Hollywood Zenith-Chapter 1223: Family-2
"Samuel Rothchild!" His mother yelled.
"Yes." He immediately rushed and knelt before her like her loyal son.
"Have you gone back to your old ways?"
"No mother. How could I ever dare to disobey your orders? I was-"
"No, I don't want to hear more excuses. Your actions have shown us where your loyalty lies. What's this I am hearing about you fighting again?"
"It's simply a misunderstanding-"
"Boy, don't dare lie to us. We hear that you put him in the hospital?" Robert chimed in not willing to let him slip easily.
"I was just doing my civic duty as a citizen. He was harassing and even trying to abduct a girl so I-"
"So you took the matter into your own hand and became the knight for the damsel in distress." Kenneth, his grand father finished it for him.
"Miss Kate and Miss Bella told me that they were there and then people even pulled their guns in the process? Can't you worry about their well being first?" Margaret commented.
"Come on, there is no need for you people to interrogate Sami like this. What he did was right." Patricia took his side. She was among the few who could actually help him fight against them as she was older than them despite her not meddling much in family matters.
"Still, he should have tried to diffuse the situation first. There was no need to beat up the party so badly. That's why I always objected against teaching kids martial arts." Donald, Patricia's husband who was also Kenneth's older brother unexpectedly didn't take his side.
"I tend to lose my sight of reasoning when being threatened but I have my reasons." He glanced at Kate for just a moment before turning away.
"Fine. What about your ongoing wat against that family? Although we are powerful, we can't go around bullying the weak just because we felt like it." Laura asked.
"Sometimes, it's not good to hold grudges that would come to bite us in the back." Robert added.
"My sister called me last night telling me that we have spoiled him too much. He has lost himself in the sea of power which might not turn nicely for him in the future." Margaret dropped a bombshell out of nowhere.
"You mean the Queen called you? Why didn't you say anything to me?" Kenneth asked.
"I thought it was best to know what he said to my little sister to make her this mad. She has always been fond of him even taking him in despite his unusual origins-"
"Mother! We promised we will never discuss this in the house!" Robert stood up enraged by his mother's strange tone.
"Don't dare to raise your voice against me. I never said anything but it's not right to be this spontaneous in everything. He went and met her before saying something that made her mad enough for her to threaten me. There had been only three occasions when someone dared to and each time they live to regret it."
"Calm down. You might say something that you will regret later." Her husband warned her but she was serious.
She stared at Samuel with unprecedented intensity fully displaying her regal aura. She was someone from the fleeting era but it didn't mean her noble temperament would be diminished by modern nonsense.
Samuel stood up knowing this had gotten serious. There was no need for him to keep the cowardly act and he had to face the matriach head on.
"Grandmother, if you have something to say, you can do it without mending your words."
She gave him a smile which couldn't be further from her usual kind one.
"You know, there is one thing I have always been clear about ever since you came to this house."
The atmosphere became suffocating, everyone still refuseing to believe that she went there.
"Mother." Both Laura and Robert didn't know why she was acting so strange all of a sudden.
Mary and Peter were in the corner not even daring to breath while other elders looked at her in disbelief.
The reason for it was simple, it was her who made the rule to not casually mention about Samuel's adoption because she felt like it would negatively impact him, alienating him because he wasn't blood related.
"I always felt that your eyes reflected your thoughts perfectly. The times when you did something extraordinary became a norm for everyone but I have never seen a child so special that it broke the natural rule to this extent."
"I am honoured to receive such recognition-"
"There is no need for resort to these cheap flattery. The reason why people love you is because you can mask their responses and even surprise them on occasion leaving a good impression on them."
"I am sorry, I am not understanding what you are trying to say."
"Lies. You know exactly what I am talking about. You might not be a member of this family since you are adopted but we gave you everything and never doubted you even during times when we should have pulled your reigns to suppress you but I will not allow you to destroy everything our ancestors have built because of your petty fueds."
"You seem disappointed."
"I am. You know not everyone could stay on the top and would have to rake the leap of fall to go through hardships to either adapt or perish but that doesn't mean we have to purposefully drive ourselves to the end just because we can. As the member of this family, you have a duty to uphold the family name first and foremost before your personal needs but you seem incapable to understand this fact."

"Margaret..aren't you being too harsh?" Patricia tried to make her see reason but her mind was set.
" No, I understand. If you want I can leave the family and forgo the Rothsch-"
"Sami! Don't you dare finish your sentence!" Laura couldn't take it. She stood up as her motherly instict took over.
Family, fame or fortune? Nothing mattered to her more than her two sons. If they feel like he soiled the family name then she too will willingly leave everything and go with her son.
