Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying-Chapter 594 - 197: Newspaper (2)
In Vid's plan, before the World Cup event, he wanted the fake Peter to expose the fact that Barty Crouch Jr. was still alive, and then the two "people" would be sent away together by Barty Crouch or a Dementor.
In this way, "Peter" would die justifiably, and Barty, a fervent fan of Voldemort, could completely disappear, possibly delaying Voldemort's resurrection by a few years.
Ideally, it could be delayed until Vid graduated from school. This way, his knowledge, magic power, and level of training would reach a high standard, allowing him freedom of movement outside school, greatly enhancing his flexibility and adaptability.
Unfortunately... due to a momentary oversight, it seemed the situation still slid towards the direction of the original world line.
Vid felt annoyed for a moment, made a copy of the newspaper with the Gemino Curse, folded the copied parchment into his pocket, greeted Madam Pince, and turned to leave the library, heading for the Headmaster's Office.
Dumbledore needed to know what he saw in the crystal ball. If he was lucky, Barty Crouch Jr. was still under his father's control, and then he could join Dumbledore to raid the Crouch Family and capture Barty Crouch Jr.
Although that person diligently served as the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor for a year in the original story, who knew what he would do this time? In terms of ability, he was much stronger than other Death Eaters, and in some respects, he posed an even greater threat than Voldemort.
Among the many Death Eaters, there was no second like Barty Crouch Jr., who was courageous, cunning, able to endure and act, and unfailingly loyal.
Most Death Eaters were either going crazy in Azkaban or had evaded punishment with sweet talk, enjoying comfortable lives, and were less eager than ordinary wizards for their "master" to return.
But since he had already seen in the crystal ball the scene of Barty Crouch Jr. holding baby Voldemort, perhaps it was too late to stop it...
Vid's thoughts were so focused that he unintentionally missed the entrance to the Headmaster's Office. It wasn't until he stepped onto the stairs heading towards the Ravenclaw Tower that he realized he had walked past it.
So he turned back, knocked on the stone gargoyle, and said, "Peppermint humbug."
The gargoyle jumped aside, and Vid stepped onto the ascending spiral staircase, reaching the office door after a short while. He knocked on the brass knocker and soon heard Dumbledore's voice: "Come in."
Vid entered the room, where Dumbledore sat by the window reading a letter. Seeing Vid, he smiled: "I was just thinking of you, Vid. Newt has returned, so have Mabel prepare. From next week, we'll try to treat the Obscurus on her."
"Mr. Scamander?" Vid was taken aback, then said excitedly, "He already has a treatment plan?"
"Yes. Although we haven't met during this time, he's been pondering this matter tirelessly!"
Dumbledore pulled a paper from the letter and signaled Vid to take a look.
On the slightly yellowed parchment, Scamander had written in meticulous script the method of treating the Obscurial and the magic to be used, showing he had given the matter a lot of thought.
But at the end, Scamander still cautiously stated that all of this was just his hypothesis, and whether it could proceed smoothly was still uncertain.
"Having a plan is great," Vid said with a relaxed smile. "I have some gold powder from the organization. Even if it fails temporarily, it will slow down the deterioration of Mabel's condition."
"Excellent." Dumbledore smiled, "We must always hold on to hope, believing that there will always be a solution to this issue. By the way, Vid, is there something you came to see me about?"
"I..."
Vid was about to speak but suddenly forgot his purpose for coming. He stammered, and the thought only slowly emerged in his mind.
"Mr. Bode from the Department of Mysteries commissioned me to craft a humanoid poppet. He said it's for some dangerous magical experiments."
Vid said, "I've completed the main structure of the poppet, but I still want to ask your opinion on this."
"Broderick Bode, is it?" Dumbledore laughed, "He's a focused and sincere person, originally from Ravenclaw College, and has no other hobbies besides studying magic. You needn't worry about him doing anything beyond boundaries with the poppet." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Then I'm relieved."
Vid smiled, stood up, and bid farewell to the headmaster. His heart was full of joy at the thought of Mabel soon overcoming the Obscurus, until he absentmindedly dove a hand into his pocket and sensed something was off.
Vid retrieved the newspaper, saw the pale face of Barty Crouch Jr. on it, and helplessly patted his forehead.
—Does this guy come with some "-10 Presence" buff? Why do I always forget to mention it?
Vid, although he joked in his mind, didn't really think so. He just felt that Scamander's matter had diverted his attention, making him suddenly forget his purpose.
For example, sometimes, when he was too focused on studying magic, he would forget whether he had eaten; or when in the middle of writing a paper, a sudden alchemical idea would pop into his head, causing him to forget the paper and turn to alchemy.
Holding the newspaper, Vid once again headed towards the Headmaster's Office.
"Peppermint humbug!"
The stone gargoyle lazily jumped aside, and Vid stepped onto the stairs.
Dumbledore looked a bit surprised at Vid's return and asked, "Is there anything else, Vid?"
"Um, I forgot to mention earlier..."
Vid's gaze swept over the photos of the past headmasters of Hogwarts on the wall and asked with some apprehension, "Mr. Nicolas Flamel invited me to visit his manor in July, but I don't know the exact address and time... Should I send him another letter to inquire?"
"Nicolas's address is a secret known to very few in the world, so he surely won't forget that himself."
Dumbledore reassured him, "You don't need to worry. Flamel will arrange everything. You might receive his letter in a couple of days."
Vid was actually aware of this, but hearing Dumbledore say it still gave him a great sense of relief.
Then, realizing he had troubled the headmaster with such a minor matter, he felt somewhat embarrassed and hurriedly took his leave.
The spiral staircase led Vid down. He watched the main door close again, stared at it pensively for a while, and then patted the stone gargoyle's head.
"Compared to stone lions, gargoyles are really much uglier..."
Vid muttered, the parchment in his hands making a crisp sound.
He instinctively thought it was his homework and, without much thought, stuffed it back into his pocket, returning to the Ravenclaw Common Room.
There were few people in the common room since the term exams had finally ended and tomorrow's visit to Hogsmeade awaited. After several nights of cramming, students couldn't help but return early to their dormitories to rest. Only a slender figure remained curled up on the sofa reading.
"Luna?" Seeing her, Vid, concerned, approached and asked, "Why haven't you gone back to the dorm to rest?"
Could it be that this unsociable girl was being bullied by her roommates again?
Luna removed her oddly shaped glasses and said, "The dormitory is full of wrackspurts, making it impossible for me to read. Moreover, it's easier to discover night shadow elves when it's quiet at night."
"...What elves?" Vid instinctively asked.
"Night shadow elves," Luna seriously repeated, "They enjoy dancing under the oak at night and sometimes even fly into people's dreams."
"Oh... I see." Vid slowly realized that this was another magical creature that only Luna believed existed.
He was about to say goodnight and then head to bed himself when the girl remarked, "You know your newspaper is about to fall out of your pocket, right?"
"Newspaper?"
Vid was startled, then slowly pulled out the newspaper and, upon seeing the person in the image, showed an expression as if he had seen a ghost.
