His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 177: Ian, I’m So Cold
As soon as Tina finished speaking, Kate’s voice rang out, "Tina, I’m the one who should apologize. Cough, cough... Also, I have no grudge against Kiana, she wouldn’t harm me, so please... cough, cough... don’t make things difficult for her."
"Sis!"
"Stella, Kiana is Ethan’s wife."
What Kate meant was, even if you don’t consider my feelings, you should at least think about Ethan—don’t put him in a tough spot.
Stella was furious; she really couldn’t understand what her sister was thinking.
Kiana Sutton was clearly her rival in love, so why was her sister still defending her? Wasn’t this the perfect chance to get rid of Kiana?
Why would she still protect Kiana? 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Seeing Kate constantly giving her meaningful looks, Stella understood and sneered lightly, "Fine, Kiana Sutton, my sister is generous and won’t hold this against you, but you’d better apologize to her for what you’ve done!"
Just then, Kate seemed to think of something and curled her lips into a mocking smile, "But you’re a mute, and we don’t understand your sign language. How about this—you write ’sorry’ on a piece of paper and walk once around the lake holding it. We’ll consider it as your apology and forgive you this time."
Tina shot Kiana a cold glance, then looked at Ethan, smiling, "President Sinclair, what do you think?"
Ethan didn’t say anything; he kept staring at Kiana, his face completely expressionless. No one could tell what he was thinking.
Just then, Connor Grant rushed in after receiving a message from Ethan.
"Fifth Master..."
"Take Kiana back!"
"Yes!"
Connor immediately hurried to Kiana’s side, "Young Madam, let’s go."
Stella was upset at that, and Kate’s face was dark too.
"Brother Ethan, after what Kiana Sutton did to my sister, you’re just letting her leave like this—what does that mean?"
"Cough, cough..." Kate coughed at just the right moment, "Stella... stop it."
There’s no way Stella was going to pass up a chance to deal with Kiana. She’d suffered plenty at Kiana’s hands before, and that bitch had stolen all of Miles Goodman’s love. Old and new grudges combined—she hated Kiana so much she wished she could tear her apart.
"Sis, you keep giving in, but what does that get you? Even though our brother is gone, I’ll protect you. If we sisters don’t get an explanation today, I won’t let this go."
Kate glanced secretly at Ethan. Honestly, even after knowing him all these years, she still couldn’t figure Ethan out.
The atmosphere grew more and more tense. Kiana didn’t care about others’ looks and opinions, but even as a mute, she couldn’t just swallow this injustice.
She turned to Ethan and started signing slowly: "Kate fell into the lake herself. I didn’t push her."
No one else could understand the sign language, but Ethan did.
She hoped Ethan would believe her.
She truly wished for it.
But would he believe her?
"Is that so?" Ethan said coolly, giving no opinion either way.
Evan Shepherd didn’t believe Kiana would do such a thing, and immediately told someone to check the security footage.
Soon, someone brought over a tablet, and Evan took it, saying at once, "Since this happened at my and Tina’s wedding, we bear some responsibility too. I’ve got the surveillance right here. Whatever just happened, everyone can see for themselves."
Tina shot Evan a venomous glare, but he pretended not to notice, giving Kiana a reassuring look instead.
Kiana was grateful to Evan. She hadn’t pushed Kate, and once they saw the video, everyone would know she was innocent.
But when she saw the smug smile at the corner of Kate’s mouth in Ethan’s arms, an unease flashed through her heart.
Sure enough, on the footage, Kate was gripping her shoulder, chatting happily with her like nothing was wrong.
But Kiana had angrily knocked Kate’s hand away. The camera angle was tricky, and from above it truly looked like Kiana had pushed Kate into the water.
Stella, after watching the video, got even angrier. "Kiana Sutton, the evidence is right in front of you—what have you got to say for yourself?"
Kiana hurriedly signed, "I only knocked her hand away, I didn’t push her!"
But to everyone else, this explanation just sounded like an excuse, and Ethan’s face looked even worse than before.
"Stubborn to the end, huh? I’d like to see how you explain yourself at the police station!"
Stella whipped out her phone to call the police, but Kate stopped her, "Stella!"
Kate didn’t actually want to blow things up. If Kiana told the cops about what happened years ago, even if they didn’t believe her, they’d still investigate.
For Kate, that wasn’t worth the risk.
She just wanted to drive a wedge between Ethan and Kiana. As long as they distrusted each other, her job was done.
Thinking that, Kate addressed the crowd: "Everyone, thank you for your concern, but I don’t want to press charges. Please, disperse now—and Stella, have Kiana leave!"
Stella didn’t get her shot at revenge and was obviously unwilling.
But seeing Kate’s warning look, she realized she might mess up Kate’s plans if she kept pushing, so she grudgingly nodded.
She glared coldly at Kiana, biting out, "Kiana Sutton, you’re so vile—you’ll definitely get what’s coming to you!"
Connor Grant could think of nothing else and tugged at Kiana, "Young Madam, let’s go quickly."
Kiana kept staring at Ethan, hoping desperately to find a trace of trust in his gaze. But there was nothing.
Kate noticed, and turned to Ethan, looking pitiful, "Ian, I’m so cold..."
Ethan just replied indifferently, didn’t look at Kiana again, and carried Kate away without saying another word.
Kiana watched his cold and distant back, her chest tightening with suffocating pain.
At eleven o’clock that night, Ethan stormed into Kiana’s room, his entire body radiating anger.
Kiana hadn’t gone to sleep. She knew for sure Ethan would come looking for her tonight.
Whether it was to stand up for Kate or to find out what happened that afternoon, he would seek her out—so she just waited.
Kiana looked at Ethan calmly, and signed, "You don’t believe me, do you?"
"The facts are right in front of us—how am I supposed to believe you?"
Of course!
Kiana let out a bitter laugh. After hurting all afternoon, the pain in her chest only grew worse now.
"Kate must have told you everything that happened this afternoon, but I bet she didn’t mention the most important thing."
Ethan said nothing, just stared at her coldly.
"She told me, three years ago, she deliberately framed my dad for kidnapping her. My dad was innocent—the whole thing was her lie."
