Heavens' Laughter-Chapter 108: Water
Arriving at the battered flying ship, Anita Mui dismounted his steed, his boots landing firmly on the weathered deck.
"What the fuck happened here?" He asked himself.
The air was thick with the acrid scent of burning wood and smoldering metal, and the faint hum of the flying ship’s dying engines reverberated beneath Anita Mui’s feet.
Taking a moment to assess his surroundings, his sharp gaze swept over the fractured hull and the chaotic mess of broken railings and loose cables that dangled precariously overhead.
Anita Mui’s eyes narrowed as they locked onto a door leading below deck, its hinges barely holding it in place as it hung ajar.
From within the darkened interior, the muffled sound of desperate screams were heard.
"No! Please! I have a fami—!?"
"Get away from me! You monst—!?"
"No! No! No! This isn’t rea—!?"
Seconds later, the screamed died down…
Without hesitation, Anita Mui advanced toward the doorway, his hand instinctively brushing the hilt of the weapon at his side.
As he reached the doorway, a sudden, sharp instinct gripped him—a warning he couldn’t ignore:
"Hmm!?"
Without thinking, Anita Mui threw himself to the right in a swift, fluid motion.
A blinding wave of Qi erupted from the darkened doorway, tearing through the space he had just occupied.
The energy streaked upward, surging into the sky before detonating in a deafening burst that sent shockwaves rippling through the flying ship.
The flying ship groaned and shuddered under the force, its damaged frame straining to hold together.
"Shit… This is bad," Anita Mui muttered under his breath, his voice barely audible.
He knew the flying ship could give out at any moment.
It was a miracle it was still hovering, its engines sputtering and barely keeping it from plunging nose-first into the ground far below.
Anita Mui considered the destruction such a crash would unleash.
After all, if the ship fell, it wouldn’t just mean their deaths; it would turn the citizens below desperate escape into a slaughter.
Anita Mui clenched his fists, forcing himself to push aside the rising panic:
"No way I’m letting that happen!"
And so…
Anita Mui’s gaze remained fixed on the doorway, his body tense and ready to react.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows—a young man stepping out with an unsettling calm, his hands clasped behind his back.
His body was drenched in blood, the top half of his robe torn to shreds, leaving his pale skin streaked crimson.
A wide, manic grin stretched across the young man’s face, a crazed glint flickering in his golden eyes.
Anita Mui reacted instantly, his instincts taking over as he drew his sword:
"DIE FOR ME!"
Anita Mui’s feet then glided across the deck in a seamless motion, aided by his water technique, leaving faint ripples in his wake.
He swung his blade, aiming to sever the young man’s head in a single, decisive strike.
But just as the sword’s edge came within inches of its target, a sudden, blinding pain exploded in Anita Mui’s skull:
"What the fuc—!?"
Anita Mui’s vision blurred as he felt his eyes bulge from the sheer force of an unseen blow.
Glancing down, his stomach twisted in disbelief as he registered the young man’s fist buried deep in his gut, the impact sending shockwaves through his body.
Before Anita Mui’s could even process the attack, his body was hurled backward like a ragdoll, slamming into the ship’s rear deck with a bone-rattling crash.
The taste of copper flooded his mouth as he coughed up blood, his breath coming in ragged gasps:
"You son of a bitch…"
Gritting his teeth, Anita Mui forced himself to his feet, his trembling hand gripping the hilt of his sword like a lifeline.
Using the weapon as a crutch, he steadied himself.
Feng Shen simply watched as he let out a long, exasperated sigh, shaking his head as if genuinely disappointed.
"What made you think it was a good idea to come alone to a flying ship where the entire crew had already been slaughtered?" he asked, his tone dripping with mockery:
"Wouldn’t it have made sense to bring a full force? Or at least some backup?"
Feng Shen spread his arms wide in a grandiose gesture, his bloodied grin stretching even further, revealing teeth that gleamed:
"You’re making this far too boring for me!"
"Silence, you bastard! I will not allow you to harm the innocent, and I will avenge my brothers of the Crane Empire!" Anita Mui roared.
In a sudden, defiant gesture, he cast his sword aside; the blade clattering.
Clapping his hands together with force, a ripple of energy pulsed through the air around Anita Mui.
His blue eyes darkened to a deep, luminous indigo, glowing with an otherworldly intensity.
Anita Mui’s power surged, and in an instant, rifts began tearing open in the sky all around the flying ship.
From each portal emerged massive, writhing kraken-like arms.
The tentacles swayed and coiled.
"Your life ends here! May you walk the righteous path in your next life!" As those words left Anita Mui’s lips….

The kraken-like arms around the ship sprang to life with terrifying speed.
They lashed out in unison, their sheer force causing the air to ripple as they surged toward the young man.
Feng Shen, who had been idly watching all of this unfold, rolled his eyes:
"Are you serious right now? This is it? What a fucking let down…"
As the nearest kraken-like arm surged toward him, Feng Shen made no effort to dodge.
Instead, he casually raised his hand and caught it mid-strike, the impact reverberating through the deck.
Feng Shen’s grip tightened, his fingers digging deep into its slick flesh, black blood oozing where his nails pierced the skin.
"I swear… Such lowly techniques should never be practiced…" Without hesitation, Feng Shen leaned in and sank his teeth into the writhing appendage, biting down with brutal force.
The kraken arm quivered under his grip, its violent thrashing slowing momentarily.
The other kraken arms, undeterred, swung toward Feng Shen in a synchronized assault.
But with almost playful disdain, he used the captured arm as a shield, whipping it around alongside himself.
The collision of kraken arms sent shockwaves through the flying ship, the deck trembling violently under the strain as it clashed.
Anita Mui stared in mild disbelief:
"Impossible… He’s playing around with my Kraken Immortal Arms technique!?"
Anita Mui’s gaze narrowed, anger simmering beneath the surface:
"This bastard… It seems I have no choice but to stop holding back."
Snapping out of his daze, Anita Mui let out a sharp whistle.
The kraken arms, which had been flailing and striking, suddenly straightened and went upward, retreating back into the sky.
"Hmm?" Feng Shen found himself lifted high in the air, far above the flying ship.
Anita Mui’s lips curled into a faint smile, as he clapped his hands together once more.
The moment his palms connected, the kraken arm that the young man had sunk his teeth into dissolved into nothingness, vanishing as if it had never existed.
With no support, Feng Shen plummeted from the sky, his body twisting in freefall toward the trembling deck below.
But it wasn’t long before a cloud materialized beneath him, lifting him gently from his fall.
Feng Shen floated effortlessly back down to the deck, landing with a casual grace.
As he stood, he fixed his gaze on the man in front of him. It was as though he were looking at the most foolish of fools, his eyes narrowing with bemusement.
"Are you kidding me?" Feng Shen scoffed, his voice dripping with incredulity:
"You really thought that would work?"
Feng Shen threw his head back and let out a mocking laugh:
"It seems you’ve never fought anyone strong, have you? Then again, I suppose that makes sense… considering you’re part of the Crane Empire’s army."
Clenching his teeth, Anita Mui’s grip on his composure began to slip a little:
"You…"
Anita Mui’s’s Qi flared uncontrollably, spiraling outward in violent waves.
"Don’t look down on me, you unorthodox bastard!" he bellowed, his voice full of fury:
"And I will not allow you to defile the honor of the Crane Empire’s army! We guard the Upper Realm from vile scum like you!"
With a sudden, sharp motion, Anita Mui pointed his finger forward:
"Die for me!"
It was at that moment; it began to rain…
Feng Shen looked up, a glimmer of amusement dancing in his golden eyes.
As the rain began to pour down in sheets, he tilted his head back, letting the cool water wash over him, cleansing the blood from his skin.
Feng Shen then closed his eyes for a brief moment, savoring the sensation, before opening his mouth to catch a few gulps of water. Your journey continues on novelbuddy
"Wow~ You can make it rain?" he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "So strong, so cool!"
"Laugh all you want! Your life will soon end!" Anita Mui spoke.
The armor he wore began to shift and ripple, morphing into water, flowing around him like a living entity.
Anita Mui’s muscles tensed as he stretched his neck, feeling the weight of the transformation wash over him.
The sensation was overwhelming - as the water infused every fiber of his being, heightening his senses and amplifying his strength.
Anita Mui felt invincible.
