The Red Zone's high-rise buildings loomed ominously, their shattered windows reflecting the toxic green glow of the night sky. The streets below were a battlefield drenched in blood and chaos, littered with the remnants of human desperation. The ZETU team pressed forward, every step echoing in the eerie silence between the growls of the undead.

"Eyes up," Captain Marcus "Iron Will" Kane ordered, his shotgun poised and ready. "We're deep in the heart of their hunting ground now."

"Movement, seven o'clock," Riley "Quick Shot" Bennett reported from her overwatch position on a nearby rooftop. Through her sniper scope, she tracked a group of zombies shambling out from a side alley, their glowing eyes reflecting the neon signs of the ruined city.

"Standard horde," she continued, "but... wait. There's something bigger in the back."

"Bigger?" Sergeant Jenna "Blaze" Hart asked, gripping her flamethrower tighter. "I thought last night's freak was bad enough."

Riley adjusted her focus, spotting a massive figure lumbering behind the pack. Its grotesque frame was covered in pulsating growths, and its clawed hands dragged a rusted metal beam along the ground.

"Another mutant," Riley confirmed grimly. "And it's armed."

"Damn it," Kane muttered. "Blaze, prep for crowd control. Shield, take point. Huntress, find us a fallback route. Brain, I need eyes on any civilian presence in the area."

"Copy that," Tech Specialist Ethan "Brain" O'Connor replied, his tablet flickering with live drone feeds. "Scanning now... No civilians in the immediate vicinity, but there's a structural collapse two blocks east. Could be a good choke point if we need to funnel them."

"Noted," Kane said. "Alright, people, let's keep this tight. Blaze, light 'em up!"

Jenna stepped forward, unleashing a stream of fire into the advancing horde. Zombies flailed and shrieked as they burned, the flames casting dancing shadows against the dilapidated buildings. Derek "Shield" Coleman moved in tandem, using his reinforced riot shield to block stragglers attempting to flank the team.

The mutant roared, swinging its improvised weapon in a wide arc. The force sent debris flying, shattering windows and toppling abandoned cars.

"Quick Shot, take the big one!" Kane barked.

"On it," Riley replied, lining up her shot. Her first bullet pierced one of the creature's growths, causing it to stumble and screech in pain.

"Nice hit!" Jenna shouted, dousing the creature with flames.

But the mutant wasn't going down easily. It charged through the inferno, its grotesque frame ablaze but unrelenting.

"Fallback point now!" Kane ordered. "Huntress, lead the way!"

Detective Lila "Huntress" Navarro signaled the team, weaving through the maze of rubble and wrecked vehicles. The mutant pursued, its heavy footsteps shaking the ground.

As the team reached the collapsed building, Ethan triggered a pre-set explosive, sending a wall of debris crashing down onto the mutant.

The dust settled, and silence returned.

"Is it down?" Derek asked, breathing heavily.

"For now," Kane replied. "But something tells me this city isn't done with us yet."
