His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 128: What’s There to Say to a Mute?
Ethan Sinclair glanced at Kiana Sutton and felt quite complicated as he watched her obediently handing out fruit and sushi to the crew with Connor Grant.
The phone rang again, and seeing Ethan not replying to her messages, Kate Lynch called directly.
Ethan Sinclair answered the call, "Ian, why haven’t you come over yet? I’m about to be eaten alive by mosquitoes."
Ethan took a deep, frustrated breath. "On my way."
It was the height of summer, scorching hot, and mosquitoes were rampant.
When Ethan found Kate Lynch, she was pitifully curled up under a large tree, flailing her arms, "Pesky mosquitoes, stay away from me."
When she saw Ethan Sinclair, she immediately got up and ran to his side, pouting and complaining, "Fifth Master Sinclair, you finally came. Seeing you alone is harder than reaching the heavens." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Kate Lynch had been protecting her face the whole time, so it wasn’t bitten by mosquitoes, but her arms and the back of her hands weren’t so lucky.
Seeing the red, swollen bumps on her fair arms, Ethan frowned slightly. "There are even more mosquitoes in the woods."
"I just didn’t want to trouble you!"
Ethan didn’t say anything but took out a bottle of green floral water.
Kate Lynch obediently turned around, letting Ethan tend to her.
Perhaps disliking the scent of the floral water, Ethan’s brow furrowed tightly, and his expression didn’t look too pleasant.
Connor Grant said it was effective against mosquitoes, but its smell was unexpected.
Seeing the floral water had stained his black gloves, Kate immediately worried, "Ian, your gloves got dirty. Why not take them off?"
"Alright."
Ethan Sinclair took off his gloves, revealing his distinct, slender, and beautiful hands.
This was the first time Kate Lynch had seen Ethan’s hands, confirming that whether it’s his face, build, or hands, he was perfectly flawless.
Though they had known each other since childhood, when Kate met Ethan, he was already wearing gloves, never taking them off all year round.
Because of this, his hands looked like white jade, with bluish veins clearly visible beneath the skin.
Whenever she touched Ethan, it was always through clothes and gloves, never touching the real him, always feeling like she could never reach his heart.
Kiana Sutton could actually be so close to him; thinking about the scene she accidentally glimpsed last time, Kate felt overwhelming jealousy and anger.
Just then, a mosquito landed on Ethan’s hand.
"Watch out!"
Kate slapped Ethan’s hand. The instant their skin touched, a sharp pain shot through Ethan’s hand.
He looked down and saw the place where Kate touched already flushed red.
Yet Kate had just felt the cool and gentle touch before Ethan quickly pulled his hand away.
Kate’s hand awkwardly paused in midair.
Realizing his reaction was excessive, Ethan was about to speak when Kate laughed, "Your blood seems sweeter than mine. When you show up, mosquitoes go after you and not me."
Ethan’s mood was rather restless, surprised himself that he was allergic to Kate’s touch.
But why could that woman, Kiana Sutton?
Where exactly did things go wrong?
Seeing Ethan’s troubled expression, Kate worried he might recall something, quickly diverted his attention, "Ian, do I look ugly like this now?"
Kate wore an old-fashioned red blouse, with her hair in two braids, makeup-free but still fair.
Ethan gathered all his emotions and smiled faintly, "Not ugly at all. It’s a rare chance to collaborate with Director Young, so do your best."
"Got it, I won’t let you down. Oh, right, when the movie comes out, let’s watch it together!"
"Sure."
Seeing Ethan’s low spirits, though uncomfortable himself, Kate put on a generous front, "Come on, let’s hurry back; there are too many mosquitoes here, it’s irritating."
"Alright."
After returning to the site, Ethan Sinclair didn’t see Kiana Sutton.
Connor Grant wiped his sweat and walked over, "Fifth Master, everything’s been handed out to everyone."
"Where’s Kiana Sutton?"
Following Ethan, Kate Lynch clenched her fists when she heard this.
How long had they been apart, and he’s already eager to see Kiana Sutton?
"Oh, the Young Madam’s assistant just came for her, saying the Madam wanted to see the Young Madam, so she went with her."
"What!?"
Ethan’s expression turned grim. He knew Zoe Xavier wasn’t someone who enjoyed making things difficult for others.
Yet she had her reservations about Kiana Sutton using underhanded means to marry him.
Without overthinking it, Ethan quickly headed for Zoe Xavier’s lounge.
But he was stopped by Zoe’s assistant at the door, "President Sinclair, Ms. Xavier and Miss Sutton have things to discuss, please wait a moment."
Ethan’s face was quite unsightly, "My mom doesn’t understand sign language; what can she possibly say to a mute? Have Kiana Sutton come out; we need to leave."
The assistant smiled slightly, "Ms. Xavier asked you to wait a bit."
It meant Zoe Xavier anticipated Ethan coming, so arranged for someone to hold him back.
After all, she was part of Zoe Xavier’s team, while Ethan wouldn’t act rashly out of respect for her status.
Inside the room.
Kiana Sutton looked at the character dossier Zoe had given her, tears falling uncontrollably.
As an actress, Zoe had seen many people shed tears instantly or get stuck in emotions, but never seen someone cry so heartbreakingly and hopelessly.
Usually cold and distant, Zoe suddenly panicked, wanting to gesture to Kiana, but Kiana wouldn’t look at her, eyes fixed on the script.
Helplessly, Zoe sighed, "Enough! Stop crying!"
Hearing Zoe’s voice, Kiana glanced up, holding back tears but unable to control it.
Her silent crying sparked a sense of pity in others.
"I wanted you to help analyze Miss Forrest’s inner world as a mute; you keep crying, how can we communicate?"
When Zoe first took the role, she had Kiana in mind.
Initially, she didn’t have a good impression of Kiana, but ever since the "letter-writing" incident and Kiana’s performance at the elder’s birthday, her view of her changed.
Now facing some issues filming, Zoe could portray Miss Forrest but felt she couldn’t grasp the character’s core, only the surface, even if the director approved, she wasn’t satisfied herself.
Seeing Kiana around, she thought sharing the mute experience, Kiana could offer insights.
Little did she expect, Kiana started crying non-stop once seeing the dossier.
Vividly demonstrated the phrase "Women are made of water."
Kiana sobbed till she hiccupped, set down the script, wiped away tears then gestured, "This Miss Forrest is so pitiful."
"...I know."
"For us, it doesn’t matter what others say; however, if someone we care about hurts us, it’s more painful than death."
Despite streaming tears, Kiana couldn’t control it, continuing to gesture with teary eyes.
"But, being born human, we must revere life, regardless of the hardships and setbacks, life brings hope. Miss Forrest is the same, endured so many hardships, though alone, no matter how tough life gets, she strives to live, so her journey isn’t in vain."
