His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 136: You Bullied Me While I Was Sick
The two of them were suddenly very close, and Kiana Sutton’s breath caught, her heart skipping a beat.
Especially being stared at so intently by Ethan Sinclair, her heart was out of her control, and her face turned pale bit by bit.
She struggled to pull her hand away, quickly averted her gaze, and gestured a few times, "If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going out first."
With that, she quickly ran out of the study.
Ethan Sinclair frowned deeply, feeling quite frustrated.
Previously, when Kiana got angry, she’d soon come to coax him.
This time was different, she had been upset for so long?
She was getting bolder and bolder.
But as long as he thought about Kiana avoiding him, besides feeling annoyed, there was an indescribable unease in Ethan’s heart.
After thinking over this, Ethan sent a message to Quinn Sinclair.
"If someone makes you angry, what would they need to do to make you calm down?"
Quinn was enjoying the ice lychee peeled by Mason Kane, and upon seeing the message, she let out a proud hum, "Two days earlier than I expected, seems like my sister-in-law is really angry this time."
Thinking about how Kiana lacked money recently, she immediately replied to Ethan.
"Of course, send me a red envelope!" 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"A red envelope?"
"Opening red envelopes is a way to relieve stress. The bigger and more the red envelopes, the quicker my anger dissipates. Of course, if he buys me bags, jewelry, or limited edition motorcycles, I’d be even happier."
Seeing Ethan hadn’t replied, Quinn immediately sent Kiana a message.
"Sister-in-law, if my brother sends you a red envelope later, you must accept it!"
Kiana was feeling down about how to deal with Ethan, and seeing Quinn’s message, she sent a question mark.
Why would Ethan send her a red envelope?
"Sigh... my brother might be upset, he’s sending red envelopes everywhere to vent. If you don’t accept his red envelope, he’ll definitely think you’re rejecting him."
Was Ethan upset?
He seemed quite normal just now.
The next moment, her phone started beeping, and sure enough, Ethan had sent her a transfer of twenty thousand.
Soon after, the beeping continued nonstop, and Ethan sent several more transfers repeatedly.
After her phone finally stopped ringing, Kiana counted that he had sent a total of ten transfers, amounting to two hundred thousand.
This amount was almost equivalent to Kiana’s annual salary, and naturally, she didn’t dare to accept it, so she immediately sent Quinn a message.
"Quinn, what should I do? Ethan sent me two hundred thousand!"
"Accept it, what else can you do?"
"But this... is too much!"
"Ah, sister-in-law, don’t you get it? The more money my brother sends you, the more upset he is."
"Really?"
"Truer than pure gold!"
"...Alright then."
"Mm-hmm, go ahead and spend it freely. If it’s not enough, just ask my brother for more."
In the study.
Ethan observed that Kiana had accepted all the money he sent, but he waited for a long time without her coming to find him.
She didn’t even send him a message or an emoji after accepting the money.
Was she still angry?
Or was it that Quinn’s method was completely ineffective?
So, Ethan sent a message to Julian Garrison.
"What do you do to coax your girlfriends when they’re angry?"
Julian, known for his great voice: "Oh, did you upset your dream woman? Or upset your little honey?"
Ethan: "Did I ask you or are you asking me?"
Julian: "Hehe... I’m just curious. As for me, I usually give gold."
Ethan: "Are you sure they’ll be happy receiving gold?"
Julian: "Gold is great, shiny and appreciates in value. If I give them something I love, how can they not be happy?"
Julian: "Hey, didn’t you have a whistle made of pure gold before? Haven’t given it out yet?"
Thinking of that whistle, Ethan’s brow furrowed tightly.
The whistle was something he made to confess to Kate Lynch back then, but now that Kate was awake, he couldn’t remember why he wanted to give her a whistle.
He didn’t even know the purpose of making that whistle, or what meaning it held.
"Kiana Sutton is a student at Varden University. Have you ever seen her when you came to visit me?"
Julian attended university abroad but occasionally returned to visit Ethan at Varden University.
"No, she’s so pretty and cute. If I’d seen her, I definitely wouldn’t forget."
Julian realized he said something wrong after sending the voice message and quickly retracted it.
"I’m off to film, good luck!"
Ethan: "..."
No one around him knew Kiana, and he himself didn’t know her, so how did Kiana fall for him?
She couldn’t possibly have fallen for him at first sight just because they slept together once, right?
Anyway, Kiana loving him was indeed... quite bothersome.
Early the next morning, Kiana received a pile of gold jewelry.
Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, even anklets, but no rings.
Kiana carefully put all the items away but still didn’t actively seek out Ethan.
This left Ethan quite frustrated; he directly summoned Kiana to his bedroom.
Upon meeting, he handed Kiana a card.
Kiana looked at Ethan with doubt, not reaching out to take it.
Ethan, growing impatient, pried open Kiana’s hand and placed the card in it, "Even anger has a limit. Enough is enough."
Kiana was stunned for a long time before realizing that Ethan had been sending red envelopes, gold jewelry, and now a card, as a way to apologize to her.
Could it be that he... already knew he had wronged her?
Thinking about it carefully, when he first saw her at the hospital, he wanted her gone.
But later, he suddenly asked her to come back, suggesting that Quinn had explained that night’s situation to him.
Knowing he misunderstood her, yet employing so many gestures, he still didn’t say a single "sorry."
If it were Kate Lynch, he probably would have held her gently and sweet-talked her already.
No!
He wouldn’t even harm Kate Lynch in the first place.
Feeling agonizingly pained, Kiana returned the card to Ethan.
Having already accepted Ethan’s money and jewelry, she wouldn’t take the card.
Ethan didn’t take the card back; his handsome face became even colder and more tense. After placing the card on the table, she slowly gestured, "I’m not angry."
Kiana indeed didn’t want to be in a cold war with Ethan. Their relationship might come to an end abruptly one day, and she just wanted to cherish the time they had left.
Besides, since he realized he had wronged her and had given so many opportunities, she would let him take the steps to reconcile.
"Not angry? Then why are you staying so far from me?"
Kiana pressed her lips together, watching Ethan step closer and closer to her.
As soon as her body moved slightly, Ethan coldly threatened, "If you dare step back, I’ll go back to the old house tomorrow and tell Grandma you bullied me while I was injured."
