Hellhound At Supernatural Academy-Chapter 17: Aftermath
Chapter 17: Aftermath
These last three days, I've been stuck in my dorm room due to suspension, giving me a chance to think about everything that had happened—the angel I killed and the horseman lurking somewhere in the shadows. I needed to come up with a plan to figure out who he was. He was most likely a student at the school, but who? Even if I did figure out his identity, there was little I could do to stop him.
"Come on, I'm starving! Can you hurry it up already!?"
"I'll be done soon; just keep quiet until then."
"Come on, you're taking forever! It should be done by now."

"Just be patient, sis. It's best you leave him alone," Jeffrey scolded her.
"Why are you taking his side?"
"Because he's the one cooking for us. We have no right to complain."
"Can you guys argue somewhere else? You're getting on my nerves," I said.
Right now, I was tasked with preparing dinner for the wonder twins. It had become a regular occurrence recently. At first, I only made meals for me and Jeffrey, but then Amelia started showing up, acting like I was her personal chef.
I was making curry while they were pestering me. Once I finished, I divided the meal into bowls and placed them on a tray. I carried it to them as they sat around the table.
"Finally!" Amelia exclaimed as she dug in.
"You won't even say thank you?" Jeffrey protested. "Thank you, Sin; it looks delicious."
"Thanks," Amelia said, patting me on the shoulder as I sat down beside her.
"So... how do you feel about going back to school tomorrow? You know you're kind of famous now," she added.
"Don't talk with your mouth full, are you kid?"
She patted her chest, trying to swallow her food so she could speak again; sometimes I forgot she was just a high school girl.
"I'm still surprised you beat Rizor. The whole class has been in an uproar about it," Jeffrey interjected.
"Is that so?"
"Yeah, you're all anyone can talk about. They're calling you our class leader now. I've been getting loads of questions about you."
"Like what?"
"Like what middle school you went to, what your favorite food is, and what type of girls you like?"
"Just don't let it all go to your head. I can't imagine you being a bigger jerk than you are now," Amelia said.
Leader of Class D, huh? I wondered what the other classes had to say about it.
"Have you spoken to Liam...?" I asked. But Jeffrey didn't answer. His head was down, staring at the table. I glanced over at Amelia, but she was frozen just like Jeffrey. What's happening? I thought to myself. I looked at the clock and saw that it wasn't moving either. I lifted the spoon in my hand and then released it. Instead of falling, it hung frozen in the air. I didn't know how, but for some reason, time had completely stopped.
"Mind if I join you?" a voice called out.
I didn't need to turn my head to see who it was; I recognized that voice. My mind began racing with different possibilities—he was supposed to be dead.
"You're wondering how I'm still alive."
"Not really."
"Liar. I can tell by the way you're acting. You really thought it would be that easy. I had already made preparations before I went to meet you."
"So that's your ability, huh? Time dilation. It's nothing but a cheap trick." I got up from my seat to face the visitor. "I can kill you as many times as it takes, Leto Manasseh."
"You're right. This is nothing but a cheap trick. Just wait until you see the full extent of what I can do. Just remember, I've already seen your best. I came here to give you a warning: I'll kill you. You won't know when, how, or where. Just know that I'll kill you. You'll spend the rest of your time at this school looking over your shoulder. And when I'm done, I'll go after whichever horseman is pulling your strings." Leto turned to walk away but paused for a moment. "Oh, and stay away from that girl, Ava. Stop dragging innocent people into your mess." With that, he left.
After Leto was gone, time resumed as before, and I sat back down in my chair to finish the conversation I was having with Jeffrey and Amelia as if nothing had happened.
The next morning, after I finished my meditation, I put on my uniform and left for school with Jeffrey and Amelia.
As Jeffrey and I entered the classroom, I was bombarded with stares. I paid them no mind and headed to my seat.
"You see? What did I tell you? You've gotten popular," Jeffrey whispered to me.
At lunch, Jeffrey and I were approached by Liam.
"Welcome back! I'm sure your classmates are glad to have you back."
"I'm not so sure about that."
"Well, anyway, I was going to have lunch with some friends from my class. I was wondering if you'd like to join us."
I didn't see the point in having lunch with them, so I thought I'd pass.
"Sure, that would be great!" Jeffrey blurted out before I could reject Liam's offer.
When we got to the table, Mia and Ava were already seated. Ava seemed displeased at my presence and wasted no time in letting me know.
"What is he doing here?!" she shouted, pointing her finger at me.
"I invited him to have lunch with us," Liam replied. "Do you two know each other?"
"Not really; we've only met that one time."
"Oh, okay then. Let's have a seat."
I hesitantly took a seat at the table. These three weren't my favorite people in the world, but Jeffrey seemed excited.
"That girl is stunning, isn't she?" he whispered to me, looking at Ava with googly eyes. "Liam is so lucky. It's like he's building a harem."
"I'm guessing you're wondering why I invited you to lunch. It's about what happened at the tournament."
"You mean how Sin beat Rizor? I was surprised he won too." Jeffrey intercepted.
"Yes, that's what I mean. Some of the other classes are suspicious of you. I mean, why did you pretend to be weak so you could be placed in Class D? It doesn't make any sense."
"I'm guessing you're the leader of Class A now that Rizor is no longer a problem," I replied, purposefully dodging his question. "Or is there someone strong enough to compete against you?"
"Yes, I am the leader of Class A. You beating Rizor has nothing to do with it; no one in our class would willingly follow him. What I want to know is about you, so will you answer our question?"
"No, I won't. Us being in different classes makes us enemies. There's no doubt there will be other events where we'll be forced to compete against one another. So giving up crucial information would be rather idiotic."
"I take it then that you're the leader of Class D?"
"Something like that."
Just then, a loud alarm blared throughout the school.
