Chapter 435: Chapter 435 Experience?

Jay and Jace quietly moved to the couch near the bed and sat down. Neither of them spoke. Neither of them even shifted much, as if any movement might disturb the fragile calm in the room. The soft light fell over Bella’s sleeping face, her breathing finally slow and even, though her fingers were still clenched tightly around Leo’s hand, refusing to let go even in sleep.

It took a long while before Leo was sure she was truly asleep.

Only then did he lift his gaze toward Jay and Jace. His eyes looked tired now, the sharp edge dulled by exhaustion and worry.

"You two can go home," Leo said quietly.

Jay shook his head immediately, almost offended. "No, brother. We’ll go together with Bella," he said firmly, then smiled softly. "We can take care of her too."

Leo looked at them for a moment. Something in his expression eased. The tightness in his jaw loosened just a little as he took in their faces, their concern, their sincerity.

Before he could say anything more, Jay spoke again, his voice lower now. "Are you going to talk to Alan?" he asked. "I got reports he’s still nearby... at the park."

The air in the room changed.

Leo’s jaw tightened instantly, his eyes darkening. He didn’t answer right away. His gaze dropped to Bella, to the way her fingers were wrapped around his hand like it was the only safe thing she knew.

"Yeah," Leo finally said, his voice calm but heavy. "I need to clear some things with him."

He carefully tried to ease his hand free from Bella’s grip.

The moment he did, her fingers tightened instinctively, even in sleep, holding him back.

Leo’s chest squeezed painfully.

He bent down and pressed a gentle kiss to her knuckles, lingering there for a moment. Then he leaned closer and whispered softly, "I’ll be right back, bunny."

Slowly, he gestured to Jay.

"Take care of your sister-in-law," Leo said quietly.

Jay nodded at once and moved closer to the bed, sitting where Leo had been moments ago. The moment he took Bella’s hand, she shifted slightly and tightened her grip around his fingers instead, as if reassured without waking.

Jay froze.

Then his eyes softened, and something warm bloomed in his chest. Bella trusted him. Truly trusted him. He knew how rare that was, especially for someone who had gone through trauma. His throat tightened, and his eyes burned unexpectedly.

Jace came closer too, sitting beside Jay. He carefully reached out and rested his hand over Bella’s, joining Jay’s, letting her feel both of them there.

Her breathing stayed calm.

Jay looked up at Leo and nodded firmly.

"We’ve got her," he said.

Leo held his gaze for a moment, then turned toward the door.

Just as he reached it, Bella stirred slightly in her sleep.

"Jay... Jay... Jace..." she murmured faintly.

Jay smiled softly, his eyes shining as he leaned closer. "We’re here, Bella," he whispered, even though she couldn’t hear him.

Jace smiled too, quieter but just as warm.

And Leo paused at the door for just a second longer, listening to her breathing, before stepping out to face the thing he had been holding back all night.

The world lay drowned in heavy darkness, no stars above, only a cold wind moving through the silence. The road stretched ahead under tired yellow streetlights, their glow weak and lonely, and about four hundred meters from Spring Villa, a small park waited in the shadows, quiet and forgotten at this hour.

Leo walked toward it with unhurried steps, his bodyguards following him from a careful distance, alert but silent. The wind brushed against his white shirt, tugging at the fabric, ruffling his hair slightly. His hands remained tucked inside the pockets of his grey pants, his posture relaxed but his face cold and closed off.

He entered the park.

And he saw Alan immediately.

Alan sat on a bench near the path, his elbows resting on his knees, one hand covering his mouth as if holding back something bitter. His gaze was blank, unfocused, staring at the ground. He looked exhausted, hollowed out, nothing like the confident man who once stood beside Leo as a friend.

Leo lifted his hand slightly, signaling his guards to stop. They stayed back without question.

Leo walked forward alone.

Alan sensed someone approaching and slowly looked up. The moment he recognized Leo, his body stiffened. He stood up abruptly.

"You..." Alan said, his voice low, uncertain.

Leo let out a short, mocking sound. "Heh."

He stopped a few steps away, eyes sharp and unreadable.

"So," Leo said calmly, "you really believe I didn’t deserve her."

Alan swallowed but didn’t answer.

Leo tilted his head slightly. "Then tell me something. Who did she deserve?" His lips curved faintly, not in humor but contempt. "You?"

Alan clenched his jaw.

"The same man who sleeps with hundreds of women," Leo continued, his voice steady, slicing cleanly, "wakes up next to strangers and doesn’t even bother remembering their names?"

"That’s not fair," Alan snapped, anger flashing in his eyes. "Don’t talk like you’re any better. You’re cold. Dry. Emotionless." His chest rose and fell faster. "You didn’t even appreciate Alexa’s efforts. You never once acknowledged her feelings. A man like that..." he scoffed, "do you really think you’re capable of love?"

Leo listened without interrupting.

Alan went on, words spilling faster. "I feel bad for Bella, okay? I admit that. Because of me, she’s suffering. But I don’t feel bad for you. Not even a little. I know what kind of man you are."

For a moment, Leo was silent.

Then he laughed. A short, sharp laugh at first, full of disbelief. Then louder, echoing slightly through the park.

"So that’s the story you told yourself," Leo said between laughs.

He stopped laughing abruptly and looked straight at Alan.

"You were manipulated by Alexa," Leo said bluntly. "And you still don’t see it."

Alan’s eyes darkened. "Don’t drag her into this."

"Oh, I will," Leo replied calmly. "And yes, I didn’t appreciate her efforts. Because I never asked for them. I never promised her anything. It was my life." His voice hardened. "If I don’t like someone, I have every right to ignore them. Especially when their behavior crosses into obsession." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Alan’s fists clenched. "You still didn’t deserve Bella," he said fiercely. "I can take care of her. I understand her better. I have experience. You don’t even know how to respond emotionally."

Leo raised an eyebrow slowly. "Experience?"

"Yes," Alan said, heat rising in his chest. "I know how women think. I know how to comfort them. I—"

"Yeah," Leo cut in lazily, "experience from sleeping with Alexa."

Alan froze. His eyes widened. "How do you—"
