Hunter of Mysterious Creature-Chapter 487 - 90: Beaten to Death_2
The soldiers nearby all shook their heads.
"This isn’t a weapon that relies on explosive impact or shrapnel to kill targets; it should be a projectile fired from a railgun or coilgun, a purely kinetic weapon!" the lieutenant said. "But I don’t recall any such weapon being deployed in Tianfu City..."
As everyone was still bewildered, a young man drenched in blood suddenly approached from afar, dragging a deformed spine in his hand, with fresh flesh still attached to it.
"Who are you?" The soldiers at the outpost and in the patrol convoy raised their weapons simultaneously, aiming at the young man.
"Tianfu City-registered Mysterious Creature Hunter, Sun Hang, ID 0420." Sun Hang wiped the blood and flesh off his face. "I’m here to support you."
"Hunter? You’re the hunter here to support us?" The lieutenant’s expression stiffened. "You...flew...flew here from Tianfu City?"
He hadn’t heard of an electromagnetic gun that could launch humans like a projectile... even if there was, the strength required for such a "projectile" would be too high, even for a mysterious creature hunter, it might not be bearable...
Could it be that the sonic boom they heard just now was caused by this young hunter named Sun Hang?
"Yeah, I couldn’t stop in time and overshot, seems like I accidentally collided with something." Sun Hang laughed, "You mentioned a rogue hunter? Where is that hunter?"
The lieutenant looked at the blood and grime on Sun Hang, then at the scattered meat mush and feather fragments on the ground... hesitantly pointing at the spine in Sun Hang’s hand, he said, "He... he seems to be in your hand."
"You mean this?" Sun Hang swung the spine a couple of times and then casually tossed it aside, "I thought it was just a unlucky mysterious creature I smashed."
"His...his infection process seems to have broken through the dangerous threshold," the lieutenant said, "fully transformed, so calling him a mysterious creature isn’t wrong..."
"Is there anything else to deal with?" Sun Hang scratched his head.
"No... uh, yes, yes there is." The lieutenant instinctively said no, then immediately corrected himself, "We need to tally casualties and equipment losses; there are many grievously injured who need urgent evacuation to the rear... also, the rogue hunter’s remains need to be carefully collected..."
He glanced at the "hunter’s remains" scattered everywhere, speaking in a much lower voice.
He estimated that the hunter’s "fragments" were probably scattered over a two-kilometer radius, and collecting them all was a task beyond what this small squad could handle.
"Additionally, Outpost 307 is badly damaged, we need to send personnel for repairs, station staff need to be replenished... and a detailed report needs to be written..."
"Oh, those are your tasks, nothing to do with me." The young hunter named Sun Hang waved his hand and walked off to the side.
The lieutenant raised his head and happened to see the expressionless Puppet Master walk up to Sun Hang, taking out a packet of tissues from her skirt pocket, pulling one out, and stood on tiptoes to wipe the grime off Sun Hang’s face.
These two... know each other?
No, they not only know each other, they seem to be quite close?
Despite the lieutenant’s curiosity, he ultimately suppressed his gossiping urge and turned to organize the remaining soldiers to transport all the wounded, including the sergeant, into the vehicles one by one.
Zhong Ling said nothing, she just gently wiped Sun Hang’s face with the tissue — even though at that speed, the grime on Sun Hang’s face was almost instantly dried by the wind; using a dry tissue was extremely difficult to remove it... Zhong Ling frowned slightly, applying more pressure with her hand.
"Stop wiping, stop wiping, I’ll just grab some water and wash my face." Sun Hang grasped Zhong Ling’s slender wrist, lowering her hand, and called out to the lieutenant’s back, "Hey, is there a tap water supply here?"
"Tap water? The outpost should have it... you want to..."
"Wash my face."
"Oh oh, just use the drinking water directly!" The lieutenant took four bottles of mineral water from the vehicle and handed them to Sun Hang.
"Thanks." Sun Hang opened a bottle and poured it over his face.
"We should be the ones thanking you... if it weren’t for your timely arrival, more lives might have been lost here."
In fact, Sun Hang could easily remove the grime himself, he could even absorb the bloodstains directly into his skin... but since someone was willing to serve him, he didn’t mind enjoying it.
Sun Hang randomly pulled over a box to sit on, while Zhong Ling, closely beside him, used the damp tissue to continue wiping the blood and grime on Sun Hang’s face and neck.
"Can I ask... how did you take down that rogue hunter?" The lieutenant hesitated but eventually asked the question he was most curious about.
"I’m not sure either, I just collided with him directly." Sun Hang blinked, feigning confusion. "I was just wondering if I hit something that I should compensate for... then I grabbed a spine, just like that, in a flustered moment... I was initially thinking to piece him back together afterward and apologize. But now it’s settled, all fine."
"Piece... piece him back together?" The lieutenant wiped the sweat that formed on his forehead, astonished.
"Just kidding, actually I saw the guy from afar." Sun Hang smiled, "Such a big birdman hovering in the air, super conspicuous, I thought it would be quite a struggle, who knew this guy was so fragile."
"Fragile..." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The lieutenant couldn’t help but recall the scene of the outpost soldiers using machine guns to shoot the black-robed hunter — the 12.7mm caliber bullets, capable of penetrating an eighty-millimeter thick concrete wall, could only break the outermost feathers. Yet, here this young hunter, seemingly his age, had shattered the black-robed hunter with just his flesh.
In the true sense of the word... shattered.
"I’ll go back to work, please take care of the on-site logistics... if any mysterious creatures approach at this time..."
"I know, I know, that’s my job, I’ll handle it." Sun Hang said.
The lieutenant ran back toward the convoy, and Sun Hang turned to look at Zhong Ling, who was so closely pressed against him, a faint scent wafted into his nostrils.
Many people say the scent on women is actually from shampoo and body wash, but for some reason, during intense physical activity, when sweating profusely, this scent becomes more prominent.
Is this the effect of hormones... or have these women been "marinated" into flavor by cosmetics and skincare products?
No, wait... Zhong Ling seems to never use cosmetics or skincare products... the shampoo and body wash she uses are also the unlabelled white bottles distributed by the Dubhe Tower, these things have no added fragrance and are completely odorless.
So, this scent he smelled... is her sweat?
Sun Hang took another deep breath, his right hand instinctively reached for Zhong Ling’s waist.
Just as he was about to touch Zhong Ling’s back waist, a gaze filled with chilling intent suddenly aimed at him from the side.
With the corner of his eye, Sun Hang caught a glimpse; sure enough, the Number One Cadaver was glaring at him menacingly from the side.
Sun Hang quickly withdrew his hand, obediently sitting on the box, allowing Zhong Ling to continue wiping the bloodstains from his face.
"Will you be going home for dinner tonight?" Sun Hang asked, "Anyway, this convoy can’t continue its patrol mission."
Zhong Ling: "Hm?"
"Cup noodles aren’t as good as the meals you cook. No, they’re miles apart." Sun Hang shamelessly said, "You’ve spoiled my taste, so you’re responsible."
