His After The Heartbreak (BL)-Chapter 196: See You In Court
Chapter 196: See You In Court
Chapter 196- See You In Court
LOGAN’S POV
"I’m not going to leave," she said, loud and proud like she owned the damn place.
I clenched my jaw, trying not to snap.
I breathed in... then out. Slowly.
I tried to calm myself, but this woman? She was testing my patience.
"You know what, Rachel..." I said quietly at first. "I really don’t want to get angry. I swear I don’t. But you... you really want to see me explode, don’t you?"
She didn’t even blink.
Then she looked me dead in the eyes.
"Shut your bitch ass up," she snapped, waving her hand like I was some annoying fly. "You—you—are the creator of this problem. You have no right to talk when your father and I are talking. None."
She even had the nerve to smile after that.
"Know that... and know peace," she added with a smirk like she just dropped some ancient wisdom.
I almost burst into laughter right there—not because it was funny, but because this woman truly had no idea who she was talking to.
She thought I was still that small, scared boy she left behind. But times had changed.
What she didn’t know... what she didn’t understand... is that I now had the final say about my father.
Not her.
Me.
I could look my dad in the eye and say kick her out, and he would. No hesitation. That’s how deep her fall from grace was.
So I tilted my head, still trying to keep my voice level. "What do you mean by that?"
She shrugged, like this was all casual.
"Your father and I made a deal," she said proudly. "He told me that if I could convince you to stay, then he would take me back. That was our agreement."
I stared at her. My fingers twitched.
She wasn’t done.
"And now that you’re staying," she said, grinning like a fool, "it means he’s taking me back. Nothing is going to stop that now."
I blinked.
"You think I’m staying?" I asked quietly.
She nodded.
"Yes," she said with confidence. "Whether I convinced you or not, the deal is fulfilled. You’re staying—that’s all that matters. That was our deal. So now, your father is mine again."
My blood ran cold.
This woman was serious.
She thought because I was here... in this house... breathing the same air as her... that she had won?
She really thought she could just show up, run her mouth, and slither her way back into my father’s life?
I couldn’t hold back anymore.
"You really are insane," I muttered. "You honestly believe my dad would take you back just like that?"
She shrugged again, her eyes full of arrogance.
"Logan, listen to me—he promised. You stayed, so I get my reward. That’s how it works."
I laughed. I actually laughed.
A bitter, cold, tired laugh.
"So sad, Rachel," I said, slowly stepping closer. "But you got one thing wrong."
I leaned in, just enough for her to feel my words.
"I’m not staying."
Her smile dropped.
"I never agreed to anything," I told her. "You didn’t convince me. You didn’t change anything. You’re still the same manipulative, selfish woman who abandoned her son and blamed him for your own shit."
Her eyes darted toward my dad, like she was silently begging him to say something. But he didn’t move.
I turned my head slightly.
"So now that your little plan didn’t work out," I said, smirking, "your ’deal’ is dead. Just like your place in this house."
Her lips trembled.
"Now," I said, my voice low but sharp like a knife, "get the fuck out of this house before I make your already useless life even more useless."
Her body jolted.
I saw her fear.
For the first time, she was scared..
She looked at me like she didn’t even recognize me.
She might be standing there wondering how everything about me changed in just a few years. How I went from that quiet, desperate kid to the version of me now—cold, loud, angry, and unbothered.
But guess what?
She’s never going to know. And even if she begs for answers, I won’t give her a damn thing.
She didn’t come back because she was sorry. Let’s not kid ourselves.
She came back because she’s broke.
She’s got no money, no roof over her head, no one left to manipulate. And she thought, maybe if I fake some tears, maybe if I say I’m sorry, maybe my son will let me in.
Wrong.
The only thing she’s ever going to get from me is the door slamming in her face.
She’s not my mother.
Not anymore.
The only parent I’ve ever had—the only one who ever stayed, who ever cared—is my dad. And he’s more than enough for me. More than she ever was, more than she ever will be.
Then she said it.
"Alright, I’m going to go... but it’s not going to be that easy," she said.
Boom. There it was. I knew it. I knew she couldn’t just leave. I felt it in my bones—this woman doesn’t walk away empty-handed.
I turned slowly to face her, already feeling the headache coming.
"It’s either you give me half of your wealth," she said, looking my father dead in the eye, "or I’ll go to court and tell them that you’ve been treating Logan badly. I’ll file for full custody. I’ll tell them I want to be his only guardian."
I just stood there, blinking at her.
What?
"And once they grant it," she went on, her tone so confident like she was reading from a victory speech, "you’ll be alone for the rest of your life."
I stared at her like she’d grown two heads.
Was this woman... okay?
Wait. Scratch that. I didn’t need to ask. She’s not okay. Not even close.
"So let me get this straight," I asked her, trying to make sure I was hearing correctly, "you want to take half of my father’s money? His life savings? Everything he’s worked for?"
She looked me dead in the eye and nodded like it was the most normal thing in the world.
"Exactly. Positive," she said. "It’s either he gives me half of his wealth, or I’ll take you away."
She even smiled.
"We’ll suffer together," she added with this evil grin, "while he enjoys his riches alone."
I wanted to laugh and scream at the same time. The madness was unbelievable.
"I’ll lie to the court," she said like it was nothing. "I’ll twist the story so bad they won’t believe a word he says. And when they rule in my favor, I’ll file for child support."
"And once he sends me money," she went on, "I’ll spend it all on myself. Every damn cent. I won’t buy you anything. I’ll let you starve if I want. I’ll send you to some dirty, forgotten school where the poorest of the poor go to rot."
"How does that sound to you?" I asked, narrowing my eyes at her.
She tilted her head, smirked like she had just won the lottery, and slowly raised one brow like she was the queen of the damn world.
"It sounds perfect," she said with this ugly smile on her face. "My plan is so perfect, Logan. It will work out so smoothly."
I let her talk.
Then I laughed.
She really thought she had everything figured out. She really thought she was going to outsmart me and my father.
So I stood up straighter, looked her dead in the eyes, and spoke slowly.
"You forgot one little thing, Rachel," I said. "You were so busy dreaming of money and lies that you forgot something very important."
She frowned. Her smirk didn’t reach her eyes this time.
"I’m over eighteen."
Just like that, her smile cracked.
I watched the color drain from her face, like someone had just dumped a bucket of ice water over her head.
"Yeah," I continued, enjoying the look on her face. "I’m legal. An adult. A grown-ass man. You can’t take me to court. You can’t demand custody. You can’t drag my father through the mud using me as bait."
"That’s never going to happen," I added coldly. "So let that sink in. Deep."
Her mouth opened a little, but no words came out.
I smiled to myself. "That came as a surprise, right? You didn’t see that one coming."
Honestly, I didn’t even want to imagine what she was feeling now. Embarrassed?
Good.
She deserved it.
"Now get the fuck out of this house," I said, my voice sharp and final. "This is the last time. You’re not welcome here. Ever."
She turned like she was finally about to leave... but then she paused.
Of course.
She never just leaves, does she?
She had to open her damn mouth one last time.
"You might have won with Logan, Lucian," she said, turning to face my dad now, "but you didn’t win with Benita. Your little girl."
And then she pointed.
Benita stood quietly in the corner, just watching.
Her smile twisted cruelly. "So I’m still always one step ahead of you."
"Now you’re going to choose, Lucian," she said. "Give me half of your life savings... or I’ll do exactly what I promised."
Her eyes flicked toward Benita.
"This time, you won’t be able to say she’s legal. Because she’s not. She’s only fourteen. And the court? The court’s going to believe me."
She smiled like she’d already won.
My dad cleared his throat, and reached into his pocket.
Rachel frowned. "What the hell are you doing?"
And then...
He held up a small recorder.
A red light still blinking.
Her entire face changed. Her smirk vanished. Her eyes widened in pure horror. Her skin turned pale, like all the blood in her body had just disappeared.
He played it.
Her voice. Clear. Loud. Every single thing she said.
From blackmail... to threats... to using Benita.
He recorded everything.
"I’ve got more copies, see you in court and let’s see if the court is going to rule on your favor."
