Heaven Refining physique-Chapter 80: Blood core
Chapter 80: Blood core
After finishing every one of them, he looked towards the cave. The sensation that something was looking at him was felt by him when he had finished the last person.
The spirit beast inside had come out of the cave as it had smelled blood.
He could have used a nihility sphere to kill every one of them, but he wanted to test Primal Essence on humans too, not to mention continuously using a nihility sphere would drain a lot of his spirit qi. Unless necessary, he liked preserving his spiritual qi.
In necessary moments, even a 1-second delay in recovery could create a dangerous situation for anyone.
Also, he wasn’t going to hide from this beast anyway. He wanted to kill it to obtain its core; he wanted to see if there were any differences in getting laws from spirit herbs and blood cores of spirit beasts or not.
He was about to go inside the cave, but since it had come out itself, it didn’t matter now.
It was a snake of greenish-blue color; it was far bigger than him, about 15 meters long.
The snake was still standing a little far away. It was definitely sensing danger from Jiang Hao, so it didn’t attack Jiang Hao directly, but Jiang Hao didn’t give it a chance to think more and threw a nihility sphere at it.
The moment the beast saw him create nihility, it already became alert, and when he threw it, it dodged immediately.
Jiang Hao knew it would be able to dodge that. Snake-type beasts are quite flexible, not to mention this one was at the peak of Grade 3, almost closer to his physical strength.
So, using a nihility sphere from now on would be wasteful unless he was certain that he could hit it.
Jiang Hao covered both of his hands in Primal Essence and lunged at it.
The snake hissed and released a green toxic gas in his direction. Jiang smiled when he saw that; poison was the last thing he was worried about.
The moment he entered the green gas, he felt his clothes dissolve immediately, and his skin also got corroded, but it healed immediately. When he came out of the gas, he was naked.
Jiang Hao was speechless. He thought that this gas was only poisonous, but he was wrong; it was also corrosive in nature.
He looked at the snake in annoyance. He didn’t have many pairs of clothes in his ring; only one more pair was left. He never felt the need to buy more.
Looks like he had to buy them now. He shook his head and moved again. Now he didn’t care even if the gas was corrosive or not; he was already naked, so it wouldn’t matter anyway.
The beast still used its attacks, even knowing that it wasn’t effective, because it didn’t want to let Jiang Hao come too close, as it had sensed extreme danger from his hands.
It was using its attack as a smokescreen to dodge Jiang Hao while moving away from him in the other direction once it blinded him with its attack.
Jiang sighed; it was really annoying. Dodging the attack wasn’t an option, even if he knew that it was coming with his battle sense, as it was gaseous in nature and covered a lot of space.
And once he entered the attack, he had to close his eyes too; they got corroded much faster than his skin. Also, even if he was able to open his eyes, it wouldn’t be easy to see through this green mist.
"Let’s see how long you can keep it up."
Jiang Hao wasn’t worried about losing spirit qi due to Primal Essence, as it didn’t take much of his qi anyway, unlike the nihility sphere. He was sure he could last longer than this snake easily.
As expected, after some more scuffles, the amount of gas released by the snake kept decreasing before it wasn’t able to use it; its blood qi had been drained.
Jiang Hao 1looked at it and moved again, this time with his full speed.
The beast was already out of options, so it used its tail to hit Jiang Hao.
When he saw that, he smiled. The tail was moving quite fast, but instead of dodging it, he punched at it.
The moment his fist, covered in Primal Essence, struck the tail, it went through like it had touched air instead of the solid tail of the snake.
But the tail was quite big, and it was enough to cover the whole of Jiang Hao, so even if his hand got through it, it only created a small hole. Since the tail was moving at tremendous speed, it struck him.
The force of impact was enough to send him flying like a bug; he got embedded into the opposite wall.
Jiang Hao sighed when he got embedded into the wall. This much was nothing compared to how Senior Huan used to hit them.
He didn’t even feel the pain; it didn’t even crack his bones.
He pushed himself out and saw that instead of coming for another attack, the snake was running outside; it had already crossed the river.
Jiang Hao shook his head and threw a nihility sphere immediately.
It was a bad move by this beast. Dodging a nihility sphere without seeing it was impossible unless it had the same peerless instincts as Jiang Hao, which could alarm him from unknown fatal dangers.
It looked like the beast thought that it would take more time for him to recover from the last attack, and it would be enough for it to run away.
The nihility sphere landed at the halfway point of the snake beast; it was enough to separate its whole body into two.
Hissssss!
With a loud hiss, it thrashed itself here and there. Even its tail, which got separated, thrashed itself with muscle memory.
If Jiang Hao wanted, he could have hit the head of the beast, but it might have destroyed the blood core.
He didn’t know where it was. Mainly, it is found in the middle of the chest area, but some beasts, like this snake-type beast, have it in their neck or head.
So, for safety, he aimed at its middle.
He appeared in front of its head. Although it was separated, it was still alive, and when it saw Jiang Hao, it tried to bite him. Jiang Hao clenched his fists and, without using Primal Essence, hit it at the top of its head while dodging its bite easily.
Thumppp!
Thuddddd!
His punch was powerful enough to make its mouth close and push it to hit the ground hard.
The thrashing stopped immediately, while Jiang Hao landed on it with his knees, giving it one more deadly blow.
He jumped away and looked at it; it was dead.
Jiang Hao went near it and took out a Grade 5 knife, which he got from Huan Caiyi recently, and plunged it into its neck and tore it off from its body.
As expected, he saw a green core embedded in its neck. The blood cores of beasts are different from human blood cores.
Humans’ blood cores depend on the cultivation technique they use to temper their bodies; they don’t get skills from their blood cores—they have to learn them separately.
Beasts have their lineage of bloodlines inside their blood cores; their core contains their laws. This greenish blood core is definitely related to poison and corrosion laws.
Jiang Hao took it out and refined it instantly. He didn’t get much qi from a Grade 3 beast to feel a significant increase in his cultivation, but he definitely felt an improvement in his understanding of poison and corrosion laws. This was the first time he had refined something related to these laws.
He also came to one conclusion: beast blood cores provide more law fragments than a spirit herb of the same level.
He looked at the body of the snake and took out the bladder; it was the second-best resource from the blood cores inside a snake-type beast.
He refined all of its body into pure spirit qi and absorbed it. His mind again went against the thought he had while refining the humans: should he have absorbed them too?.
Forget it, he sighed after thinking a little while. He wasn’t short on resources right now to consider that option. Since it repulsed him even a little, he wouldn’t consider that option.
After refinement, he went to see the herbs; they weren’t matured yet.
Spirit herbs’ maturity is just like a breakthrough in cultivators; they will get immense qi stored inside them once they mature. It’s similar to how the heavens reward cultivators for breaking through.
The spirit herbs here were all similar: a Grade 3 water-attributed spirit herb.
Usually, grades are decided by their type, but even a Grade 3 spirit herb can become a Grade 4 spirit herb if it matures too much.
This is similar to breaking through to the next realm in cultivators.
But the time taken for a spirit herb to reach a level where it can break through to the next level is immense—so much that it is almost impossible for someone to raise their spirit herb to the next level in their whole lifetime.
There were only a few herbs that would mature in a week, and spirit herbs of this grade weren’t enough to make him wait for them.
