He Wouldn't Claim Me — Another Man Did-Chapter 137 - 124: Wife
Isla Prescott only found out later that while she had been away on a business trip, Shane Sterling had already visited Susan Dudley in North Lane, his arms full of gifts.
According to her mother, Susan Dudley, the day Shane Sterling came to visit was the busiest time for her shop.
Without a word, Shane Sterling rolled up his sleeves and started helping out.
Who would have thought a rich young man like him would be so deft at clearing plates and wiping tables?
That entire morning, Shane Sterling bustled about the shop. Thanks to him, Susan Dudley and Mrs. Dudley finally had a chance to catch their breath.
For the next week, Shane Sterling made time every morning to go to the shop. During Susan Dudley’s spare moments, he gradually and honestly explained everything: his family background, his relationship with Isla Prescott, and even the circumstances of their previous breakup.
Susan Dudley saw a rare sincerity in Shane Sterling. As a mother, she felt completely at ease entrusting Isla Prescott to a man like him.
After his successful proposal, Shane Sterling began planning the wedding.
He didn’t want Isla Prescott to worry about a thing, so he quietly took charge of all the wedding planning. Isla made the major decisions, while he handled all the minor details.
Shane Sterling and Isla Prescott’s wedding was held in a castle in Veridia.
They chose Veridia because it is a country where divorce is not permitted. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
The wedding was an intimate affair, attended only by their closest family and friends. In addition to Susan Dudley, Jude Dudley, and their family, Audrey Hughes and everyone from her side of the family were there. Even Ezra Sterling made a rare appearance.
Isla Prescott’s bridesmaids were her sister, Sienna Prescott, and Annabelle Leighton. Shane Sterling’s groomsmen were Silas Lockwood and Ivan Fulton. In addition to the bridal party, Isla’s two roommates and her coworkers from the studio all flew in on a private jet arranged by Shane, arriving in Veridia the day before the wedding.
Although the guest list was small, Shane Sterling spared no expense or effort on any aspect of the wedding.
He just wanted it to be the most unforgettable day of Isla Prescott’s life.
And he succeeded.
Like all the other guests, Isla Prescott didn’t see what the venue actually looked like until the day of the ceremony. For her, every part of the wedding was a surprise, like opening a blind box.
When it came time for the wedding vows, Shane Sterling cried.
From the proposal to the wedding, Shane Sterling had shed tears twice, letting Isla Prescott see just how much he cherished her.
Isla Prescott didn’t cry. That day, she was so happy she smiled from beginning to end.
The whole wedding was perfect, with only one minor mishap during the bouquet toss. On the first throw, the bouquet accidentally hit Silas Lockwood as he was getting up to go to the restroom.
Silas Lockwood stared blankly at the bouquet that had landed in his hands. Finally, amid the grumbles of the single women, he returned it to the bride, Isla Prescott.
Isla Prescott tossed it again. This time, it was caught by Annabelle Leighton.
Annabelle Leighton jumped up and down with excitement.
"Looks like there’s hope for me and Officer Hayes! When I get back, I’m definitely making him mine!"
Annabelle’s comment made everyone laugh.
As the laughter continued, music began to play, and the after-party kicked off.
Isla Prescott and Shane Sterling changed out of their wedding attire and shared their first dance as a married couple.
Shane Sterling wasn’t much of a dancer, but Isla Prescott was a natural. With her lead, he gradually found his rhythm.
After the newlyweds’ dance ended, the atmosphere became its most relaxed and lively, and the guests flooded onto the dance floor.
Amidst the joyful laughter, Shane Sterling suddenly turned and kissed Isla Prescott on the temple.
Isla Prescott saw his eyes welling up again. She smiled and pinched his cheek. "What is it now, my crybaby husband?"
"Thank you."
"For what?"
"Thank you for being my wife. I love you."
