Hold On Mr.! Your Sweetheart is a Real Queen-Chapter 683: Childish ghost
Daisy ginger wrinkled her brow, somewhat unwillingly: "I didn’t plan to stay long."
"Then how many days do you plan to wear these clothes?" Edward Stephens crossed his arms, eyeing her, "I don’t have a dryer here, if they stink, it’s not my problem."
Hearing him say this, Daisy faintly sensed a smell coming from her clothes.
When she left the house, she never thought Edward would run off to such a backwater. Besides a passport and toiletries, she didn’t even bring a change of underwear, and there was only a warm coat left in her suitcase.
She pursed her lips, deliberately said, "You have money to buy clothes?"
The man curled his lips, seemingly smiling faintly, "There’s still enough to buy you a few pieces."
Daisy came out of the house, following him downstairs. She walked with her head down, trudging along half a meter behind the man.
The man in front suddenly slowed down, and Daisy couldn’t brake in time, bumping her forehead and pointed nose into his firm muscular back. She winced painfully with a light "oomph," and as she looked up, she saw he had already calmly headed downstairs.
"..." That guy did it on purpose!
Daisy stood at the stairway entrance, her breath caught, nearly calling his name in anger.
In his thirties and still so childish!
She rubbed her sore nose and went to the dining room, where two bowls of fruit oatmeal porridge and two plates of grilled chicken breast sat—an authentic American breakfast.
Daisy asked Irene for a cup of coffee, didn’t touch the fruit oatmeal porridge, and only took a few bites of chicken breast.
Having grown up in Banyan City, her taste was very Chinese. Americans seem to survive on chicken breasts and beef three meals a day, and she couldn’t go a single day without carbs.
When staying with the Stephens family, the chef cooked both Western and Chinese dishes, so Daisy didn’t mind. But after two meals of authentic Western food these past couple of days, Daisy felt she couldn’t eat anymore.
Edward, however, leisurely finished his breakfast, then went upstairs to change his loungewear, calling her to go out and buy clothes.
Daisy went out with him.
This small town wasn’t big, probably hosting less than a thousand residents. Though nestled between mountains and water, in Daisy’s eyes, apart from fresher air, it had nothing worthwhile compared to the city.
The women’s clothing store was the only one around, its styles outdated, and even the smallest size was too big for Daisy.
After picking a few barely acceptable outfits to buy, Daisy could no longer hold back, telling the man waiting at the door, "When on earth are you going back?"
Edward casually flicked a small stone with his toe, "Go back? For what?"
"Is there anything fun around here?"
"No matter how bad it is here, isn’t it better than at home?"
Daisy frowned, unable to understand the appeal of such a lousy place.
The man glanced at her, walked over and took the clothes from her, curling his lips into a smile, "Didn’t I say I’d pay? Why did you buy them yourself?" 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Daisy snorted, "Afraid you won’t even be able to pay next month’s rent."
"Oh..." The man nodded, "Didn’t realize you were so considerate."
"..."
Daisy didn’t want to engage in this trivial banter, so she followed alongside him, watching him lazily slide one hand into his pocket, smiling and greeting the townsfolk, looking entirely at ease.
An honorable second young master of the Stephens family, he must be crazy to hang around in such a backward, secluded village like this. Daisy didn’t know why, but the more she thought about it, the more furious she got.
Edward Stephens, this man, is utterly infuriating!
