His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 162: How Can You Be a Bootlicker Without Being Devoted?
When Ethan Sinclair saw Kiana Sutton make a neck-slitting gesture, he found it quite amusing and started to laugh.
Her threat, in Ethan’s eyes, was like a little kitten that didn’t even have its claws out yet—puffing up and getting angry, but not the least bit threatening.
"Even if I am interested in her, what can you do about it?"
Kiana glared angrily at Ethan, wishing she could smack him with her shoe.
"Heh... You’re much livelier now than you ever are in front of Ethan Sinclair."
Ethan reached out, trying to touch Kiana’s face, but she slapped his hand away—hard.
Just then, Ethan’s phone rang. He checked the caller ID, gave Kiana a small smile, and said, "Kiana Sutton, we’ve got lots of time ahead of us."
Kiana watched Ethan’s departing figure, frowning hard. It was obvious he wouldn’t let this go so easily.
But he didn’t like Amy Manning, and he and Amy had no real beef with each other. So why target Amy?
Was it just to gross her out?
No, she still had to figure out a way to let Amy Manning know that Ethan Sinclair was no good.
Kiana hadn’t gone looking for Amy yet, but Amy came to find her first.
"Kiana, come with me."
Amy dragged Kiana to a corner on the eighteenth floor. Seeing how mysterious Amy looked, Kiana thought something major had happened.
"Amy, what’s wrong?"
"Kiana, I saw everything."
Kiana was confused, gesturing questioningly, "Saw what?"
Amy peeked out, making sure no one was coming, then whispered to Kiana, "I saw you and Manager Sinclair together. He even did a kabedon on you."
Kiana’s expression changed slightly. She honestly hadn’t expected Amy to see that, but hey, here’s her chance to let Amy see the real Ethan Sinclair.
Kiana was about to use her hands to explain, but Amy grabbed them, "No need to explain. I get it. Don’t worry, I’d never be a homewrecker and ruin your marriage."
Kiana: "???"
Wait, weren’t they talking about Ethan Sinclair? How did it suddenly jump to homewreckers and her marriage?
Amy chuckled and gave Kiana a light slap. "Come on, don’t pretend! I already know, you and Manager Sinclair are married."
Kiana was stunned. Where on earth did Amy get the idea she and Ethan Sinclair were married?
"You told me to stay away from Manager Sinclair, said he’s bad news—actually, you’re just jealous because Manager Sinclair is a fan of Kate Lynch."
"And today at lunch, you weren’t talking to Manager Sinclair, but when he was chatting with me, he kept looking at you."
"He purposely asked me all those questions—like if I had a boyfriend—just to rile you up and see your reaction. Sure enough, you got mad, he saw you cared, and then he went to find you in the restroom."
"He must have explained to you that he only admires Kate Lynch, doesn’t really like her, right? Oh man, you two play couples games pretty well!"
The more Kiana listened, the more ridiculous it sounded. She was about to use her hands to explain again when Amy suddenly got an enlightened look: "No wonder, last time I asked you to help me get Kate Lynch’s autograph, you ignored me. It turns out you were jealous of her!"
"And that time your ’descendants bye-bye’ pack dropped out of your bag, President Sinclair obviously helped you out of the awkward situation. Now it makes sense—you’re his sister-in-law, of course he’d help you!"
Kiana: "..."
"Relax, relax. I do think Manager Sinclair is handsome, but friends don’t steal each other’s men. I’d never compete with you for him."
As she spoke, Amy covered her mouth and giggled. "Honestly, Manager Sinclair looks like the bad-boy type on the surface, but I’d bet anything he’s a super devoted guy. So, he must love you a ton—I hope you two are happy forever."
Kiana: "..."
Kiana thought Amy was really something else.
You could say Amy was just spouting nonsense, but sometimes she was actually right.
Like, Kate Lynch was her love rival, and she really didn’t like Kate.
And Ethan Sinclair being devoted—yeah, he was Kate Lynch’s number one simp. If he wasn’t devoted, how could he qualify?
But if you tried to say Amy was right—well, she still managed to be completely off the mark.
Kiana wanted to explain, but suddenly had no idea how to put it.
Thinking it over, her main goal was to keep Ethan Sinclair from messing with Amy Manning. Since Amy wasn’t likely to fall for him anyway, it didn’t matter anymore.
Just then, a WeChat message came from Ethan Sinclair.
"Brew a cup of coffee and bring it in."
Kiana didn’t dare delay. She quickly said goodbye to Amy and headed to the break room.
Meanwhile—
The person who called Ethan Sinclair was Kate Lynch. At first, Ethan didn’t pick up. When he got back to his own office, he called her back.
"Autumn..."
"Why didn’t you pick up earlier?"
"I was having lunch with Kiana Sutton."
"What?" Kate’s voice immediately jumped a few decibels, "Why were you having lunch with Kiana Sutton?"
Before Ethan could answer, Kate huffed angrily, "Ethan Sinclair, don’t tell me you’re like all those other men and got bewitched by Kiana Sutton—are you falling for her?"
Ethan raised his brows, suddenly in a great mood. This was the first time Kate had ever interrogated him—didn’t that mean she did care, even a little?
"I’m not interested in Kiana Sutton. The only person I’ve ever liked is you."
Faced with Ethan’s heartfelt confession, Kate didn’t budge—instead, she snorted, "Really? Now that you’re both at Evercrest Group, don’t go and catch feelings just because you see each other every day."
"If I did fall for Kiana Sutton, what would you do?"
"Don’t test me with that. But since you asked, I’ll tell you straight: If you really did fall for Kiana Sutton, I’d be thrilled. If you actually manage to win her over, I’d thank you for it."
Ethan’s handsome face instantly darkened. So much for caring—all she cared about was Ethan Sinclair.
"I called you today because I found out someone’s looking into what happened with Gordon Sutton three years ago. Go help me find out what that’s about."
Ethan might be angry, but he’d never refuse Kate anything.
"The only person in this world who’d be investigating Gordon Sutton’s kidnapping from three years ago must be Kiana Sutton."
"That’s what I thought, too. Didn’t expect she still hasn’t given up. We can’t let her find any leads from back then. Otherwise, it’d be bad for both of us."
"Yeah." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"No, Kiana Sutton’s like a ticking time bomb. Every day she stays by Ian’s side is another day of risk for us. We have to find a way to get her and Ian to divorce as soon as possible."
Ethan curled his lips into a smile, "Actually, I have an idea..."
