Chapter 623: Transfer Target

Robert Stephens had an unusually strong desire to control his younger brother, which stemmed from "love," but in Daisy Ginger’s eyes, it was almost akin to hatred.

This excessive desire to control, or perhaps—protect—one wonders what this man had experienced in the past to discipline his brother to such an extent, even forcibly drying up his emotions.

Daisy Ginger knew that Coco probably wouldn’t end well either. Having caught Robert Stephens’ attention, even with Edward Stephens’ protection, she’d either end up dead or stripped of a layer of skin.

Lady Stephens was worried all the time, deeply troubled. She would send good things over to Daisy Ginger, but she dared not come herself, unsure of how to face her.

As Daisy Ginger ate the bird’s nest soup sent by Lady Stephens, she felt that Lady Stephens had it quite hard. Her eldest son wasn’t under her discipline, her own son was rebellious, and another former daughter-in-law brought her grandson along to meddle, unable to have a say anywhere.

Watching Erin Ginger’s teachers change one after another, and with Daisy Ginger idly picking at her feet at home every day, she finally decided to go out for a change of scenery.

She contacted Robert Stephens and told him not to find any more teachers for Erin, as she planned to take him on a vacation.

The man initially disagreed, saying she could go out, but Erin had to stay behind. Later, for some reason, after a few days of entanglement, he suddenly transferred a sum of money to her bank account, telling her to hurry up and leave, to stop bothering him.

He was probably annoyed to death by her.

Edward Stephens’ attention wasn’t on her anymore, so he didn’t keep her in mind, believing she no longer posed a threat to Edward.

Daisy Ginger felt that Robert Stephens was just like a new mother who had just given birth, with a terrifying possessiveness and protectiveness over his child, fearing they’d fall, get hurt, or make any trivial mistake blown out of proportion; his methods were much more ruthless than a new mother’s.

Now, Daisy Ginger could finally see Robert Stephens’ actions from an outsider’s perspective; his self-righteous love was pathologically unknown.

Edward Stephens, being in the midst of it, had no idea how resigned he was.

Robert Stephens was very generous, transferring ten million to her account in one go. He even found a professional guide for her, planning a world tour route.

He said it would be great for Erin to go out and broaden his horizons, to experience foreign cultures.

Even though Daisy Ginger still felt he was just annoyed by her and found an excuse to let her go out.

Daisy Ginger chose a sunny afternoon to go out.

While packing her suitcase, Erin had already changed into his travel clothes and was watching by the door.

He seemed very excited about the chance to go out and play with Daisy Ginger.

Children have this advantage; although they miss their parents, they can quickly be distracted by other things, not holding onto painful memories for long.

As Daisy Ginger packed her toiletries into her suitcase, she glanced at Erin. She wondered when they’d return after this departure, and perhaps the next time she’d hear about Edward would be at his and Coco’s wedding. Would she bring Erin along to show him his father, or just let it be?

Robert Stephens probably wouldn’t hold a cold war with Edward for long. Since he loves him, as long as Coco isn’t dead, sooner or later, he would compromise.
