Chapter 716: Duplicitous

Daisy Ginger’s face turned even redder.

She refused to admit, "Nonsense."

"Heh." The man let out a low chuckle, commenting, "Saying one thing and meaning another."

Daisy couldn’t stand it, she slipped out from his embrace, straddled his waist, and fervently gripped the man’s shoulders with her slender fingers, shaking him, "Stop babbling! Give me back the ring!"

The man chuckled a couple of times, seeing her dodge the issue, and didn’t pursue it further.

He grasped Daisy’s fingers, squeezing them tightly in his palm. Daisy was momentarily stunned, wanting to pull her hand away, when in the next second, she felt something cool and solid being slowly slipped onto her ring finger.

In her heart, something seemed to be just as restrained as that circle on her ring finger. Daisy took a gentle breath, and for a moment, her heart skipped a beat.

She looked toward Edward Stephens, and the man was also looking at her, his delicate features serious, his gaze deep and solemn.

He seriously put the ring back on her ring finger.

Daisy slowly lowered her head, looking at the silver platinum diamond ring on her finger. Over the years, she had only looked at it, never putting it back on.

Not because of anything, just thinking...

It was meaningless.

Edward Stephens said, "Don’t lose it again in the future."

Clearly, he was the one who stole it...

Daisy didn’t speak, simply holding onto his hand, "What about yours?"

The man laughed, "Didn’t bring it. Probably at home."

"You..." Daisy was somewhat exasperated, feeling teased by him.

"What, what? My life is yours, what’s a mere ring?"

"...Then I’m yours too."

The man let out a light snort, pinched her fair little face, not happy, "If I don’t keep you well guarded, you’d run off with another man in no time."

So this ring was to prevent her from running off with some other wild man?

Jealousy so strong, heart so small.

Daisy pinched his finger, softly saying, "Edward, shall we go to your place to get your ring back?"

The man lazily glanced at her, "Got nothing better to do?"

"Let’s go, let’s go." She shook his arm.

His slightly furrowed handsome brows showed, he gave Daisy a glance, patting her bottom, hinting her to get off his waist. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Daisy said, "Making a trip back doesn’t hurt. I’ll always be with you."

"..."

"He’s your brother. It could be your last meeting."

Edward Stephens’ eyes grew a shade colder, he asked, "Did you forget how he’s treated you over these years?"

"I don’t care if he lives or dies." Daisy kissed his chin, gently saying, "But I’m afraid you might regret it."

That’s his family.

His only brother.

This lifetime, perhaps it’s the last glance.

Just like her with Alice Lesser, she hated Alice for leaving her without care, but not seeing her again, she still regretted not visiting her more in those years.

They are kin by blood, they are one’s belonging in this world.

Edward Stephens’ dark eyes gazed at her, and after a moment, he suddenly pushed her away, got up from the sofa, and left.

In a stormy rush, it was clear his anger hadn’t subsided.

Daisy sat on the sofa, watching the man’s back, deliberately saying, "I’ll book the ticket for tomorrow."

The man ignored her.

The sound of footsteps faded away.

Daisy let out a soft sigh.

Turns out he does care, if he didn’t, he wouldn’t have reacted so strongly.
