His Forsaken Luna-Chapter 22: Lady of the Night
Loud footsteps and the ground vibration had me turning around, but I couldn’t look at the Alpha Prince. My heat had flared up again and was still trying to push me towards him. It was almost painful to stand here and not touch him. Such was this curse.
This was why I needed to stay away from Eryx as much as possible. Otherwise I will end up finishing the mate process. Neither of us want that.
Eryx’s large hand clamped down on my shoulder. "Time to go, Lli." My eyes shot up past his chest. He wasn’t even looking at me but Sverre. "You will watch that tongue of yours, Crow."
"Of course, Alpha." Sverre dipped his head.
"Crow?" I whispered, looking at the beast of an Alpha Prince in question.
Eryx’s eyes snapped down to me as he moved to my side and pushed me forward. "Enough from you, Lli. You’ve done enough for one night."
"Excuse me?" I glared up at him.
Eryx smirked, eyes glittering, but then they hardened. "Keep moving," he ordered gruffly.
"I will send your items to your home!" Sverre called out to me.
I nodded over my shoulder, but I couldn’t see past Eryx’s chest.
The Alpha Prince’s hand slid to my lower back as he escorted me down the stairs. It wasn’t until we were in the cold night air, I realised I never gave Sverre my address. Not that I’d ever planned to.
It was fine, I will return another night. At least for now I knew the direction of the ports.
I’m escorted through the town, Eryx’s hand remaining on my back the entire time as he directs me and barges some people out of the way. Initially, they turn to fight until they see Eryx’s ridiculous form. His hood cloaks his sun-kissed features, but everyone can feel the dangerous energy radiating from him.
It was obvious the cloaked man was a powerful Alpha and not one to be messed with. After the first few Weres brushed aside like annoying flies, many backed away from us. Unlike my path through the woods, Eryx escorted me along the trail, returning to the palace. He placed me on the Snow Stallion, a large white horse with a black mane, big enough for the bulky size of the Southern Were, with hooves the size of round plates.
I shared the saddle with the Prince. I side-saddled and slowly kept sliding into his crotch. Every time, heat crawled up my skin. Eryx didn’t comment on my scent. He stared ahead, expression hard, the only indication of annoyance both from the tense silence and the ticking muscle in his jaw.
When the gates approached, Eryx dropped his hood. The guards waited for me to reveal myself. "A lady of the night," Eryx explained, his hand splaying against my stomach almost possessively. "For my men."
Ugh, nausea rolled through me. The guards grinned and allowed our entry. "That’s what you get for escaping in the middle of the night," Eryx whispered into my ear gruffly.
"I didn’t say anything," I hissed.
"You didn’t have to."
Eryx led the horse back to the stable before dismantling, hands reaching up to lift me off. Feeling annoyed, embarrassed and stubborn, I hopped off. Eryx caught me mid-air, holding me by the waist until I was placed on the snowy ground. I couldn’t help but notice the squelching mud I would have landed in.
It would have still been worth it. As though he had read my mind, Eryx scoffed. "Your muddy footprints would lead back to your palace."
My eyebrows rose. So, he was right. Eryx released me and glared down at me. "You’ve been warned, Lia. I will hunt you down to the ends of this world and the next if you try to flee." With one last fleeting look over my body, a flickering of his beast in his gaze, inciting a shiver and arousal from me, he storms off, all menace and unsettling ire surrounding him.
Any servants and slaves that were still working ran away in the opposite direction. I watched his retreating back. Where was that guard?
Shaking my head and my arms to get rid of this inferno within me, I walked in the opposite direction, keeping my head low. Fortunately, I sneaked back into my palace successfully and was not seen. In the spare room, I removed the cloak and started combing through my hair with a long sigh.
Flames still flickered along my blood, and the phantom feel of his hands on me, on my neck and lips, wasn’t going away. A splash of cold water to my face will stop these ridiculous urges. He’s the Alpha Prince of an enemy kingdom, an arrogant Were who was using me. Get it together!
I slapped the side of my face, letting the pain filter away the desire to mate with Eryx. Then I quickly changed, putting my robe on, the one I left there for these mini escapes. The gossamer blue gown wouldn’t keep me warm, but I didn’t need it to. My body was almost sweating from this cursed heat.
Barefoot and in my gown, I allowed the darkness of the halls outside to swallow me up. I was as quiet as a mouse, returning to my chambers. I wanted to check up on Theo, but I didn’t trust myself. Not right now. Soren was also there. Nope, I needed a cold bath and to go to bed.
Closing the door behind me quietly, I sighed as it clicked shut and stepped forward.
"Where have you been?" A deep baritone voice questioned from across the bed.
I swallowed thickly as my heat surged forward. Soren stood tall, glaring at me. I stepped closer, my chest rising and falling quickly. His steely and cinnamon scent wrapped around me, reminding me of that night and how he’d kneeled between my legs.
"Princess?" He gulped, eyes widening before his head tilted back, inhaling deeply and breathed out, "Fuck."
