Chapter 335: Gina’s new life

"Are you ok, Gina?"

Gina, who had just wiped her nose with a tissue, nodded slowly at Lauren’s question, one of her best friends at college for the past few years.

"Before this you were fine," Lauren said again feeling concerned for Gina who looked very uncomfortable because she kept sneezing. "Looks like we have to find a pharmacy or clinic first before going to campus."

Gina shook her head. "I’m fine, Lauren. Let’s go straight to campus."

"Ish, you always underestimate something," said Lauren, annoyed.

Gina chuckled amused at Lauren’s words, although Lauren continued to nag but Gina knew that her best friend was not angry. After fifteen minutes of hearing Lauren’s chatter, Gina finally could breathe a little easier when she arrived at the campus, where she had studied for the past four years.

"Time flies so fast, doesn’t it."

Gina smiled at what Lauren said who had just joined her. "Yeah, I feel like just yesterday I came to this campus as a new student and today I came to this campus to say goodbye to my friends."

"The real world we’ll be in soon after, Gina. Do you remember what Professor Landon said when we took his course?"

"Of course I remember, Professor Landon was one of my favorite professors," Gina answered honestly.

Lauren’s lips twitched at Gina’s words, for a smart student like Gina all professors are her favorite professors. Because the campus was getting busier, Lauren rushed to invite Gina into the campus to join their friends.

Several other final year students who had graduated yesterday seemed to scream when they saw Gina and Lauren approaching, they seemed happy to welcome the two girls who lived in the same housing complex.

"So how about after this we go to a club? I know a good club that fits our pockets," said Elana excitedly.

"The sun is still high and you’re taking us to the club? Oh come on, Elana." Brobi replied curtly at Elana’s words.

"Why is there something wrong if we go to the club during the day?" asked Elana, confused.

"Of course it’s wrong because Gina definitely won’t be able to get permission." Lauren answered quickly as she wrapped her arm around Gina’s shoulder who was sitting beside her. "Isn’t that right, Gina?"

Gina smiled. "Sorry, my uncle is a little bit conservative about that kind of stuff."

"Oh come on, this is not the royal era anymore, Gina. You’re also an adult, how long are you going to keep being an obedient girl like this?"

"Until my sister is no longer friends with you," replied a young man from behind Gina curtly.

Lauren, who already memorized Pedro’s voice, immediately chuckled. "Well, your bodyguard has arrived, apparently Gina."

Gina smiled and didn’t respond to Lauren’s words, she just got up from her chair and approached Pedro who was standing in front of her with her favorite basketball.

"Are you done with practice?" Gina asked Pedro gently.

"Not yet, it’s just getting started."

"If it hasn’t started then why did you come here?" Gina asked, confused.

Pedro tilted his head, looking at Gina’s friends who were sitting in the chair directly in front of him with disapproval. "Making sure you’re okay."

"Pedro..."

"Yo Pedro, your sister is not a fifteen year old girl that you have to take care of all the time. Your sister has graduated from college and will soon leave this campus, you can’t keep her from playing with us," shouted a blonde haired boy. who was sitting beside Elana cut off Gina’s words.

"You..."

Pedro’s words stopped when he saw Gina’s eyes were wide, signaling Pedro not to look for trouble.

"Sis..."

"I’m fine, Pedro. Don’t worry," Gina said quietly, trying to reassure Pedro, who looked annoyed at the words of Brandon, Elana’s lover who had previously provoked Pedro.

"You remember Mommy and Daddy’s messages, right?" asked Pedro in a low, half-whispered voice.

"Of course remember sweet boy."

"Then..."

"I can take good care of myself Pedro, don’t worry they won’t do anything wrong. I have Lauren with me." Gina cut Pedro’s words in Spanish that only Pedro could hear.

Pedro pursed his lips, trying to digest what Gina had just said. After thinking for a while Pedro finally decided to leave Gina and rejoin his friends on the basketball court.

"Jesus, how can you put up with such a possessive little brother, Gina?" asked the red-haired girl named Beatrix.

"Yes, your brother is too possessive," added another girl who was near Beatrix, commenting on Pedro’s attitude.

Gina smiled. "He’s just carrying out the orders my uncle gave him."

"Oh come on, it’s already 2021, Gina. How long do you want to be an obedient girl who always follows your uncle’s words? You will lose your youth if you continue like this, Gina," Elana quipped.

"Don’t get too involved in other people’s family matters, Elana. We’re just outsiders and you have no right to comment on the way Uncle Patrick takes care of his family," Lauren said curtly, she felt annoyed at Elana who had gone too far.

Feeling that the situation was not conducive, Gina finally chose to ask Lauren to go away from the place where Elana and her gang members gathered.

"You’re too kind, Gina. Why are you silent when they talk like that? You should fight back, it’s good for them to comment on other people’s ways of life. His life is just perfect," said Lauren curtly when she stopped beside the vending machine with Gina. . "Now I know the reason why your siblings have been so protective of you."

"Not too good, I’m just too lazy to serve them," said Gina quietly as she put some coins into the vending machine.

"Akh you, it’s a waste of my talking to you. You’re too kind."

Gina chuckled. "Don’t keep getting angry, you’ll get old quickly. Do you want cola or juice?"

"Cola please," Lauren answered quickly.

Gina smiled, she then pressed the button to select the cola Lauren wanted. As soon as there was quite a commotion at the bottom, Lauren lowered her body and reached for the two cans of cola that Gina had chosen.

"Thank you," Gina said softly, accepting the can of cola Lauren held out.

Lauren smiled. "Actually I envy you, Gina."

Gina who had been drinking her cola almost choked when she heard Lauren’s words, luckily Gina was able to quickly control herself. "Envy? Why?"

"Envy because you have a perfect family, your uncles and aunts love you very much. Likewise with your two younger cousins, I who live with my biological parents don’t get as much love as you. And honestly sometimes I want to be in your position ," replied Lauren hoarsely, growing up in a military family made Lauren lack affection.

"What is visible to the eye is not necessarily beautiful if lived, Lauren. Likewise with life, what seems easy for others to do is not necessarily easy for us to go through."

Lauren blinked. "What are you talking about? I don’t understand?"

Gina giggled. "Yeah, let’s not talk about it anymore, I’m too lazy to talk about it."

"No, I don’t want to. Quickly explain what you meant earlier?" forced Lauren.

"I’m hungry, I’ll explain after eating," Gina answered slowly as she walked past Lauren to the cafeteria.

"Gina, you’re really annoying. It’s smartest if you make people curious!!" Lauren screamed in annoyance as she stomped her feet on the floor before finally following Gina who had walked quite a distance from her.

Gina pursed her lips at the memory of Lauren’s words, her chest tightening suddenly when Lauren said that she was envious of the life she was living right now.

"If I had to choose, I just want to be free like you, Lauren."
