His soul-Chapter 286: Sandra’s grave
For almost five minutes Gina covered her mouth with her hands when she saw her mother’s tidied up grave, the cross-shaped tombstone engraved with Sandra Garcia’s name was painted like new. Several stalks of roses have also been neatly arranged near the tombstone.
"Why are you just standing, come here," Massimo said quietly as he held out his hand for Gina to come closer.
With teary eyes, Gina took Massimo’s hand and approached her mother’s tombstone, without speaking Massimo gave Gina a bouquet of roses. As soon as she touched the bouquet of flowers Massimo had given her, Gina slowly knelt down and sat on the grass right beside the cross-shaped gravestone with her head bowed. Not wanting to disturb Gina, Massimo took Martin away from the tomb. Massimo wanted to give Gina some privacy.
As if knowing Massimo was slowly moving away, Gina lifted her face that was already wet with tears to look at her mother’s tombstone which looked like new, the engraving of her name was also given a gold layer which made the tombstone look very good.
"How are you, Mom, it’s been almost two years since you’ve been gone. You must have been very happy at your new home, right? Sob..."
"I’ve met father and all members of the Sanders family, including father’s new wife chosen by grandfather. Ironic. Everything is going very fast and so many events have happened, from the one that made me smile to the one that brought tears to my eyes. I don’t need to tell you how grandpa and grandma behaved, I’m sure by now you’ve met them up there."
Gina stopped her speech, her chest felt very tight at this moment. Gina wanted to spill all her heart right now, but because there was Massimo not far from her Gina held back. After taking a deep breath Gina then continued her words again, for almost thirty minutes of talking Gina didn’t even mention Massimo’s name. Gina still can’t accept Massimo’s presence in her life, even though Massimo has done a lot for her.
"I’m sorry that I couldn’t fulfill the message that you said before, I’m sorry mom, I can’t take good care of herself," Gina said softly, barely audible ending her conversation because she heard the sound of Massimo and Martin’s footsteps approaching.
As soon as Gina stopped talking, Massimo’s hand rested on her shoulder. "It’s ok, your mother has calmed down now. So don’t cry anymore."
"I know," Gina answered hoarsely. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Massimo smiled. "Let’s get up, the sky is getting dark. Looks like it’s going to rain soon."
"But it’s summer, how come..."
"Still, I don’t want us to get wet. Let’s get up," said Massimo again asking Gina to get up.
It was with a heavy heart that Gina obeyed Massimo’s orders, which Massimo said was true. The clouds were very dark and it was certain that it was going to rain soon. As soon as Gina stood up, Massimo placed the bouquet of roses that had been in his hand for a long time next to the bouquet of flowers previously placed by Gina.
Massimo was silent for a while staring at his mother-in-law’s tombstone, in his heart Massimo greeted Sandra politely and introduced himself as Gina’s husband. Massimo even apologized to Sandra for some of the harsh things he had done to Gina, including the selfishness that forced Gina to accept it that night where Massimo finally realized that Gina was still pure, Massimo apologized many times in his heart. His selfishness is still high by not wanting to let others hear him apologize, in Massimo del Cano’s motto there is no apology. But this time the exception. Even though he only spoke from his heart, Massimo sincerely apologized to his mother-in-law.
"Sir, it’s starting to rain," Martin said quietly, breaking Massimo’s heart and bringing the man back into reality.
"Eh?"
"It’s starting to rain, sir." Martin repeated his words politely for fear of offending Massimo.
Massimo reflexively raised his hands in the air, trying to catch the drops of water from the sky. His smile immediately widened as he managed to feel a drop of water land on his large palm.
"You’re right, the water has started to fall. Let’s go back to the hotel," said Massimo quietly as he took Gina’s hand to lead her back to the hotel.
But the unexpected thing happened, Gina rebuffed Massimo’s hand roughly. Refused to go back.
"Gina!" Massimo warned.
"I still want to be here," Gina answered softly, barely audible, from her still hoarse voice it was clear that Gina had not stopped crying.
Massimo shook his head. "No, you have to come with me back to the hotel."
"I-I still miss my mother, Massimo."
"We can come again tomorrow if you still miss it, but for now we have to go back to the hotel," said Massimo quietly as he wrapped his arms around Gina’s waist possessively.
Gina, who didn’t want to go back, couldn’t even go against Massimo’s orders. Gina resignedly followed Massimo’s footsteps leaving her mother’s tomb, which at this time looked the most beautiful of all. As soon as Martin got into the car it started raining heavily, luckily all the other bodyguards also got into the car on time so none of them got wet.
From inside the car, Gina could still see her mother’s tombstone which was starting to get wet with rainwater, the flowers they brought had also fallen on the ground. Gina’s hands that touched the glass were pulled down by Massimo who then hugged her tightly.
"Tomorrow we can come again, don’t be like this," said Massimo gently tightening his arms on Gina as the car started to leave the graveyard area towards the highway.
"I still miss my mother, Massimo."
"I know, that’s why we’ll come again tomorrow. We’ll bring some more beautiful flowers for your mother, shall we." Like he was seducing a small child Massimo spoke very softly to Gina trying to calm her down, in fact Massimo had expected something like this to happen. That’s why he wanted to come to the grave on their last day in London. But because so many things happened, Massimo ended up speeding up their schedule of visiting the tomb.
Gina’s tears fell again when she heard Massimo’s words, eighteen months ago when her mother died, Gina came home alone, dirty with dirt. But now things are different, Gina is in a warm, comfortable luxury car in the arms of a powerful man who rules her life.
The rain continued to accompany Massimo and Gina’s journey back to the hotel, for almost an hour of the journey there was no sound in the car because Gina was asleep. Massimo had even given up his thighs to be a pillow for Gina, during Gina’s sleep several times Massimo kissed his little girl’s hand lovingly. One thing Massimo never did when Gina was awake.
"Whatever Gina, you can ask anything from me except to wipe your tears like this," Massimo said in his heart as he wiped the tears from Gina’s eyes that had fallen again in the corners of her eyes.
Massimo didn’t realize that he was the only reason Gina had been crying a lot lately.
