Chapter 678: Need

Daisy Ginger glanced at his profile a few times, then slowly retracted her gaze without saying a word, and just followed Edward Stephens into the dining room.

The dining room had a round wooden table set with meals for two, all Western-style, with bread, cream soup, and some beef that Edward Stephens had bought from the supermarket.

She was indeed hungry, and the smell of the roasted beef made her stomach growl.

Irene seemed to hear the growling of her stomach, glanced at her, and very warmly pushed her to the table, handing her the utensils.

Edward Stephens sat down beside her, "The roast beef she made is very good, you should try it."

Daisy Ginger looked up to see Irene standing cheerfully aside watching her. She pressed her lips together and looked away, lowering her head to take a bite of the beef.

"It’s delicious, thank you."

She said to her in English.

Irene’s smile grew even wider as she eagerly served her creamy mushroom soup and cut her some bread.

She seemed like a happy little girl, with a carefree expression on her beautiful face.

Daisy Ginger looked up at Edward Stephens and saw that he was also looking at Irene.

"..."

She pursed her lips slightly, lowered her head and looked away, finishing the bread in a few bites and then got up from the chair.

"All done eating?"

The man raised his eyes to look at her, seemingly a bit surprised.

"I’m heading back."

She said.

"Where to?" Edward raised his eyebrows slightly, "It’s rare to come here for fun, why not stay a few days?"

Daisy Ginger felt a bit tired, lower her head and glanced at him, said lightly, "I’ll find a place to take a nap."

"There’s a bedroom upstairs, no need to trouble yourself," he said, then turned to Irene, "Irene, take her upstairs to rest."

Daisy Ginger furrowed her brows, just about to refuse, when she saw Irene eagerly rushing over to take her upstairs.

"I..." She looked at the enthusiastic smile on her face, unable to voice her refusal, hesitated for a moment, and was still led upstairs by her.

The guest room was small, but at least it was clean. Daisy Ginger stood at the door and thanked Irene.

The young girl beamed with happiness, waving her hand in front of her, like a cheerful little deer, and ran off.

Daisy Ginger watched her leave, then breathed out slightly. She pinched her aching brow and went over to sit on the bed.

Maybe she was too tired, so tired that her brain couldn’t think about anything. She couldn’t understand what Edward Stephens wanted, and lacked the energy to figure it out. The moment she touched the bed, she fell asleep.

Until she felt a slight weight on her body, something warm pressing down on her, she suddenly awoke.

The outside was already dim. Daisy Ginger, still groggy, could feel the kisses falling on her cheek.

Her body too weary to lift a hand, the kisses grew more intimate until they settled coolly on the corner of her lips. She parted her mouth drowsily, and an odd yearning suddenly surged from the depths of her heart.

This yearning, like a splash of cold water pouring over her head, made her instantly awake.

There was no one in the room, only the dim sunlight from the window casting on her, and the air felt cold and distant.

She had been dreaming.

And it was...

A dream.

Slightly moving, she could feel a warm current deep in her abdomen.

"..."

Daisy Ginger turned over, clutched her collar, and let out a soft breath, a blush spreading across the side of her fair face.

Could it be, really as Zoe Hilker said...

She needed a man?
