Hero Hack: Reversing Heroes and Raising Harem-Chapter 66: Explosive Growth... Literally
Chapter 66: Explosive Growth... Literally
Impakto frowned, eyes scanning the lounge.
"Let me deactivate Sound Drown for a second," he muttered, annoyed.
He snapped his fingers—click.
A pulse rippled through the air as normal sound returned.
Footsteps. Wind hum.
The low mechanical thrum of the train tracks.
Razorwaltz’s head turned sharply.
Her eyes scanning every reflection and surface.
"Where’s the shooter?" she muttered.
Zain was already on the move.
He activated Quick Step just before the sound returned.
He blurred from his hiding spot and slipped behind a row of train seats.
He pressed into the shadows near a reflective wall panel.
Then—
Fading in the Dark.
His form vanished again.
By the time Razorwaltz came over and checked the place.
There was no one there.
She frowned. "No footprints. No breathing. Not even a scent."
She spun around slowly, boots tapping lightly.
"How can that be possible?"
Meanwhile, Zain had already switched tactics.
He muttered under his breath.
"Long-range failed. Let’s try close."
He pulled a small blade of blood from his palm.
It was shaped like a combat knife, honed and deadly.
Blood Blade formed.
"Impact Tag in the edge. Let’s see how you handle this."
He activated Quiet Steps—his movement turning silent.
Then, he layered Quick Step again, blinking forward from shadow to shadow.
Flick. Flick. Flick.
He closed in on Impakto’s blind spot, only a few meters away.
"I’m right behind you..."
Then he struck.
His blood-forged blade stabbed straight into Impakto’s shoulder from behind.
Impact Tag flaring red along the edge.
BOOM—!
The blade detonated the moment it pierced flesh.
Impakto screamed, staggering forward as smoke and blood burst from his left side.
"Gah—! What the hell?!"
Zain vanished instantly.
Quick Step chaining into Mirror Step.
He flickered through a mirror panel across the car.
He landed silently and vanished into the shadows again.
Layering Fade in the Dark with Quiet Steps.
Impakto clutched his injured shoulder.
He snarled through gritted teeth.
"Coward!"
His voice rang out, echoing through the half-lit car.
"Where are you?! Show yourself!"
But Zain was already gone again.
Impakto’s face twisted with frustration.
"Fine. You want to hide—"
He held up two fingers and snapped.
"Then I’ll flush you out."
Sound Drown reactivated.
The cabin went dead silent.
Then—
Phase Charge.
Impakto phased forward.
He moved through three rows of seats and vanished into the wall.
BOOM!
A small explosion burst from his exit point, blowing open the floor panel nearby.
At the same time, he touched several surfaces with his uninjured hand.
Impact Tags glowing faintly across the walls and chairs.
Zain, hidden above near the ceiling duct shadows, smirked.
"Too loud. Too slow."
He blinked sideways into another mirror panel, dodging easily.
Meanwhile, Razorwaltz stood near the edge of the car, arms crossed, glaring at the destruction.
She didn’t move.
"Impakto," she called out. Her voice was cold.
"You idiot. I said to wait."
Impakto snarled from across the room.
"If he doesn’t come out, I’ll blow him out."
Razorwaltz’s brow twitched.
"Tch... I can’t use Waltz Zone with you tossing explosions everywhere."
She turned on her heel and began backing out of the cabin.
"If you want to die alone, be my guest."
Impakto ignored her.
He touched another wall and tossed a tag near a vent.
"I’ll turn this whole damn train into a blast field."
But then—
He froze.
His breath hitched. His fingers twitched.
"...What the—?"
He stumbled backward, hand clutching his chest.
"What the hell... what’s happening?!"
A sudden surge of pain shot through his limbs.
He dropped to one knee, gasping.
His voice cracked.
"My body—why is it... burning?!"
Veins bulged unnaturally across his neck and arms.
His skin began to twist and thicken.
His muscle fibers warped in irregular patterns.
His bones cracked. Snapped. Grew.
"AGHHH—!"
The glow from his Impact Tags flared uncontrollably.
His shoulder grew into a grotesque shape.
Bone spikes grew from his back.
Razorwaltz, who had been watching from near the cabin door, stiffened.
"What the hell—?"
She darted back instantly, retreating deeper into the train.
"Impakto?! What did you DO?!"
But Impakto didn’t respond.
He couldn’t.
His eyes were white now.
His mouth twisted open in a roar that no longer sounded human.
ROOOOOAAARRRHHH—!!
His body had fully mutated.
Twisted by Zain’s passive Blood Rage Mutation. freeweɓnovel.cøm
It was triggered the moment Zain’s blood blade pierced him earlier.
The blast marks from his Impact Tags began pulsing uncontrollably.
Even worse—
His abilities had gone active.
Sound Drown flickered and looped erratically, distorting every sound in bursts.
Phase Charge triggered without command.
His mutated body blinking in and out of walls, leaving partial explosions behind.
Tags began detonating near him randomly, some even on himself.
Razorwaltz cursed under her breath, jumping over a seat as it exploded behind her.
She covered her mouth.
"He’s lost it—he’s completely unstable!"
Somewhere from the shadows above, Zain watched, crouched in silence.
He grinned.
"Mutation... successful."
He tapped two fingers against his temple, activating a quick system re-scan.
"Let’s see if you’ve leveled up."

Zain’s grin faded.
He squinted at the display and muttered, "The fuck?"
He frowned deeply, eyes narrowing.
"Still B-Rank?"
He clenched his jaw, clearly irritated.
"All that twisting and screaming and you didn’t even break through."
His voice dropped to a cold mutter.
"Tch... must be the damn limit of my ability."
"Low-tier ability... can’t mutate you into A-Rank."
He exhaled through his nose.
"Disappointing."
Then he leaned against the metal beam, casually propping one knee up.
"But still..."
He watched as Impakto blinked through a wall.
Then part of the train’s hallway exploded, sending steel fragments flying.
Razorwaltz cursed from behind a bench, ducking just in time.
"...this is still good enough."
He smirked again, folding his arms.
"Let’s just watch the show for a bit."
Meanwhile, Razorwaltz crouched behind a bench.
Her eyes narrowed as another explosion scorched the wall beside her.
"Damn it," she hissed.
"If this keeps up... the whole plan’s going to fall apart."
