Chapter 637: He is no longer the person I once loved.

It took a whole twelve-hour flight from the airport to arrive in Chicago.

In early summer, Chicago’s nightlife was very lively.

Daisy Ginger held Erin Ginger’s hand as they came out from the airport. The three of them had a meal at a restaurant near the airport. Ryan Smith told her it was getting late, and he feared driving on the highway at night might be dangerous. He suggested they stay at a nearby hotel for a night and visit Edward Stephens in the hospital tomorrow.

Daisy didn’t have much to say about it. Throughout the flight, her expression remained indifferent. Ryan noticed her demeanor as if she’d come specifically to bring Erin to see Edward and then leave, not planning to stay even a day.

The sweetness of the past seemed to linger close by, yet seeing her indifferent appearance, Ryan felt a subtle pain.

He wondered what Edward Stephens’ reaction would be to Daisy’s manner tomorrow.

After spending a night at the hotel, the three continued on their way, the destination being the place where Edward Stephens was now hospitalized.

When Ryan’s car stopped in front of the private hospital where Edward had once undergone rehabilitation, Daisy’s fingers trembled uncontrollably.

She wasn’t fond of this place, nor did she like this hospital. Her emotions hadn’t shown it yet, but her body was already rejecting it.

Ryan made a phone call first, and after finishing, he led Daisy inside.

Daisy didn’t ask who he had spoken to; she only showed a slightly solemn look, holding Erin’s hand as they walked in slowly.

Three years had passed, but nothing had changed in this hospital, familiar enough to inspire a sense of distaste.

Edward Stephens was still in the same ward. Ryan knocked on the door, and soon, it was opened from inside.

A slim figure appeared at the door. When she saw Daisy behind her, she hesitated for a moment, stepped aside, and let them pass.

Daisy didn’t enter but softly patted Erin’s shoulder, saying to him, "Erin, go in and see your dad."

Erin looked up at her, and Daisy gently pushed him into the ward. She stepped back and stayed outside.

Ryan hadn’t expected Daisy would refuse to see Edward and instinctively called out to her, "Daisy..."

Daisy turned around calmly and walked towards the ventilation shaft not far away.

It seemed she intended to wait there until Erin finished his visit with Edward.

"You go in first," Ryan gently patted Erin’s shoulder, nudging him inside, then walked over to Daisy’s side.

By the open window, a woman with exquisite and stunning features leaned against the wall, a cigarette held by her moist lips, igniting a scarlet flame.

Unquestionably, every meeting with her brought a stunning beauty.

Time had softened her brilliance. A woman who once shone as brightly as the sun now carried a few aloof and indifferent qualities given by time, making her look both contradictory and alluring.

Even someone like Ryan, who’d seen countless beauties in his life, found her increasingly beautiful, a first.

It’s no wonder Edward Stephens would go to any lengths to meet her again.

Ryan asked her, "Aren’t you planning to go in and see him?"

Daisy looked out the window, exhaled a soft puff of smoke, her eyes appearing reserved and cool.

"I don’t think there’s much to see anymore."

"All these years, haven’t you missed him?"

"Even if I missed him, it’s the him from four years ago," Daisy lowered her eyes, slowly flicking the grayish-white ash from her fingertips. "He is no longer the person I once loved."
