Chapter 750: Drinking

Daisy sat at the bus stop for a few minutes before receiving a call from the Stephens family’s driver.

"Hello?"

"Is this Miss Ginger? The Second Young Master asked me to pick you up. Where are you now?"

Daisy gave the address and sighed.

After waiting for about ten minutes, Daisy got into the car heading back to the Stephens family home.

That evening, Edward Stephens didn’t come back.

Daisy had dinner with Erin and then checked her WeChat, typing a message: "Edward, remember to text me when you get back."

Looking at the phone with no response, Daisy sat on the sofa and couldn’t help but sigh again.

Unexpectedly, after all the truths were revealed, it turned out to be her and Edward who had a conflict.

Edward was so angry that he didn’t come home.

The next morning, Daisy and Erin were having breakfast together in a clean and bright dining room.

Daisy fed him a glutinous rice ball and heard little Erin softly ask her, "Mommy, where did Daddy go?"

This was a question Daisy also wanted to know.

Edward hadn’t returned home overnight and didn’t reply to her messages. Who knows where he went.

Daisy said, "Your dad ran away from home."

"Then let’s go find him and bring him back."

Little Erin immediately put down his spoon and became serious.

Daisy nodded, fed him another rice ball, and said, "Alright, after you finish breakfast, we’ll go out to find your father."

After finishing breakfast, Daisy gave Ryan Smith a call.

Then, she got Edward’s current location and headed out with little Erin.

*

Edward woke up from a hangover.

The effects of the alcohol hadn’t dissipated. His head was throbbing with pain as he pressed his hand against his forehead to lift himself from the sofa. Fighting the waves of nausea, he staggered to the washroom, dry heaved for a while, then looked at his pale face in the mirror, his eyes bloodshot.

Bending down, he washed his face. The icy water finally cooled his feverish mind a bit. Leaving the washroom, he sat on the sofa, leaning wearily against the back.

He called for room service to send some food over, then pulled out his phone to check missed calls and messages. Daisy had called him twice and sent a WeChat message.

The message was sent around 7 or 8 PM last night.

By that time, he was already passed out from drinking too much.

Just as he hesitated about whether to reply to Daisy, there was a knock on the door.

He set down his phone and lazily walked to the door. As he was reaching out to take the food from the waiter, a small figure crashed into his arms.

Instinctively, Edward caught him. The little figure quickly retreated a step, pinched his little nose, and mumbled, "Daddy, you smell bad."

Daisy stood behind little Erin and discreetly took a step back, trying to avoid the source of the alcohol smell in front of her.

"You guys..." The man was momentarily stunned, quickly understanding, "What are you doing here?"

Daisy stepped in, glanced at the ten or so empty wine bottles on the floor and the ashtray full of cigarette butts, and couldn’t help but furrow her brows.

No wonder it smelled so bad, staying in this suite all night must have absorbed the stench, right?

Daisy scanned the room before turning back to Edward and lifting her chin, "Catching you in the act!"

Bringing the kid here to catch him in the act?

Edward rolled his eyes and glanced at little Erin, saying to Daisy, "Take him home."

This is not a place suitable for kids.

Daisy shrugged, "Your son has probably been to the bar countless times; what’s a club compared to that?"

"..." Edward was speechless.

This is how she mothers?

The waiter came over with steak and pasta. Edward ordered a fruit plate and then asked little Erin, "Have you eaten?"

Little Erin nodded, "I have."

Edward still cut a small piece of steak for him. Father and son sat together eating the steak.

Daisy looked at the man’s crumpled clothes and messy hair, sighed softly, booked him some clean clothes on her phone, then sat across from him, saying, "You’ve run away from home and had your drink; are you calm now?"

The man glanced at her, "Where’s your apology?"

"I haven’t even pursued the fact that you kicked me out of the car yet."

"I called a car for you."

Okay then.

Daisy sighed lightly, "I was wrong beforehand. I didn’t empathize with you. I was wrong, Edward, forgive me."

Edward eyed her, snorted coldly, and lowered his head to share pasta with little Erin.

Little Erin had eaten, yet sitting next to Edward, he still continued eating, as if she hadn’t fed him enough.

Daisy sat across from them, speechless for a moment, just quietly waiting for the father and son to finish eating. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

The clothes arrived, and Edward went to the washroom to freshen up. Daisy pulled Erin over, patted his round little belly, and couldn’t help but say, "Little glutton."

"Mommy, why did you apologize to Daddy?" Little Erin blinked his bright eyes and softly asked her.

"Because Mommy said something that hurt your Daddy’s feelings." Daisy ruffled his little head.

She hoped Edward would be kind to George Stephens and take good care of him.

It’s an impossible demand.

If he had known from the start that George wasn’t his son, fine, but he was disgusted by George’s existence for eight or nine years, and now that he’s finally liberated, how could he easily let go of his knot?

But she could no longer speak for George, that child was all alone at the Stephens home, what would happen to him in the future?

Daisy held Erin on the sofa, thinking of George’s small, lonely figure. He was the casualty of the relationship between Robert Stephens and Charlotte Smith, so innocent.

As the misunderstanding cleared away, any lingering resentment she had toward George vanished.

Edward came out after his shower, feeling steamy all over.

Daisy let go as she watched little Erin run over. Edward squatted down, and father and son chatted intimately, face to face.

Daisy propped her face on her hand, watching the two’s interaction for a while, her expression softening with a calm smile, her gaze light and gentle.

The man glanced her way, meeting her gaze, then sighed softly in his heart, scooped up Erin, walked over, took her hand, "Time to go home."

No matter how angry he was at her lack of empathy, he couldn’t stay mad for long.

No matter how big the temper was, it would melt away in her gaze.

Daisy held his hand, looked up and smiled at him, standing, "Not mad anymore?"

"No."

"Don’t drink so much champagne next time."

The man glared playfully, "Don’t drink champagne, drink you?"

"..." Daisy was speechless, stepping on his foot.

What are you saying in front of the child?
