HPxLOTM: A Wizard's Path to Divinity-Chapter 713: Klein Arrives at the City Loyal to Him
Edward felt a little helpless. "It’s not that I didn’t want to tell you—I simply didn’t have the time. Amon latched onto me before I could."
He then succinctly recounted to Lilith what had happened with Amon in the Astral World. "...After that, I handed Amon over to Professor Dumbledore. Not long after, I suddenly sensed that Amon’s avatars were gathering together. Worried they might be plotting something nasty again, I followed them and wiped them all out in one go."
"Serves him right! No—still far too lenient!"
Lilith ground her teeth. "A bastard like that should be made to suffer worse than death! He’s rotten to the core!"
Edward nodded. "Exactly. That’s why I stripped him of all his Beyonder abilities and reduced him to nothing more than a slightly sturdier ordinary person."
"You shouldn’t have sent him to Hogwarts," Lilith said darkly. "You should’ve thrown him into an orphanage, made him a vagrant. Let him suffer, let him struggle to survive every day, let him despair, let him feel fear."
"Uh."
Edward coughed lightly. "If there’s a chance later, you can do all that yourself. Besides, he may not be having as good a time at Hogwarts as you imagine. I placed a continuous [Fooling] effect on him—his learning ability now is probably several Hermiones worse than Neville."
Lilith’s eyes immediately lit up. "That’s good!" After a pause, she asked again, "Right—did Amon say where the Conqueror Beyonder characteristics and the Red Priest Uniqueness ended up?"
"What, you still refuse to let it go?"
She crossed her arms and snorted. "No matter what, I have to know which bastard ended up taking Miss Lilith’s things."
"It was Medici."
"As expected—it really was him!" Lilith bared her teeth. "I knew it! Last time I saw him, he clearly didn’t even have a single Sequence 1 Beyonder characteristic left, yet he was still so calm. Turns out he’d long since been colluding with Amon!"
She clenched her fist. "Just wait. Miss Lilith will definitely take back everything she lost!"
Putting an arm around her shoulders, Edward said, "Alright, alright. Save the tough talk for when you actually meet him. Let’s head to the City of Silver first."
———
This wasn’t Klein’s first time seeing the City of Silver.
During Little Sun Derrick’s past prayers, Klein had been able to glimpse fragments of the surroundings through Sefirah Castle. Of course, what he saw that way was utterly incomparable to witnessing it in person.
Standing within this vast, magnificent city—its origins tracing back to the Third Epoch or even earlier—Klein was deeply shaken. He couldn’t help but imagine how awe-inspiring the city must have been back when the Ancient Sun God was still alive.
Less than five minutes into his walk through the city, Klein saw a squad of more than ten people sprinting toward him. They quickly surrounded him, after which a charming-looking woman stepped forward and asked in the Jotun, "May I ask who you are, sir? From where did you enter the City of Silver, and for what purpose have you come?"
Unhurried, Klein removed his hat and bowed slightly. "I am here by my Lord’s command, to deliver City of Silver from its plight."
A glint flashed in Lovia’s eyes. "May I ask for your Lord’s honoured name?"
"The Fool."
Whoosh—
An instant uproar broke out. Hope and anticipation surged into everyone’s eyes. News of that deity who had shown goodwill toward the City of Silver—the Fool—had already been announced by the Chief a few days ago within a limited scope. It had been said that before long, this great and benevolent god would lead City of Silver out of darkness and into the light.
No one had expected His messenger to arrive so soon.
Though Lovia was just as stirred inside, she didn’t completely lower her guard. "Would you be willing to come with us to meet the Chief?"
"Of course. Let’s go."
Thus, the group quickly made their way along the ancient stone-paved road toward the round tower where City of Silver’s Chief and elders resided. From afar, Klein saw a tall boy with a strikingly youthful face staring over with barely contained excitement. He knew at once that this had to be Little Sun.
Derrick suppressed his excitement and first glanced at the Chief. Only after receiving a nod did he step forward and ask, "May I ask who you are...?"
Lowering his voice, Klein replied calmly, "The World."
"Mr. World?"
Derrick froze, visibly surprised.
In the original timeline, as Klein’s avatar within the Tarot Club, The World grew increasingly prominent in the mid to late stages—almost every major or minor event involved him. However, due to the chain of changes brought about by Edward’s arrival, The World had never become as "dazzling" as in the original story, nor were his relationships with the Tarot Club members as close as they had once been.
Derrick immediately recalled that Mr. World was the Blessed of Mr. Fool. It was indeed perfectly reasonable for him to serve as the messenger. With a mixture of anticipation and nervousness, he asked, "Mr. World, Mr. Fool asked you to come..."
"Yes," Klein nodded. "Mr. Fool told me that the time has come to lead the people of City of Silver—and Moon City as well—away from this place."
With that clear confirmation, the people of City of Silver could no longer restrain their joy. Most of the younger ones burst into cheers.
Chief Colin Iliad asked solemnly, "Honoured Messenger, may I ask how we are to leave this place—leave the Forsaken Land of the Gods?"
"Through the Giant King’s Court."
"But last time..."
The one who spoke was Lovia. "Last time, another messenger of Mr. Fool said that the Giant King’s Court was extremely dangerous—even a Sequence 1 Angel couldn’t pass through it."
Recalling what Amon had said when he brought him into the Forsaken Land of the Gods, Klein continued, "Rest assured. Under the mighty power of our Lord, the Giant King’s Court is now completely unobstructed."
Klein smiled faintly. "So everyone may follow me without worry."
"That’s wonderful!"
Derrick was overjoyed. "Thank you so much, Mr. World!"
"No—there’s no need to thank me. Thank Mr. Fool."
Derrick immediately straightened his expression and said devoutly, "Thank Mr. Fool. Praise The Fool."
Colin placed his right hand over his chest, lowered his head slightly, and said in a deep voice, "Praise The Fool!"
The rest of the people of Silver City followed suit, shouting in unison, "Praise The Fool."
At that instant, a powerful sense of accomplishment surged in Klein’s heart. After pretending to be the Fool for so long, it finally felt as though he had truly done something meaningful.
Just then, an illusory door appeared beside Klein. Edward and Lilith stepped out together.
"Klein, we’re here."
The people of the City of Silver—who had been overjoyed just a moment ago—immediately became vigilant again and turned to look.
Klein raised a hand and said, "These two are also Mr. Fool’s...messengers."
It had to be said that Klein still couldn’t put on airs naturally in front of people who knew the full truth. "...Mr. Tower and Miss Empress."
Derrick’s eyes lit up at once. "Mr. Tower, Miss Empress—hello!"
After greeting them, he hurriedly introduced them to the Chief in a low voice, "Chief, Mr. Tower used to be the strongest under Mr. Fool—a Sequence 1 Archangel. The blessing you’ll need for your advancement to Sequence 3 will be bestowed by him."
"An Archangel?"
One had to know that even in the ancient Third Epoch, a Sequence 1 Archangel was a symbol of overwhelming power—referred to back then as a subordinate god.
Colin hurriedly inclined his head toward Edward. "Thank you, honoured one."
"You’re too polite. I’ve always greatly admired the efforts you’ve made for City of Silver, Chief."
"This...is merely my duty."
Hm? At this moment, Colin suddenly froze and subconsciously asked, "You said used to be the strongest under Mr. Fool—does that mean...?"
Derrick scratched his head. "Oh, at last week’s gathering, a new senior joined us. He...is a Sequence 0 god—the Black Emperor."
"!!!"
Colin—and everyone else who heard Derrick’s explanation—was left utterly stunned.
Even a god was merely a subordinate of Mr. Fool? Then just how powerful must Mr. Fool himself be?!
Almost in unison, they said, "Praise The Fool."
Edward and Lilith both turned smilingly toward Klein. Klein, meanwhile, felt as though he were being bitten all over by mosquitoes, so uncomfortable that he wished he could vanish on the spot.
Damn it! This is too awkward! This is peak secondhand embarrassment!
This kind of forced pretension...it’s absolutely lethal.
Little Sun, oh Little Sun—I misjudged you! I thought only Mr. Hanged Man was good at wild extrapolation, and only Miss Justice was prone to idolising me. Turns out you’re no less impressive.
"Ahem!"
Klein coughed repeatedly, cutting off the people of the City of Silver’s praise and rampant imagination. "Alright, time is of the essence. Chief, please notify everyone in the City at once and have them prepare to depart as soon as possible."
After a brief pause, he looked at Edward. "With Mr. Tower here, we can directly skip the long migration."
Edward immediately replied, "Mr. World, we can’t help with that one. You’ve forgotten already, haven’t you?"
"But..."
"Don’t worry. Your abilities exceed what you imagine."
As he spoke, ancient gears flashed into existence behind Edward, rotating clockwise. In the next instant, Klein once again felt that familiar sensation from before, and his Sequence advanced accordingly—reaching Sequence 3.
"Alright. As long as you don’t encounter a powerful enemy, this advancement should be sufficient for you to lead the people of the City of Silver and Moon City out of the Forsaken Land of the Gods. The rest is up to you."
Klein looked at him with gratitude. "Thank you, Edward."
Lilith lifted her chin and huffed, "And why aren’t you thanking Miss Lilith? If it weren’t for me, you’d have already been killed by Amon’s avatar just now."
"Uh...thank you as well, Miss Lilith."
Klein: I really envy Lilith. How does she manage to maintain such a young, childish mindset? Hmm—Roselle was like this too. Is it to preserve humanity?
Then should I consider learning to do the same? After all, I may have to confront the consciousness of an existence beyond a god in the future.
"By the way, Edward."
Shaking off his wandering thoughts, Klein said seriously, "Although Amon’s avatar was dealt with by Lilith, I’m worried that his main body might descend at any time."
Lilith waved her hand casually and said in a sweet voice, "Relax, relax. Amon’s main body has already been taken care of by Edward. There won’t be any more Amons coming to fight you over Sefirah Castle or cause you trouble."
"Huh?"
Klein’s eyes widened in shock. He didn’t doubt Edward’s strength, but given Amon’s power as the King of Angels of the Marauder Pathway—even if he couldn’t defeat Edward, he should at least have been able to escape, right?
Edward really was a walking cheat code.
