Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard-Chapter 510 - 508: Professor Rockneil
The package was sent by Sirius, could it be... Kael seemed to have thought of something and immediately opened the package.
As expected, it was just as he guessed, inside was a finely crafted broom.
Firebolt.
The day Sirius was acquitted, he wanted to buy it and give it to Kael, but at that time, Kael refused, arguing that there was no Quidditch game this year.
Unexpectedly, a few months later, he bought it anyway.
"Firebolt, is this a gift for the champion from someone?" Cedric shouted excitedly, "We have a Firebolt too now, this... oh no, there’s no Quidditch game this year."
Cedric seemed a bit disappointed but quickly cheered up again.
Anyway, having a Firebolt is always good, they can completely use it next year, at that time he really wants to see if that Gryffindor... especially Fred and George, can still be so arrogant.
Mikel was also very excited, carefully examining the Firebolt as if admiring a rare treasure.
"What a pity..." he muttered softly, "It would be great if we could bring brooms to the Triwizard Tournament."
...
Soon, everyone knew that Kael had received a Firebolt.
But because they were all thinking about tomorrow’s Triwizard Tournament, and since Harry also received a Firebolt last year, the novelty had passed, so it didn’t cause too much of a stir.
Kael looked at the note written by Sirius again, but didn’t say anything, just put the Firebolt back in the dormitory and went to class.
However, what he didn’t expect was, today’s surprise wasn’t just a Firebolt.
The last class in the morning was Care of Magical Creatures, Hagrid somehow got hold of a bunch of Fire Crabs, these jewel-backed creatures quickly caught everyone’s interest.
While everyone was busy feeding lettuce to the Fire Crabs, Hagrid quietly approached Kael.
He leaned down, pretending to observe the lettuce leaves on the ground, and whispered very softly, "Come to my hut at midnight today, make sure not to be seen by others."
Then Hagrid straightened up and said loudly, "Very good, Kael, you’ve mastered the technique of feeding Fire Crabs completely." He winked slyly and walked away.
"Why did Hagrid ask you to find him?" Conna asked.
"He probably wants to show me something." Kael said, "We can go together tonight... if you don’t want to sleep."
"But is this okay?" Conna said, "What if we get caught."
"Don’t worry." Kael smiled, "This is when the Invisibility Cloak comes in handy, I can use the Disillusionment Charm to hide very well without it."
Conna’s eyes lit up, and she nodded vigorously.
So in the afternoon, Kael handed the Invisibility Cloak to Conna. At around eleven-thirty at night, Kael used the Disillusionment Charm to quietly leave the dormitory and crossed through the wooden door of the common room to the corridor outside.
He waited outside for a while, and a few minutes later, the door to the wooden barrel opened again a crack.
"Conna?" Kael tentatively asked in a low voice.
"It’s me."
A head suddenly appeared in mid-air. Conna said nervously, "How about you, you weren’t discovered, were you."
"No." Kael said, "They stayed up late doing their homework yesterday, they went to bed at eleven today."
"Me too." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
Then Conna put on the Invisibility Cloak again, and the two followed the planned path through the castle.
The outside was pitch black, and they followed the path toward the light coming from Hagrid’s hut.
However, they weren’t the only ones coming here tonight, the hut door was half open, and from far away Kael could clearly hear laughter and conversation coming from inside.
"Oh no, someone’s here." Conna said nervously, "What should we do?"
"Let’s wait and see." Kael said; they took a few more steps forward.
At this time, Fang’s barking came from inside the hut.
The talking stopped, and Hagrid came out.
Then another person came out, he asked suspiciously, "Is there someone here?"
"No, no one." Hagrid looked around and deliberately said loudly, "I think it must be a Kneazle, Fang loves playing with the Kneazles in the Forbidden Forest."
"Kneazle, oh, this place is fascinating, I love the Forbidden Forest." That person gulped down the contents of the cup.
"I have to go, Hagrid, it’s been a pleasure meeting you, see you tomorrow."
"Wait a minute, Rockneil." Hagrid called after him, "I’ll take you to see something good, something you’ve never seen."
"What?"
"You’ll know soon." Hagrid said mysteriously, "But we have to call Ms. Maxime too, I promised her."
The two of them walked towards the Beauxbatons carriage, and on the way, Hagrid kept looking back, seemingly checking for something.
When he felt a pebble hit his arm, he relaxed and sped up to the carriage.
Not far behind them, Kael threw the remaining stones in his hand back to the ground, explaining to Conna, "That person is Professor Rockneil from Beauxbatons, we’ve met him before."
Kael spoke of the time he went to the Romanian Fire Dragon Reserve, Rockneil and Newt were both experts invited by the reserve.
At that time, Kael made a lot of money from those severely damaged Fire Dragon Scales he had.
"Are there other professors from Beauxbatons here?" Conna asked in confusion, "I thought it was just Ms. Maxime."
"He probably just arrived." Kael said, "After all, if he had been here from the start, he would have shown up in the Auditorium, but none of us had seen him before today."
While talking, Ms. Maxime also appeared. Just as Rockneil was about to step forward, Hagrid had already extended a hand to help her down the golden steps.
Then the three bypassed the enclosure where the Abraxans were and entered the Forbidden Forest.
Kael and Conna followed them at a distance not too far nor too close, occasionally able to hear bits of their conversation.
"Hagrid, Rockneil, where are you taking me?"
"I don’t know either, Principal." said Rockneil, "I was just about to go to sleep... really, it’s much colder here compared to Beauxbatons."
"You’d definitely regret it if you went back now." Hagrid said in his hoarse voice, filled with unmistakable excitement, "You’ll like it, worth seeing, trust me, but... remember to keep it a secret, don’t tell anyone, okay? You’re not supposed to know."
"Of course I won’t tell." Ms. Maxime said.
"Exactly."
The three continued walking, after about half an hour later, they had circled far around the Forbidden Forest, looking back neither the hut nor the castle was visible anymore.
Walking for another ten minutes.
"Did you hear anything?"
A few men were yelling in front, Conna tilted her head, trying to hear what they were saying.
Then there was a deafening sharp roar.
The three in front immediately quickened their pace.
Kael and Conna just jogged to follow until they passed through a thicket ahead and stopped.
Before them was an open space, Conna couldn’t help but exclaim.
"Oh my God!"
Luckily, there was shouting everywhere around, and no one noticed the two hiding here.
Conna quickly lowered her voice, whispering, "That’s a Fire Dragon!"
Kael nodded, he had already seen it.
Two fierce-looking adult Fire Dragons were confined in an enclosure made of thick planks, roaring and snorting.
And there weren’t just fire dragons, there were a dozen burly dragon tamers, struggling to pull the chains on the dragons, trying to subdue them.
"Could it be that the first task of the Triwizard Tournament is to deal with these Fire Dragons?" Conna said worriedly.
"Honestly, I’m not sure either." Kael frowned.
Though he had already guessed that Hagrid would bring them to see Fire Dragons, he couldn’t figure out... why there were only two Fire Dragons here.
Yes, there were only two Fire Dragons in front... a Swedish Short-Snout and a Hungarian Horntail, besides that, there wasn’t even an extra dragon egg.
But the Triwizard Tournament has three champions, how are two dragons supposed to be divided?
