Chapter 528: Chapter 528: How Do You Prove It?

"The person Kaizen mentioned?"

"But... why did he say you two?" Killua frowned. "Gon, you didn’t tell him I was with you. How did he know we were together?"

"It does seem weird," Gon said, tilting his head.

"And how did he know we came to Heavens Arena?" Killua continued. "Could it have been my dad? Or Cousin Kaizen? No... if Kaizen told him, he definitely would’ve said something."

Sadaso’s eyes narrowed slightly, curiosity flickering in them.

"Hunter Association? Your teacher?"

Killua nodded. "Before coming to Heavens Arena, Gon and I took the Hunter Exam. After passing it, we came here."

"We met during the exam," Gon added.

"Yeah. Along the way, I found out about Nen. I wanted Kaizen to teach us, but he said the Hunter Association had already arranged a teacher."

Killua shrugged. "Maybe he thought their teacher would be better."

Sadaso seemed thoughtful. "Was the Hunter Exam hard?"

Killua scratched his head. "There were a bunch of stages. Honestly, it was hard—but not in an obvious way. Hundreds of applicants take the exam, and usually only a handful pass. This time had the highest number of passers in recent years."

"And that’s not even counting the pre-selection before the 680th official exam. A ton of people were eliminated before it even started."

Killua silently ranked the participants in his mind.

He figured his own strength was somewhere in the middle.

Illumi, Hisoka, Kaizen, Alita, and Hanzo were all stronger than him.

At the bottom was Pokkle.

Sadaso’s envy was hard to hide when he heard that the Association assigned them a Nen teacher.

His own experience learning Nen had been brutal.

A bitter one.

Sadaso didn’t even like thinking about it. If not for his mental endurance, he probably would’ve ended up like some unstable rookie killers, emotionally wrecked.

"Is your teacher coming now?" Sadaso asked.

"Yeah."

"Then let’s head out to meet them. They might not be able to find this private room."

"Good idea."

The three of them exited the room.

...

Just then, a figure rushed into the coffee shop, clearly out of breath from running.

It was Wing.

As soon as he spotted Gon and Killua, his eyes scanned them carefully. Seeing that their aura nodes hadn’t been activated yet, he visibly relaxed.

Then his gaze moved to Sadaso—and he frowned.

Wing was not happy to see him.

He had a whole plan: create a chance meeting using Zushi, slowly build rapport with Gon and Killua, and eventually reveal Nen to them—without disclosing that he was the Hunter Association’s assigned instructor. He wanted to observe their character first, to test them before teaching them in the style of Shingen-ryu.

Even Netero had approved of Gon and Killua.

But Wing had his own standards.

If the boys didn’t meet them, he wouldn’t teach them anything advanced—just the basics.

Now Sadaso had thrown a wrench in everything.

If he had already started teaching the kids, Wing couldn’t just stay in the shadows anymore.

"Killua? Gon?" Wing stepped forward. "I’m Wing—the teacher assigned to you by the Hunter Association."

Zushi trailed behind, eyeing Gon and Killua with open curiosity.

"Hello," Sadaso said warily. "Do you have any proof?"

"...Proof?" Wing blinked.

His whole approach relied on not showing proof. From the start, he never intended to say he was from the Association.

But with Sadaso here, the situation had changed.

Sadaso stepped forward, his expression guarded.

"If you really were sent by the Hunter Association, you’d have credentials, right? Otherwise, how can we trust you? You’re a Nen user—how do we know it’s safe to go with you?"

Even geniuses like Killua and Gon could be taken out easily by the wrong person.

Wing thought for a moment. "Would a Hunter License be enough?"

Sadaso looked at the boys.

Killua answered, "I remember the Chairman said that anyone who passed the exam would get a Hunter License."

"But the license is anonymous. Anyone who has one can use it."

Sadaso nodded. "In that case, it can’t prove your identity."

Wing went silent for a beat. Then he pulled out his phone.

"I’ll call the Chairman. You’ve both met him—his voice should be enough proof."

He dialed.

...

The call connected quickly.

Wing handed the phone over. "The Chairman will explain."

Sadaso checked it, then passed it to Killua, who shared it with Gon.

Netero’s cheerful voice came through the speaker.

"Killua, Gon! Long time no see. Your caution is excellent—but yes, Wing was assigned by me. He’s there to teach you Nen."

"Bit of a scatterbrain, that one," Netero chuckled, "but he’s a good teacher."

Gon frowned. "But... how do we know it’s really you, Netero-san? A voice can be faked, right?"

He was remembering what the butler at the Zoldyck estate had once told him—never trust a voice alone.

"Hahaha! Fair point," Netero laughed heartily. "So, have you figured out how to confirm it?"

He wasn’t offended in the slightest—if anything, he sounded pleased.

He had tossed the question right back at them.

Killua hesitated. "Chairman... can you contact Kaizen? He’s also at Heavens Arena. I’m sure he’ll find a way to verify everything." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
