His Obsession Began After Losing Her-Chapter 51: Not Letting You Go
Chapter 51 - Not Letting You Go
Shuri couldn't keep her eyes off Noran.
It was her first time in this life seeing a clear view of his face up close.
Internally, she scolded herself, "Snap out of it, Shuri! Why are you still such a sucker for his face?"
In both their past life and this one, she couldn't resist his physical charm. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
She continued to mentally chide herself, "Now is not the time to be mesmerized! I have to do something about the situation before..."
She turned to Jin and the security guards, realizing they were just as stunned by Noran's appearance as she was.
They no longer looked suspicious of him; instead, they appeared awed by his presence.
Shuri could understand their reaction because beauty outside of human comprehension demanded respect.
Noran didn't seem bothered by their stares.
He simply took out his ID and handed it to one of the security guards, who anxiously received it.
The guard looked at the ID and exclaimed in surprise, "Ra-Ran Lee?!"
Wasn't he Noran Kingston? Did they mistake his identity? But no one would mistake such an unforgettable face for someone else, right?
He had to be Noran Kingston.
Before they could question him, Noran said, "I'm not a visitor. I'm a resident of this unit."
"Resident?" Shuri couldn't believe her ears. Since when did Noran become her neighbor?
"I just moved in today. I hope you'll welcome me, Rin." Noran smiled directly at Shuri, ignoring everyone's reaction.
Shuri quickly looked away, feeling her cheeks flush. She didn't know if she could handle looking at his handsome face up close without turning red.
She felt it was so unfair how he could still make her heart race so effortlessly even in this life.
Jin furrowed his brows. He didn't care whether the man before him was Noran Kingston or not; he was unhappy that Noran was constantly trying to get close to Shuri.
He turned to the security guards and asked, "Is it true he's a resident here?"
One of the guards nodded. "Yes, Mr. Park. We received notice that someone named Ran Lee is moving in today."
Feeling displeased with the answer, Jin turned to Shuri. "Shuri, do you really know him?"
His question finally brought Shuri's attention back to him.
Looking at Jin, she finally regained her composure and she replied, "I know you're looking out for me, Jin. But Mr. Lee really means no harm."
Jin sighed, a mix of frustration and resignation evident on his face. "Alright, if you say so."
Then he turned to the two security guards. "I apologize for the disruption."
The security guards exchanged anxious glances. "No problem at all, Mr. Park. We're glad it's all just a misunderstanding" one of them responded quickly, while the other nodded in agreement.
Jin kept quiet and his gaze flickered back to Noran. He made no move to apologize to him.
Suspicion still clouded his mind.
To Jin, Noran's actions seemed sneaky, and he couldn't shake the feeling that Noran had ulterior motives for being around Shuri. Jin didn't trust him and certainly didn't want Shuri to be near someone he perceived as a potential threat.
Noran met Jin's gaze with calm indifference, not bothered by the lack of apology. Meanwhile, Shuri noticed Jin's suspicions and pondered how she should explain her relationship with Noran to him.
Fortunately, Jin's phone rang, providing a timely distraction. As he picked it up, Shuri saw his expression change.
After ending the call, Jin turned to Shuri and said, "Sorry, something urgent came up at my company. I need to go. Call me if you run into any problems, alright?"
He glanced pointedly at Noran as he mentioned 'problems,' indirectly signifying who he thought the real issue was.
Shuri caught the implication behind Jin's words but decided to let it pass.
Instead, she nodded and said, "Don't worry about it. Go take care of your work."
Jin smiled at Shuri, then glanced at Noran, giving him a silent warning to stay away from Shuri before turning to leave.
Once in his car, he watched as Shuri entered her unit with Happy, noticing Noran following closely behind.
Despite wanting to separate them, he needed to handle a more pressing matter.
He had just received a call informing him that Paragon had turned down their offer for the expansion project.
After hearing that Paragon, one of the top diversified investment conglomerates from the West, would be expanding their business in the East, Park Bank was among the many who approached them for a strategic partnership, aiming to leverage their financial expertise and extensive resources for mutual benefit.
Given Park Bank's prominent status in the banking sector within the Eastern regions, there was no apparent reason for Paragon to turn them down. The lost opportunity for diversification and enhanced risk management weighed heavily on Jin's mind.
Collaborating with Paragon would have allowed them to share financial risks and optimize banking resources in ways their current operations couldn't match.
If Paragon were to choose their competitor, it would give that competitor a significant edge, gaining access to lucrative markets, exclusive financial products, and high-value clients that could have been theirs.
The strategic alliance with Paragon could have opened up new avenues for premium banking services, cross-border transactions, and large-scale investment opportunities, strengthening Park Bank's position as a leader in the industry.
Jin understood that without this partnership, Park Bank would miss out on substantial growth potential and a chance to solidify its influence in the rapidly growing Eastern market.
Jin felt the weight of this setback pressing down on him.
He needed to return to the office to discuss the situation with the board of directors. It was crucial to formulate a new strategy and find a way to approach Paragon again, or risk losing a monumental opportunity.
Meanwhile, Shuri stepped into the elevator with Happy and Noran. She tried to remain as calm as possible, her heart pounding in her chest.
Pressing the button for the 21st floor, she waited for Noran to press his floor, but he didn't.
She glanced at him, puzzled, but chose to keep quiet.
She could feel his eyes on her, a weight that was both familiar and unsettling.
She kept trying to avert his gaze, focusing instead on the marble walls of the elevator and the numbers counting up.
If it wasn't for Happy, who seemed rather captivated by Noran, the tension might have been unbearable. The dog kept nudging Noran's hand, demanding attention and breaking the silence with her happy huffs.
Shuri stole a glance at Noran, watching as he gently patted Happy with a smile. It was clear he wasn't just popular among women but with animals too.
"Well, with a face like that, it's normal, right?" Shuri thought, trying to steady her breathing.
Her gaze lingered on his handsome features, the same ones that had haunted her memories for so long.
As if sensing her stare, Noran looked up and their eyes met.
Shuri quickly looked away, pretending to be interested in the floor numbers.
The elevator continued its ascent, each second stretching longer than the last, amplifying the awkward silence between them.
Finally, the elevator dinged, and they arrived at the 21st floor.
Shuri stepped out with Happy, feeling a rush of relief to be out of the confined space.
But as Noran followed her out, she realized the conversation she had been dreading was inevitable.
"How long are you going to pretend you don't know me, Rin?"
Shuri stopped walking, her back still facing him.
She took a deep breath, trying to steady her racing heart.
Slowly, she turned around to face him, her eyes meeting his with a mixture of determination and sorrow.
"Mr. Lee," she began, her voice barely above a whisper, "we don't know each other in this life."
She emphasized "in this life," her tone firm yet tinged with the sadness of memories they both shared.
Noran's expression flickered with hurt. "Why are you pushing me away, Rin?"
He had been searching for her for more than a decade in both lives, even dying in the process just to see her again.
Now that he had finally found her, she was avoiding him, building a wall between them despite the deep connection they once shared.
Shuri kept quiet, unsure how to explain her fears to him.
She didn't want him to be burdened by her again, like in their first life.
Wasn't it better for them to stay apart?
She had no idea that Noran had been searching for her in both lives.
She simply believed he had suddenly regained his memory and wanted to rekindle their past relationship.
Seeing her silence, Noran's voice wavered, his vulnerability showing. "Am I not good enough? I-Is he better?"
The "he" was clearly referring to Jin.
The fear in Noran's eyes was palpable, and Shuri felt a pang of pain in her heart at the sight of his hurt expression.
As Noran's question hung in the air, he bit his lips anxiously, fearing her response.
Shuri, acting on impulse, reached out and gently touched his lips.
"Don't..." she said softly, her eyes filled with concern.
Noran's eyes widened slightly in surprise, then softened.
He gently grasped her hand, a genuine smile spreading across his lips.
"You still care about me, Rin," he said, his voice brimming with relief and hope.
Shuri was startled by the turn of events.
Noran had a habit of biting his lips when he felt helpless, and she would always stop him from hurting himself.
She had told herself to keep her distance, but it was clear she couldn't because she cared too much about him.
The most unsettling part was how comfortable she felt when he held her hand—the warmth of his touch was something she had deeply missed.
She lowered her gaze, trying to steady her thoughts.
"Please let go," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
Not wanting to make her uncomfortable, Noran gently released her hand but leaned in closer, his voice soft and filled with emotion. "No matter what, I won't let you go, Rin."
