
"We should…" She took a shaky breath, forcing her thoughts into order.
"We should go back. The rain might ease up soon."
Zhao Tian hummed softly, considering her words. His gaze lingered on her for a moment longer before he finally nodded.
"Alright..."
Lan Shuqin closed her eyes for a moment as she knew that this moment wouldn't simply fade away like the rain.
That they had crossed a line tonight.
And there was no going back.
Zhao Tian and Lan Shuqin stepped out from the shelter and the cool drizzle still lingered in the air.
The damp earth softened beneath their steps, and the distant rumble of thunder echoed through the night.
Lan Shuqin kept her gaze forward and her fingers curled into the damp fabric of her sleeves.
Her lips still tingled, betraying the memory of the kiss she had stolen.
She bit the inside of her cheek and her mind spiraled with the weight of her actions.
'I have betrayed Lady Hanyue...'
As the rain lightened into a soft mist, Zhao Tian finally broke the silence. "Shuqin."
She stiffened slightly but turned to face him, "Yes?"
He hesitated, but then with a low sigh, he asked "About earlier…"
Her stomach twisted. "It was nothing."
The words tumbled out faster than she intended.
"I mean… it was just the moment. The rain. The atmosphere. It… It doesn't have to mean anything."
Even as she spoke, her heart pounded against her ribs, screaming at her...
Zhao Tian's gaze lowered "Is that really how you feel?"
H-Huh?
Lan Shuqin realized what he is asking and she wasn't sure how to answer.
She shook her head, trying to gather herself. "Yes, it doesn't mean anything. We shouldn't..."
Her voice wavered. "We shouldn't complicate things."
Hearing this, Zhao Tian looked up at the sky and spoke "I see, let's return then."
Lan Shuqin noticed a tinge of sorrow in his tone and her eyes quivered 'Master Tian...'
She swallowed as guilt settled in her chest like a cold weight.
...
As they reached the Palace, they walked through the corridor and swiftly reached Lan Shuqin's room.
Pushing the door, she entered first "Come in, Master Tian..."
He followed her and without looking at him, she moved toward a cabinet and retrieved two fresh towels.
She turned, stepping closer to him. "Here," she murmured, holding out a towel.
Zhao Tian took it and lifted the towel to his hair as he began to brush out the damp strands of his hair.
Lan Shuqin did the same, squeezing her hair with the cloth, feeling the cool moisture seep into the fabric as stray droplets ran down the curve of her neck.
Her gaze flickered to Zhao Tian for a brief moment.
The light illuminated the beautiful contours of his face and his robes, now heavier from the rain, clung to his broad shoulders, outlining his bosy.
She quickly looked away, feeling her face heat up again.
Focusing on her task, she wiped her hair dry as best as she could, then moved toward her wardrobe.
Sliding the doors open, she retrieved a set of night clothes.
"I'll go change," she said quickly and waiting for a response, she disappeared into the adjoining restroom.
As he was alone, Zhao Tian also decided to change his clothes and began to strip.
A bit later, Lan Shuqin stepped out of her restroom wearing night clotehs and looked at Zhao Tian who was wearing new robes and is brushing his hair.
Then, her gaze inadvertently dipped lower... to the parts of him still exposed, the faint lines of muscle, the way the robe was only partially tied—
She looked away almost instantly.
Uh...
With a sigh, he gave her the towel and she took it from his hand.
"I am leaving..." Zhao Tian uttered as he stepped out of the room.
...
Walking to the balcony near the room, Zhao Tian leaned on the railing and looked at the night palace as drizzling rain moistened the landscape.
"Husband?"
Hm? He turned his head and looked at Zhou Hanyue walking towards him from teh other room.
Lan Shuqin and Zhou Hanyue's rooms were always close to each other afteer all.
