Chapter 32: Destroying the Goblin Forces

Aamon fell silent for a moment. The item Mira had was promising, at least for his current level. It was a level B dungeon map.

In general, dungeon levels were divided into five tiers. The lowest was level C, followed by level B, level A, level R, and level S as the highest.

The depth of each dungeon also varied. A level B dungeon usually had around five to ten floors.

The rewards varied as well. Aamon was certain he would obtain equipment or weapons from every dungeon run, but the quality depended on the dungeon level.

The higher the level, the better the quality of the equipment and items obtained.

"You haven’t used it yet?" Aamon asked.

"Not yet. I’m still afraid to explore it alone," Mira replied.

She materialized the item into its physical form, a yellowed sheet of paper with a map drawn on it. She handed it to Aamon, and he activated it with a double tap.

[Congratulations! You obtained a dungeon map]

[Level: B]

[Coordinates: 45.57613027166568, -85.57388970845793]

A digital map appeared, a feature of the dungeon map, displaying the Michigan region. Based on the coordinates, the dungeon portal was located on an island in the middle of Lake Michigan.

"So?" Mira asked.

Aamon had already obtained the dungeon map. It was a valuable item, especially since it was a level B dungeon. He turned and looked straight at Mira.

"Alright. We have a deal."

Mira smiled and stepped with him toward the edge of the rooftop. Together, they looked down as the survivors from the two factions began to struggle against the goblin assault.

"You and I will work together from the front line, then keep pushing until—"

"That’s not effective," Aamon cut in, glancing to the side.

He picked up a pair of binoculars and looked toward the western road. Through them, he mapped out the location of the goblin leader and the center of their attack.

"If we want to stop this, our focus is killing the shaman."

A goblin shaman, a goblin capable of casting dark magic, was usually positioned at the back, protected by other goblins. Fortunately, there were no orcs in this wave.

Mira looked in the same direction and shook her head. "We can’t break through if there are too many goblins!"

"I’m enough."

The woman beside him froze in shock. "Are you sure? If you get trapped in there, I won’t be able to help you."

Aamon nodded without a word. He put away the binoculars and summoned his sword. "I’m sure."

Before leaving, Aamon turned and asked Mira to prepare something.

He told her to activate defensive magic to block the goblin attacks, then rely on ranged attacks to handle them.

Mira listened. It was worth trying, especially since the blue faction had many mages.

Aamon went on to explain that he would slip through the goblin ranks and target the goblin shaman.

If they managed to kill and behead the shaman, the goblin army would lose control and retreat from the city.

"Alright. I’ll leave the goblin shaman to you."

Mira quickly ran off the rooftop, returning to the blue faction lines and ordering the mages to begin casting defensive spells.

Aamon ran down the stairs, slipping from one building to another without being detected by the goblins.

There were many of them, but they were foolish enough to lower their guard. After all, goblins were among the weakest fantasy monsters.

Aamon’s stealth mode ended as he hid on the first floor of a building, close to the goblin shaman’s location.

From his position, he counted around twenty goblins guarding the shaman, who sat in the center on a crude wooden throne.

He glanced east, watching the blue and purple factions holding their ground with his suggested strategy. But they were reaching their limits.

If he didn’t act soon, their defenses would collapse and the survivors would be in danger again.

Wasting time would only make things worse.

[Assassin Skill: Death Sigil]

Aamon activated his skill and rushed out of the building in stealth mode. No one noticed him until he was already close to the shaman.

The goblin shaman suddenly turned and looked straight at him. Its eyes glowed red with magic, able to detect Aamon even in stealth.

It pointed and shouted in its language, ordering the goblins guarding it to attack.

Aamon was caught off guard. He immediately reacted, launching an iron needle forward that struck the goblin shaman directly.

The shaman screamed again, slamming its staff against the ground several times, sending a warning signal to the goblins at the front line.

They heard the signal. One by one, the goblins began retreating in a suspicious manner. Many survivors cheered, thinking the goblins were afraid of them.

But Mira realized what was happening. She drew her sword and ordered all survivors to charge forward, chasing the goblins and killing them before they could regroup and surround Aamon.

Elsewhere, Aamon’s stealth ended, and his presence was immediately exposed. The goblins raised their axes and rushed at him with savage expressions.

[Sword Skill: 1000 Sword Movement 10x]

[Skill Effect 10x Activated]

His body and blade glowed blue. Aamon dashed forward, striking every goblin in his path with slashes and thrusts.

His blade cut through their necks, then pierced their bodies and heads.

His attack speed increased with every hit, starting from ten, rising to twenty, and continuing to climb as his movements accelerated.

Blue afterimages and flashes of sword strikes filled the battlefield. Mira watched in shock. How could Aamon defeat them all with assassin abilities alone?

He’s not ordinary...

From the east, the survivors attacked the goblins’ blind spots. Caught between two fronts, the goblins were helpless.

They only had two choices: die by Aamon’s hand or die by the factions.

The twenty goblins guarding the shaman were wounded and quickly defeated. Aamon’s eyes glowed blue from the active skill.

As he closed in on the goblin shaman, he swung his sword in a diagonal arc. The shaman might have been skilled in dark magic, but in close combat, it was useless.

"AAAKHHH!"

Aamon thrust his blade forward, piercing straight through the shaman’s head and crushing its face.

He grabbed the creature by the throat, then drove his sword into its abdomen, tearing it apart.

The goblin shaman screamed in agony, struggling to break free from Aamon’s grip.

But within seconds, its strength faded as blood poured from the wounds across its body. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Aamon deactivated his skill. There was no small explosion from the wounds since the hit count hadn’t reached one hundred.

Still, the 10x damage boost made his attacks against low-level monsters like goblins devastating.

He glanced east. Mira and the faction members were finishing the battle.

The survivors had the upper hand now, slaughtering goblins relentlessly for EXP, contribution points, and coins.

Aamon’s task was complete. He couldn’t be seen among them, not after killing the red faction leader.

There was no way they would let him go if they found him.

He tossed the goblin shaman’s corpse aside, activated his assassin skill, and slipped into a nearby building.

No one followed him. Both goblins and survivors were too busy fighting.

Aamon reached the second floor and entered a room. He pulled back the curtain and looked out the window, watching the goblins flee the city streets.

"YEAH! WE WON!"

"The goblins are defeated!"

Mira stood before the shaman’s corpse, its body still bleeding heavily. The blue faction leader approached her.

"Did you kill it, Mira?" he asked. She shook her head.

"No," Mira said. "Someone else did."

"Who? Where is he? He deserves a reward!" the man said firmly.

Mira gave a small smile, glancing around behind her.

"I doubt... he’d want that."
