HUNTED-Chapter 397: Unstoppable Bull
The trio trailed over to one of the tables and chairs that were a little damp. Keira used her blazer to keep her backside from getting wet while Tristian offered his blazer to Rhea. Rhea was nice enough to refuse and use her own.
They were left alone for the remainder of their lunch, and Keira enjoyed the peace and quiet.
Once they were inside, they parted ways for their different classes. Keira went to her ’Special Grade’ lessons, whilst Rhea and Tristian were one level lower.
The noise of other students washed over her. Keira walked through the halls on autopilot, nodding at students, complimenting some, and smiling at others before going to her next class. There was a break after two of her afternoon lessons, and she returned to the fields, already changed into her workout gear for her next lesson, pausing momentarily when she noticed Kodi on the track and field.
He was in the warrior training session with others.
"Koa!"
"Oh my gosh!" Another squeal. "It’s Koa! Look at him go!"
Keira perched herself halfway up the stands, following the gazes of her brother’s fan girls. They were also on a break, watching Koa flip someone over his shoulder and jab his hand into their throat as they sputtered on the ground.
"You can use your claws as well." The teacher instructed as he walked around, hands behind his back, using her brother as the prime example of their lesson. "That would kill them. Obviously, we will not be doing that today. Good job, Cross."
Koa got up and turned away, immediately grabbing his bag and leaving the lesson yet to finish. Keira frowned. What was he doing?
"Koa!" Girls began crowding him, trying to block his path, but the guy was like a bulldozer, and he wasn’t one to stop for anyone. His strides were long, commanding, intimidating and like usual, he ignored anyone trying to talk to him. It was a habit all of the family had worked on, but nobody blamed him for his antisocial behaviour.
Keira watched her brother until he climbed the stands and loomed over her, his huge body blocking out what little sun she’d been enjoying.
"You know your class is still going," she stated casually and glanced at the girls, now huffing in annoyance, still vying for his attention.
Koa plopped down beside her, his massive frame making the bench shake. "I beat everyone up. They can rest," Koa remarked with a smirk, his brown eyes glittering as he watched the others.
"Goddess! Why can’t he look at me like that!"
Keira snorted. "You know… your stoicism makes them crave to be yours more…" She watched the girls switch up their acts and glaring at Keira because of the easy relationship she had with him.
Koa shrugged. He never gave a flying F.
"What’s eating you up anyway?" Koa asked quietly after sitting comfortably in silence.
"What do you mean?" Keira asked, keeping her gaze ahead and trying not to watch a certain hot body tackling another to the ground.
Kodi was quick for a big guy.
Koa gave her a look, and she sighed. "Nothing I can’t handle."
"How about we train before your next lesson?" Koa suggested, standing abruptly and making her feel tiny once more as her head tilted back to look at him.
"And make me publicly humiliate myself? No thanks. Hard pass." Keira held her hand up in a flat no.
Koa was the best warrior known in the Silver Crescent pack and school. He’d even beaten their dad a few times and, more importantly, Chiara, who’d taught them since they’d turned 4.
Like Keira, he wanted to prove himself worthy of being a Cross. Since he was adopted at a young age from treacherous circumstances, it was clear Koa was slightly haunted by his past.
Koa grabbed Keira’s hand and yanked her up like she weighed nothing. "Only one way to get stronger. Why not now before your powers grow?"
Keira frowned at his back, descending the stands, not taking no for an answer.
He was so stubborn.
"What’s up with him?" On the field, Kodi pointed his chin in the direction of the princess and the brick wall that left the mats after annihilating his opponents.
It would be interesting if they faced off. Kodi was sure the fight would last longer than a minute. He wouldn’t mind taking him on.
Trey, a werewolf he’d been partnered off with due to their sizes, someone who’d been forced to interact with Kodi, answered with wide eyes. "That’s Koa, man!" He whisper-shouted as though he didn’t want this ’Koa’ to hear them.
Kodi crossed his arms, ignoring the thump of bodies falling on the mats as he waited his turn on the sideline. This sort of training was boring. Where was the blood? The thrill of almost crushing his opponents?
Although since she turned up, his treacherous thoughts had gone elsewhere. He knew from the moment the Cross Princess stepped onto the field.
Keira’s hair was tugged back into a high ponytail, accentuating her high cheek bones, long neck and in general, revealing those annoying looks. She’d slumped down to make herself less noticeable, but everyone noticed.
Those he was training with suddenly fought harder, glancing in her direction. They were vying for her attention.
It was comical and pathetic to see.
"So… Koa?" Kodi watched as the princess huffed, unwrapped her arms from her chest and followed Koa to the far end of the field, away from them.
"What rock have you crawled out under from?" Trey hissed. Kodi arched an eyebrow at his attitude, and Trey instinctively rubbed his jaw where a bruise formed.
"He already helps with missions for the Alpha King and Alpha Heir. Koa is Keira’s brother."
Brother? Kodi was sure the Cross brothers had white hair, the ’known’ appearance of werewolf royalty.
"Kodi, Trey, the mat’s free." Teach directed them to the mat.
"They’re close," Trey continued as Kodi watched over his shoulder in the distance where the siblings were still talking. Many looked in their direction but didn’t try to get closer, as most of the campus reacted to Keira and Koa. "Koa’s a silent brute-"
Kodi landed two blows on Trey’s ribs and the side of his face. "Talking about him like that… Isn’t that treason?" Kodi smirked as he dodged a kick, watching this pathetic excuse of a werewolf already out of breath. Kodi danced around him, testing his weaknesses.
Trey grunted at another blow and dove for Kodi’s hips, planning to use his weight and tackle him to the ground. Kodi didn’t budge. He looked up. "Ah shi-"
Trey flopped back, black dots covering most of his vision as he panted on the ground. Slowly his vision returned, staring at the grey skies and Kodi who stepped into his field of vision. "Koa was adopted. It was pretty big news back in the day," Trey continued, still panting. "He only gives Keira the time of day."
Trey’s tone indicated the slight bitterness he felt towards the guy. Like others in the school, it was pretty clear he wanted to get close to one of the royals.
Koa, who had been silent and deadly in the lesson, only nodded at a few in acknowledgement. Any of his ’cheerleaders’ on the sidelines gawking and giggling, some rushing up to him, touching his arm and flirting, were swiftly brushed off.
Kodi grabbed his water bottle, pretending to need it, pausing when he saw the siblings doing their own training.
"Quite a sight, eh?" Dan, Trey’s friend stopped beside him. "You guys are being spoilt today. They normally train at home together. Probably why Keira’s so good even without a wolf."
"Wolf or not, she’s fucking hot." Another chimed in, and others murmured their agreements.
Koa’s beast growled in response making his chest rumble. Those who were taking an obvious break to watch them, looked in his direction and took a subtle-yet-not-so-subtle step away. He didn’t care, his attention was on Keira.
They made it sound like she could fight. Kodi could see a few things wrong with her skills and-
Keira flung to the side, her cheek burning from Koa’s hit. She pushed off from the ground, pausing, when she realised a set of mismatched coloured eyes were focused on her. Of all the people to see this moment-
"Clear your mind," Koa growled. "What is distracting you so much today?"
Keira jumped at the sound of his voice, barely dodged another attack, and scrambled to her feet. "You know I’m not in the mood-"
Koa flipped her over without a second thought and knocked her to the ground. The air whooshed out of her lungs on impact. "Your enemy won’t care about whether you’re in the mood or not."
Keira frowned. He was right. Of course, he was right.
Taking a deep breath, she released it slowly, focusing on her brother.
Koa came at her again, and this time, she parried, sparred and evaded his strikes. With Koa, she was always on the defensive. His reputation wasn’t some idle gossip. He was like a bull, always attacking that red flag, but he was highly skilful.
No matter what she tried to do, Koa would counterattack any move she’d try to get the upper hand and return to being on the defensive again.

Keira flinched at the new bruise already forming on her ribs and put her hand up, folding over and collapsing on the grass.
"Keira?" He immediately relaxed out of his stance and strolled over to her.
They’d been training for over an hour now. Keira’s teacher should have stopped them and called her over, but they allowed the siblings to do their own thing. Koa was brutal, but it kept her skill level above the other students in her class.
"I can’t go anymore… I don’t have a w-"
"You’ll be unstoppable when you do," he said softly, crouching into a squat beside her.
A small smile graced her lips at his comment, though she didn’t quite believe it. "I’m the only one not have a wolf-"
"Most 17-year-olds don’t," he interrupted. "It’s rarer to get a wolf younger."
It was a repeat of what he usually said to her.
"But I’m a Cross," Keira murmured a little bitterly. "I can’t be average."
