High School of Demon Hunting-Chapter 2409 - 630: The New Class Schedule (Part 1)
When Zheng Qing was a child, he loved splashing through puddles in the rain, and the wet shoes and splashing water always made him feel that life should be lived with such liveliness.
As he grew up, this childish pleasure gradually faded away.
He’s not sure exactly when it disappeared—perhaps it was the countless times his shoes got wet and he got scolded by his parents, or maybe it was when he learned in natural science class that rain contains bacteria that can make people sick, or when he read in geography class about acid rain that can corrode buildings.
Surely human skin is not tougher than buildings, so splashing in the rain is not the right choice.
But doing the right thing is often not very joyful.
Just like now.
There are some things he wishes he never knew.
Sitting in the study of Greenhill Mansion, as he watched the drizzly rain outside through the window, he suddenly felt the urge to dash out and splash in the puddles again.
He didn’t want to admit that this impulse arose from his irritation at the adult understanding of ’common sense’ after hearing Su Shi Jun’s earlier words, instead, he unconsciously tried to blame it on Poseidon or Su Ya.
Perhaps only the two of them in this mansion truly understand how joyful it is to revel in the rain.
Of course, this foolish thought swiftly passed through his mind.
He certainly didn’t want to be dealt with by the Big Fox for indulging the Little Fox.
The young student pulled his gaze back from the window, returning to the parchment before him, let out a heavy sigh, and continued to ask humbly, "...So, what does a teacher’s wealth have to do with academic credit deduction?"
"A wealthy teacher won’t treat you as ’resources,’ but rather as ’achievements.’ Resources need to be deeply buried underground, ideally only known to the excavator themselves. Achievements, naturally, should be presented to the world as early as possible for a greater sense of accomplishment."
As he spoke, an Upper House Member from the Moon Council pulled out a comfy-looking high-back chair from the void, leisurely sat at the top, and fiddled with the remaining names before him:
"...Once you’ve chosen the right teacher, there’s only one thing left to do: choose the right course. Even wizards who excel at divination choose between ’Hemp Robe Divination’ and ’Interpretation of Centenarian Scriptures,’ which are entirely different concepts. A person cannot be both specialized and broad. Therefore, to obtain ’credit deduction,’ you must select subjects where you have absolute confidence."
At the words ’absolute confidence,’ Zheng Qing hesitated and erased the previously decided ’Second-Order Battle Array Theory’ from the parchment, leaving only ’Second-Order Battle Array Practice.’
The Atonement Hunting Team had actually skillfully mastered the second-order battle array by borrowing the Bo Fu Clan’s blood essence and Xin Fat Man’s special giant bloodline, allowing them to grasp many high-tier battle array skills that many formally registered hunting teams haven’t mastered in a short time.
If he was truly tasked with analyzing the relevant battle array theory logically and reasonably, it would indeed be challenging.
"Who is this Teacher Liang Hong? Does the school still have this professor?"
Jiang Yu’s voice suddenly rang through the room, interrupting the warlock’s thoughts. He looked up to see Jiang Yu intently staring at the names listed by Su Shi Jun, eyebrows beautifully knitted.
She was familiar with the professors and lecturers Zheng Qing was close to; the sudden appearance of ’Teacher Liang Hong’ on the list inexplicably caught her attention.
The owner of Greenhill Mansion chuckled dryly, saying with a tonal sarcasm, "Oh, this one... She’s a young teaching assistant Zheng Qing met just this past winter break, not very old and quite pretty..."
Zheng Qing blinked, still not catching on.
"This winter break?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Jiang Yu suddenly turned to look at Zheng Qing, startling the young man into instinctively leaning back—the instant gave him the impression of a fierce white-furred tiger pouncing toward him—while a slight reprimand from the witch echoed beside his ear: "You wanted me to go home for the New Year... just to meet a new female teaching assistant?"
What kind of ridiculous logic is this!
Zheng Qing felt he was struggling to keep up with the witch’s rather erratic train of thought, but he could clearly see the fleeting mischievous smile of Su Shi Jun. It only took a few seconds for him to figure out the crux of the situation.
"The captain of the Red Training Hunting Team!"
The warlock felt as though he’d just surfaced from water, eagerly gulping fresh air, his voice resonating with urgency: "That ’Liang Hong’ lady is the captain of the Red Training Hunting Team, she’s an assistant professor, both Thomas and Hilda know her... During the winter break, she promised that if I chose her practice course, she’d directly give me full marks!"
He retold the story in simple terms as if pouring beans out of a bamboo tube.
Once he felt he had explained things quite clearly and saw the witch’s aura gradually calming down, he let out a low breath, adding, "...I think if with my second-order battle array practice, if I apply to Hilda for ’credit deduction,’ he will definitely nag with lots of nonsense... So I want to try out at Liang’s place... Just giving it a try, yep, that’s it."
Jiang Yu lowered her eyelids, scribbling the feather pen randomly on the paper, seemingly a bit embarrassed.
Su Shi Jun sighed regretfully, provoking the warlock’s angry glare, to which she replied with a playful grin, tapping Zheng Qing’s parchment:
"So, the subjects you’ve confirmed for credit deduction right now are only these—Liang’s Second-Order Battle Array Practice, an elective course, two credits; Thomas’s Basic Talisman Production, an elective course, two credits; Professor Yi’s Directional Transformation Technique, a major elective, three credits; Professor Yi’s Transformation Practice, an elective course, two credits; Zhu Si’s Dream Interpretation, an elective course, two credits; Zhang Huaigu’s Basic Runes, a major elective, three credits; Old Yao’s Death Philosophy, a general elective course, two credits... What kind of ridiculous courses are these!"
Zheng Qing evasively shifted his gaze.
In fact, he wasn’t sure if the ’Death Philosophy’ course could be deducted, but he saw the course description mentioning the main content was to allow students to independently and clearly understand the concept of death by describing the world post-death—the one who had visited The Land of Void felt no one understood what it was like better than him—plus Old Yao was teaching, which made him somewhat more confident.
"I think such superficial courses, no one will fail them, ha," the warlock chuckled, feigning ease: "And since Old Yao wants me to graduate early, he definitely wouldn’t offer no benefits at all..."
"Don’t be so sure, that old man..." Su Shi Jun twirled the feather pen with her fingertip, paused, and reminded, "Anyway, you must go find him by tomorrow at the latest to confirm the possibility of credit deduction so you have enough time to submit your new class schedule after school starts."
