Chapter 73: First trap

On the way home Gina didn’t smile at all, her meeting with Alexandre and his mother after years of not seeing each other was really painful. Mrs Victoria Jenkins had changed a lot, unlike the Mrs Victoria Gina had remembered five years ago. What people say is true, money can change anyone.

While trying to neutralize her heart that was hurt by Alexandre’s mother’s words, Gina’s cell phone suddenly vibrated, a message entered her cellphone. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Marco," Gina muttered under her breath when she saw the text message Marco had just sent her.

Drrtt

Gina immediately pressed the green button on her cell phone when Marco’s name reappeared because he was calling her.

"Hello..."

"Where are you?"

Gina smiled. "On the way home, why?"

"Don’t go home yet." Marco’s voice was harsh and cold on the other end of the line.

"Why?"

"Your step sister brought her friends home, they’re partying in the courtyard right now," Marco replied flatly with warning.

"A party? How could that be possible? Did Grandpa allow that?" Gina asked again, slightly doubting Marco’s words.

Marco was silent for a long time before he finally said everything in detail, it turned out that the party that Diego and his friends had had the approval of Yohanes Sanders. The old man allowed his grandson to get drunk with his friends in the yard, it seemed that Yohanes Sanders was in a very good mood at the moment.

"You heard me, didn’t you?" Marco’s voice rose an octave again as he finished his explanation.

"But where do I want to go? I’m almost there too, Marc..hello, Marco...hei...ish that sucks, just turning off the phone at will. You’re annoying!!" Gina grumbled annoyed when Marco ended the conversation unilaterally.

The taxi driver, who had been a loyal listener, smiled, he was amused to hear Gina and Marco’s conversation.

As Gina had said earlier to Marco, the taxi that took her finally arrived at the gate of the Sanders house, after making Gina’s payment she rushed out of the taxi. She was very tired and wanted to straighten her spine in bed.

But just as she got out of the taxi suddenly a rough grip landed on her arm.

"Marco...is sick!!"

Marco who had stuck his hand into Gina’s arm ignored the girl’s words, he just added to the pressure on his hand as Gina’s body pulled towards him.

"What the hell?!"

"Shh, don’t be fussy!!"

Gina looked at Marco’s face which was already very close to hers, Gina was sure that if she hadn’t held her body with her palms before, Gina might have kissed Marco because of Marco’s earlier pull.

"Are you crazy, Marco?!" Gina rebuked loudly, she was already emotional at this point.

"Your crazy family!"

"What? What do you mean?"

Marco glared at Gina. "I’ll explain later, come with me," Marco answered coldly as he pulled Gina towards another direction away from the gate which was the only access to enter the house.

Gina, who was actually very upset, couldn’t help but surrender when Marco asked her to stay away from her family’s house, they continued walking towards the side of the towering gate. Gina finally realized that her family’s house was very spacious, because by now she was tired of walking.

"Marco, I’m tired," Gina said loudly, this time she raised her voice on purpose so Marco could hear that she was really really tired.

Whether it was because of Gina’s scream or not, Marco suddenly stopped his steps and Gina, who didn’t expect Marco to stop suddenly, finally hit the man’s back quite hard. Surprisingly it wasn’t Marco who was in pain, but Gina, who was now pioneering, holding her forehead.

"Stupid."

Gina glared. "What? Am I stupid? You are stupid, and so are your ancestors. You just talk nonsense!!"

Once again, if it wasn’t Gina who was talking like that at this time, Marco would probably be furious. But since it was Gina who issued the swear words, Marco didn’t show the slightest bit of anger. The man actually smiled at this time, what the hell?.

"When you find out that I’m saving your life, you will praise me to the sky, Gina," Marco said slowly, starting to speak.

"Saving? Who is being saved? Me? Why should I be saved? You’re not hallucinating, are you?"

Marco massaged his forehead which suddenly hurt, the girl in front of him right now was really very difficult to talk to unlike other girls he had known before. Not wanting to waste time Marco then pulled Gina to a car parked near them, a confused Gina again asked Marco some questions regarding the ownership of the car they were currently in.

Gina had just stopped talking when Marco handed her some food that was taken from the back seat.

"Don’t ask again who owns this food," Marco said coldly warningly.

"You’re too confident!" Gina said curtly as she opened the hotdog wrapping paper, which was still warm.

The next second Gina was enjoying her favorite hotdog. From the level of doneness of the meat, the abundance of sauce and mayonnaise, Gina really enjoyed the food.

"Right now your whole family is on their way to one of your family’s hotels on the outskirts of Barcelona, not to mention your dear grandmother and father, they went there about 2 hours ago in two cars leaving Diego with his fiancé at home. After your family left, Diego’s friends started arriving and now they’re having a party in your backyard," Marco said quietly, explaining what was going on at Sanders’ house.

Gina, who was previously enjoying her hotdog voraciously, immediately stopped chewing when she heard Marco’s words.

"At first I thought you were going with them, but the moment I called you and you said you were on your way home I’m sure you don’t know anything about your family going to the hotel," Marco added back.

Gina’s hands immediately clenched on her thighs, anger, disappointment and sadness became one at this time after knowing everyone left without telling her. Including her grandmother, who has always seemed to love her the most, Gina’s trust in Barbara Sanders immediately vanished at this time.

Gina slowly turned her head the other way, trying to hide her tears so that Marco wouldn’t see. The only person who was kind to her in the house seemed to be Marco.

"I’m tired and sleepy right now," Gina said softly as she leaned back in her chair.

"You want to sleep?"

"Five minutes, may I?" Gina asked Marco back.

"Sure, go to sleep. I’ll eat my hotdog then," Marco answered flatly.

Gina’s lips curved into a smile when she heard Marco’s words, slowly but surely both of Gina’s eyes finally closed. Actually Gina is not really physically tired, Gina just wants to calm down, restrain the emotions and annoyance that is bubbling up inside her right now.

Unbeknownst to Gina, Marco had been staring at her without blinking, the man kept quiet trying to pay attention to Gina in detail. Marco deliberately didn’t tell Gina everything because he didn’t want to make Gina even more sad, moments before Yohanes Sanders and his family actually left Julian and Barbara had asked Vanessa to ask Gina to come home so they could come with them to the hotel. But Vanessa didn’t really do what her husband and mother-in-law ordered, she even turned off her cellphone on purpose. The woman really showed her true nature and Marco even overheard all the conversations Vanessa and her son Diego had.

The brain behind Diego’s current party is Vanessa, who proposed the party to Diego. It seemed that the woman had bad intentions towards Gina by letting her stay at home with Diego’s delinquent friends who were drunk while the whole family was on vacation. That’s why Marco deliberately waited for Gina at the gate, trying to prevent Gina from entering the house.

"I know you’re not sleeping," Marco said softly with a smile.

Gina took a deep breath. "How do you know?"

Marco smiled mischievously. "Of course I know, I’m not a child, Gina. After all, your eyes have been moving ever since, tell me. Are you upset that your family didn’t go away, huh?"

Without opening her eyes Gina smiled. "I’m not a child who will sulk when not asked to go, Marco."

"If you’re not upset about that then what’s bothering you?"

Gina shook her head. "Nothing, I was just thinking how funny this world is."

"Funny?"

"Yes."

Marco furrowed his brows. "What is so funny?"

Gina, who really wanted to keep everything to herself finally decided to talk to Marco, she slowly opened her eyes and sat up straight, staring at the high wall in front of the car.

"I thought that after my mother died I could live a normal and fine life like children out there who had lost their parents, but what I thought was not that simple. My mother’s death actually made me have new problems that are much more serious. more complicated than I imagined, living with people who don’t want me to exist, people who consider me a parasite are not easy, Marco," Gina said quietly.

"If you’re not comfortable why don’t you just move? You have a job, don’t you?"

Gina smiled. "If it could be that easy then I’ll do it."

"Come on Gina, you’re not a child. You have power over yourself, you can decide for yourself what’s best for you including if you want to decide to move."

Gina’s smile grew wider at Marco’s words. "I already made a promise to my father, Marco. When he was sick I promised to stay with him when he woke up and well this is how it turned out."

"Just because of a promise?" Marco’s brow furrowed as he spoke.

"Yes, my mother always taught me to keep the promise that had been said and at that time I had promised my mother to follow her teachings."

"Tsk, what kind of stupid deal is that."

Gina didn’t respond to Marco’s words, she knew Marco would react like that.

"My mother was a wonderful woman, Marco. She made me this way, because to be honest if I hadn’t remembered my promise to her I might have left the Sanders house especially since I found out Diego had bad intentions for me."

Marco immediately turned to Gina quickly. "What bad intentions? Did you know that Diego had plans like this before?"

"No, I don’t know."

"Then how do you know if Marco has bad intentions for you?" Marco asked curiously.

Gina took a deep breath. "Only someone with bad intentions would sneak into a girl’s room with a bandage covering her eyes."

"What the hell, what do you mean, Gina?!"
