Nicklaus did as she instructed. His eyes widened and the most hopeful smile spread across his lips. He felt blessed.

Nicklaus swallowed, "How did you know?"

Arissa’s face reddened, "I just knew. The symptoms were there and also, I missed my period for the past three weeks," she explained.

Nicklaus scoffed happily. He knelt to her stomach level and stared at her belly as if staring at the child. "This means I would become a father?" his chest heaved up and down and he placed his whole concentration on her stomach.

Arissa nodded, "You will,"

Nicklaus’s eyes pooled up, "I’m going to become a father," he repeated and the tears rolled off his eyes.

He stood straight and said, "I don’t know how to thank you enough for this," he hugged her and buried his face into her shoulder.

Arissa’s heart trembled when she saw him cry and before she would react to his tears, he pulled her into a hug.

"Nick," she called him when she found her voice, "You don’t have to cry, it would make me feel bad. I’m the one who should be saying thank you to you," she let go of the hug and pat his back repeatedly, "You should have given up on me a long time ago but you didn’t and I’m...
