Chapter 173: Chapter 173 Plan against the Lancasters

A car honked. The gateman stood up, went to the gate, and dragged it open, letting the huge Benz glide in. It was parked carefully under the parking shed. The door opened, and a high-level boot stepped onto the asphalt, followed by another leg, revealing a pair of black, shimmering boots adorned with chains that made them glow beautifully.

Once again, it was another brand on display, written boldly on the side: Chanel.

The owner fully alighted from the car, swinging his hair—let down in waves that fell in a messy tangle, giving him a deliberately wild look. He didn’t mind; that was what he wanted. To be undiscovered as he searched for Michael, wherever he’d disappeared to. Holding onto his bag—another product of Chanel—draped around his arm, he strutted out, swaying his waist like the gorgeous model he knew he was.

This life had been badly missed. Now he was back, here to correct the errors made years ago. Walking to the elevator, the guards gave way as he entered. The machine rose to the tallest floor of the skyscraper.

When it landed, he glanced at the illuminated button and walked out, making calls on his phone until he reached the sitting room. To his dismay, it was scattered all around like a dump.

Daniel blinked, wondering if he’d entered the wrong room. But no—these were his men. And what were they doing?

Draven was holding a box of pizza as he danced to Cocomelon, twerking in front of the twins Xylander was carrying.

"Draven, you’re obstructing him from seeing the cartoon. No one wants to see you twerk," Xyle called out.

Draven stopped flat. He looked at the baby in Xylander’s arms, then over at Alexander.

"Alex! Xyle isn’t allowing me to twerk for the baby!" he pouted.

Alex groaned. "For goodness’ sake, Xyle, let him twerk. Little Lamia is already falling asleep, and I don’t want you all to disturb him."

Draven instantly went quiet, but that didn’t stop him from jumping around and landing on one of the messes on the floor, rolling his whole body over it.

Daniel stood frozen, his eyes taking in an environment that once used to be spotless. At this point, a jungle seemed better than what he was seeing.

Xylander noticed the baby he was carrying beginning to stir and cry, so he turned—only to gasp when he saw Daniel staring like a bewitched demon.

"Took you long enough to notice my presence," Daniel said. "And why is it this messy, for Christ’s sake?"

He hurried forward, taking off his bag and boots and flinging them away, narrowly missing Draven’s head.

"Hey! Watch where you throw that, darling. My eyes are precious," Draven reminded him.

Daniel looked at him for a second and rolled his eyes. Fuck. Living with three hunks was traumatizing enough—how was he supposed to concentrate on his baby and finding Michael?

"I think you’re getting a bit cranky, Draven. Come carry Lamia; let me give Daniel a massage," Alex commanded, signaling him over.

Draven refused. "I’m giving the massage, dude. Nothing would make me sacrifice it for you."

Alex smirked. "Really? I think your girlfriend would love to know where you are. I have a feeling she wouldn’t just be mad you abandoned her at the altar—your parents would, too. Especially since they were publicly outcast for their shady work. They’re probably dying to see you."

That worked instantly. Draven rushed to carry little Lamia—who had naturally red hair, one of Draven’s traits, and possessed emerald eyes just like Daniel’s.

"Well, I knew that would work," Alexander muttered to himself, standing up with Xylander.

As for Draven... what Alex said was true. Daniel didn’t know how it all happened—even Alex had yet to tell him how he’d survived those atrocious bullets—but he knew Beatrice had planned to marry him on the very day he was giving birth. Her goal was to get him there, deceive him, and force him to bond with her at the altar.

It didn’t work.

Not only did Draven not attend, but she was left at the altar. Don’t blame him for being toxic, but some people were truly dumb. If someone shows no love or interest, and is clearly forced into the relationship, trying to manipulate them into marriage is audacious. Getting dumped at the altar was the consequence of her own foolishness.

Afterwards, she’d made her threats public, outcasting Draven’s parents and exposing them as major drug dealers. Now they were being hunted, their image squashed in the mud. But it wasn’t any of Draven’s concern.

Daniel had done a good job convincing him that his parents deserved it—that he didn’t owe his happiness to people who never looked his way unless he had something to offer. It was brutal, but true.

"Don’t mind him, Draven. He won’t do that. Alex, come massage my back—damn, I feel old already." Daniel slumped onto one of the couches and let Alexander work on his back, moaning softly. He was stressed, and he didn’t like it. Neither did Xylander, who was peering at him like a stalker monitoring its next victim.

"Okay, say what you want to say, Xylander," Daniel gave him the floor, taking the baby from his hands. He pulled a milk bottle from his bag and placed it in little Liam’s mouth. The other twin was named Liam—a choice Daniel wasn’t comfortable with, fearing future confusion, but he let it go. Xylander had been eager to choose a name, for whatever reason.

"Okay, Daniel. Let’s do this." Xylander stood properly in front of him. "This new plan of yours is dangerous. First, you fake your death. Now you include Adrian. What if he kills you?"

He continued listing the troubling decisions. "Not to mention you search every morning like your babies don’t need you now. And this guy disappeared on you—why all the trouble?"

He went on. "And your hair—don’t get me started. Dyeing it purple? Come on. I loved you blonde. No doubt you look gorgeous—bolder, even—but I prefer you natural. So why all this? We were supposed to start anew, go somewhere far. But here we are in a hotel, waiting to go back to your family where we could get killed."

Xylander stopped, breathing heavily. He looked at Draven and Alex, and they both shrugged. These were their exact thoughts, maybe not as deeply felt, but similar. Daniel couldn’t help but feel heartbroken all over again.

"Xylander, you really want me to abandon my revenge and start anew? You want me to let those trash who nearly killed you and Alex go? Charles, Draven’s friend, almost died. And you want me to just forget?" He laughed bitterly.

"As for my hair—it’s a disguise. I don’t want to be recognized. I’m meant to be dead. I want my comeback to be a shock, not something exposed before it starts. And the person I’m searching for... Where would I be without him?" He asked, and they all fell quiet.

"Dead. Drowned and butchered with the baby. None of you would have ever seen me again. But Michael—that sweet soul—protected me, even when he was terminally sick. Despite having a sick sister, he still attended to me, leaving her... which resulted in her death. His only family."

Daniel began to feel that familiar sadness. He held Liam, who sucked on the bottle, unaware.

"He has only a few weeks left. I wanted him to spend them with me and the babies. We were meant to spend Christmas together, but it didn’t work. Now New Year is coming, and I want him there so badly—to see that I’m okay."

Little tears fell on his cheeks.

"I’m not who I was, Xylander. I’ve changed because I’m a mother now. I want a better future for my children—more than I had. And my parents won’t be there to ruin it. Never."

His eyes darted with rage before he passed the baby back to Xylander.

"Tomorrow makes three weeks since he disappeared. If I still can’t find him, then fine. My plan with Adrian starts. That dinner party hosted by my father will be attended. I’ll finally show him who the real boss is—and right there, I will frame him." Daniel looked at each of them. "Are you with me, or should I do this alone?"

At once, they all came together and hugged him tightly.

"It’s tonight, isn’t it?" Xylander said softly. "Let’s make our first appearance. And don’t give up—I know Michael will be found sooner than you think."

He leaned in and claimed Daniel’s lips.
