The grayish-white spinal gray matter, nerve bundles of varying thickness extending from it, red blood vessels, and a tumor marked in green were all tightly entangled.

This tangled mass of gray matter, nerve bundles, blood vessels, and tumor was held fast in the center by two thoracic vertebrae simulated with a transparent, glass-like substance.

This three-dimensional model slowly rotated right before Yan Feifan's eyes.

He was searching for the optimal path of insertion...

RING RING...

The sudden ring of the alarm clock made the three-dimensional model vanish in an instant, like a popping soap bubble.

Yan Feifan turned to look at the digital clock on his nightstand. It was already seven in the morning.

Today was Sunday, which was supposed to be his day off.

But now he had another mentor and two major, time-sensitive surgeries, so there would be no days off for the foreseeable future.

Yan Feifan silenced the alarm, left his bedroom, and after a quick wash, went to the kitchen to start making breakfast...

At five past eight, Yan Feifan had just finished making breakfast.

That pair of lazybones, Yan Ziruo and Tian Yu, showed up in the dining room right on cue.

Seeing them both bleary-eyed and yawning nonstop, Yan Feifan asked with a curious look, "Didn't you two go to bed pretty early last night?"

"Not that early. We played online with Yanyan for a bit..."

Tian Yu noticed Yan Feifan's expression darken and quickly explained, "Mr. Yan, we only played for a little while and went to bed at ten-thirty. It was mainly because Ruoruo is a restless sleeper, so I didn't sleep that well."

After a mouthful of porridge, Yan Ziruo shot Tian Yu a sideways glance and hmphed, "Listen to you, as if you're such a peaceful sleeper yourself!"

"Then you two should sleep separately. It's not like we're short on rooms."

Yan Feifan offered his suggestion, then asked, "Sis, next Thursday is the May Day holiday. Have you made any plans?"

Yan Ziruo sighed, sounding a bit dejected. "Don't even ask. My friends are all coupled up, and I don't want to tag along and be a third wheel."

"For the May Day holiday, I'll just stay in Binhai. I won't go anywhere. I'll just sleep, go shopping, watch movies, and eat delicious food. The three days will fly by."

Yan Feifan grimaced to himself. 'If she stays in Binhai,' he thought, 'my spendthrift sister will probably spend even more money.'

Just as he was about to try and persuade her, Tian Yu quietly reminded, "Ruoruo, didn't Yanyan say Mr. Wang could rent a yacht for us? We could cruise down the Yangtze River and out into the East Sea."

Yan Ziruo shook her head. "Renting a yacht is really expensive. We can't keep taking advantage of their generosity."

Tian Yu let out a small, disappointed "oh."

Yan Feifan quickly chimed in, "Sis, it's not taking advantage of them. The Director would surely be delighted that Yanyan is getting out and having fun instead of being stuck at home."

"If you guys don't go with her, Yanyan won't go out by herself."

Yan Ziruo hesitated for a moment, her voice tinged with conflict. "Feifan, you do have a point."

"But still... aren't we taking advantage of them in the end?"

Yan Feifan continued to press, "Sis, I'll just work extra hard to restore Yanyan's appearance sooner. That'll be more than enough to repay the favor."

Yan Ziruo nodded, a smile lighting up her face. "Feifan, you're right. In that case, I'll confirm with Yanyan. For the May Day holiday, we're going on a yacht cruise down the Yangtze River and out to sea to watch the sunrise."

Tian Yu cheered excitedly, "Cruise the Yangtze and see a sunrise at sea! I've never been on a yacht before! I'm so excited, hehe..."

"Mr. Yan..."

Tian Yu suggested with an excited expression, "Let's go to Binhai Park today! I've seen videos and photos—all the flowers and trees in Binhai Park are in bloom this time of year."

"It's the absolute best time to visit Binhai Park."

Yan Feifan refused flatly. "I don't have time. I have to go to the hospital this morning to examine a patient, and I have a minor surgery in the afternoon."

He then admonished, "Xiaoyu, you can't just think about having fun all the time. The high school entrance exams are in two months."

"This is a big deal that could affect the rest of your life."

Tian Yu pouted. "Mr. Yan, I might seem relaxed here, but I actually work very, very hard at school and at home."

"My homeroom teacher even complimented me on my progress!"

Yan Feifan hmphed softly. "Just don't fool yourself. This is your own future and your own life we're talking about..."

At nine in the morning, Yan Feifan was in the hospital's oral surgery department, where he met the young patient Ge Xianghui had selected, along with the patient's parents.

After giving the young patient a thorough examination, Yan Feifan learned that they were from out of town and staying in a hotel near the hospital, so he scheduled the surgery for Tuesday evening.

Afterward, Yan Feifan and Ge Xianghui discussed the surgical plan together.

When lunchtime arrived, he once again declined Ge Xianghui's invitation to eat out, opting for a simple lunch in the cafeteria instead.

After lunch, Yan Feifan went to the plastic surgery center, headed straight for the computer technology room, and got to work.

As one of the top plastic surgery centers in the country, it possessed a highly advanced facial simulation and analysis software.

By inputting a person's photos, videos, and other visual data, the software could automatically extract their facial features to create an analytical model.

The software could also generate a proposed surgical plan based on given requirements.

Of course, this surgical plan was only a reference. The lead surgeon still had to make further revisions based on the patient's requests and their own technical expertise.

Although the software was advertised as being foolproof, it still took Yan Feifan, a first-time user, over two hours to create the simulation video for Chen Lingxin.

And all Yan Feifan had done was add a pair of pear-shaped dimples to Chen Lingxin's cheeks.

"Pear-shaped dimples" and the "standard dimples" we're more familiar with have different names, but they're the same in nature—both are caused by a facial muscle defect.

They are the small hollows that form when facial muscles pull on one another as a person makes an expression.

This small indentation can be seen as a defect, but it is also a classic expression of beauty!

The two are called different things simply because they differ in location, size, and depth.

Standard dimples are typically located diagonally above and to the side of the corners of the mouth, about three centimeters away.

They generally come in three shapes—round, oval, and linear—and vary in size and depth.

Pear-shaped dimples, on the other hand, are mostly found diagonally below and to the side of the corners of the mouth, about one centimeter away. They are smaller and less pronounced than standard dimples.

After repeated comparisons, Yan Feifan decided that pear-shaped dimples were the better choice for Chen Lingxin.

They would become a focal point for an admirer's gaze, yet remain subtle and understated, inspiring a desire to look closer.

Yan Feifan was meticulous about precisely positioning the pear-shaped dimples on Chen Lingxin's cheeks and confirming their shape, revising his work again and again in his pursuit of perfection.

This was one of the main reasons he had spent so much time in the computer lab.

When Yan Feifan arrived at the director's office, which also served as his temporary office, he found Chen Lingxin and Zhao Xiaoting already waiting outside.

"Mr. Yan, didn't we agree on Monday? Why the sudden change?" Zhao Xiaoting asked, a hint of complaint in her voice.

"I'm going to be very busy next week. I won't have time."

Yan Feifan explained briefly, handing over his tablet. "This is the computer-generated simulation. Take a look..."

Chen Lingxin took the tablet, and Zhao Xiaoting leaned in close. With their heads together, they tapped on a video file on the screen.

A video montage of Chen Lingxin herself appeared on the screen. In the footage, she was crying one moment and laughing the next, making all sorts of expressions.

Gradually, Chen Lingxin noticed the difference between the person in the video and herself. Her eyes grew wider and shone brighter...

"Oh! Oh! Pear-shaped dimples! They're pear-shaped dimples..."

As if she had discovered a new continent, Zhao Xiaoting belatedly grabbed Chen Lingxin's arm, jumping and shouting.

"Ah! Ah! I kept feeling like your expressions were so much more vibrant, and now I see it's because you have pear-shaped dimples!"

"And these pear-shaped dimples look so natural..."

Zhao Xiaoting took a step back, looked at the looping video, then turned to look at Chen Lingxin beside her.

"It's amazing. All he did was add a pair of pear-shaped dimples to your face, but it gives a completely different impression."

"It's the perfect finishing touch! No exaggeration!"

Zhao Xiaoting then looked at Yan Feifan, her eyes shining with admiration. "Mr. Yan," she sighed, "you really have the Midas touch."

Then she asked, "Oh, Mr. Yan, can the actual results look as good as they do in the video?"

Seeing Chen Lingxin also looking over with concern and nervousness, Yan Feifan nodded. "The results will be very close."

He handed over a few documents. "If you agree, sign these, and we'll proceed with the surgery."

"Don't worry about the procedure itself. It will only take about half an hour."

Zhao Xiaoting was the first to take the documents and began to flip through them.

"What? Fifty-eight thousand? I know for a fact that other people only pay a few thousand for dimple surgery."

"Mr. Yan, isn't that a bit of a rip-off?"

Before Yan Feifan could even explain, Chen Lingxin spoke up. "It's not a rip-off. Not at all."

"Tingting, haven't you heard that story?"

"An expert was called in to diagnose a problem with a valuable piece of equipment. In the end, he just drew a single line on one spot on the exterior and charged fifty thousand."

"The expert explained, 'Drawing the line costs one dollar. Knowing where to draw it costs forty-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine.'"

"Mr. Yan's fee is based on the same principle. In this day and age, expertise doesn't come cheap..."

Seeing how reasonable she was, Yan Feifan saved his breath and simply prompted, "If there are no other questions, please sign..."
