Horrific Shorts: Zombie Edition-Chapter 512 : Story 512: The Crimson Corridor
The night hung heavy over the abandoned district, the moonlight struggling to pierce the ominous storm clouds gathering overhead. A faint crimson glow emanated from the alley ahead, bathing the narrow corridor in an unnatural light. Graffiti scrawled across the decaying walls whispered warnings: "Turn back," "Death lives here," and "The Screaming Path."
Captain Marcus Kane motioned for the team to halt. His keen eyes scanned the eerie surroundings, every sound amplified by the oppressive silence. "Stay sharp," he ordered. "This place is screaming 'trap' louder than a siren."
Lila "Huntress" Navarro knelt by a decayed wooden crate near the entrance. Her tracking gear hummed faintly as she swept the area. "Blood trails lead inside," she whispered, pointing to smeared handprints on the cobblestones. "Fresh. Someone—or something—was dragged here recently."
"Could be survivors," Kane said, gripping his shotgun tighter. "Or bait. Shield, take point. Blaze, be ready to burn us an exit if things go south."

Derek "Shield" Coleman hefted his riot shield, stepping cautiously into the alley. The glowing red light intensified as they moved deeper, illuminating a horde of zombies standing eerily still. They were motionless, their grotesque forms casting long shadows against the graffiti-covered walls.
"This isn't right," murmured Riley "Quick Shot" Bennett from her rooftop position. Through her sniper scope, she tracked the horde. "They're just… waiting. Like they're under orders."
Ethan "Brain" O'Connor's voice buzzed over the comms. "Confirming abnormal behavior. Heat signatures indicate minimal movement. I'm also detecting higher brainwave activity. Whatever's controlling them is nearby."
As if on cue, a guttural roar echoed through the alley, reverberating off the walls. The horde came alive, their glowing red eyes locking onto the ZETU team. From the far end of the corridor, a massive figure emerged—a grotesque amalgamation of flesh and decay, its body pulsating with an unholy red light.
"That's no ordinary Screecher," Brain said, his voice tense. "It's a Hive Alpha. They don't just control the horde—they amplify them."
"Fan-freaking-tastic," Blaze muttered, igniting her flamethrower. "Let's see how it likes fire."
The Hive Alpha raised its arms, emitting a deafening shriek. The zombies surged forward like a tidal wave. Blaze unleashed a torrent of flames, incinerating the front line, but the horde pressed on, undeterred.
"Quick Shot, we need cover fire!" Kane barked.
From above, Riley's rifle cracked, each shot dropping a zombie with surgical precision. "I've got you, but this thing is thick. We need a plan, fast!"
Kane shouted, "Shield, form a barrier! Huntress, find us a weak spot on that Alpha!"
While Shield held the line against the charging horde, Lila darted into the shadows, her dual pistols picking off zombies as she closed in on the Hive Alpha. Her tracker buzzed urgently as she spotted a pulsing mass on its back. "Kane, there's a weak spot—its spine! But we'll need to get behind it!"
"On it," Kane said. "Blaze, cover me. We take this thing down, now!"
The team charged, the crimson alley transforming into a fiery battlefield of survival.
