Chapter 597: Chapter 597. Revered Ancestor

Noah Civilisation.

Imperial Sector.

In an estate.

A figure with a metallic-looking appearance, yet humanoid and fluid in movement, draped in a white elegant gown, stood in a serene garden with his hands clasped behind his back. Occasional chirping of birds and the sound of running water resounded in the quiet garden from time to time.

A tired sigh escaped his mouth.

"Seriously. These kids will be the end of me." The man was the current emperor of the Noah Civilisation, one of the many machine race Civilisations in the universe.

News had just reached him that the civil war between his children had intensified in the imperial sector.

Children? One may ask. Well, the machine race was not like the mechanical, robotic machine race people read about in novels. They were sentient, human-like, and had emotion. They even had reproductive abilities. However, their physical appearance seemed machine-like.

They had high cognitive abilities, spearheaded industrious technologies among others, and had relationships, married, and gave birth like any other race in the universe. Their reproductive abilities, however, were limited to themselves. For instance, someone of the machine race could not have a reproductive relationship with someone of another race.

Anyway, back to the man in the garden.

The emperor rubbed his forehead in tiredness.

Everything he had worked for?

He had expected his children to live in peace. To honor the first princess and let her take over when he decided his time on the throne was done.

However, he could not have been more wrong.

Power could turn even the most united siblings against one another.

The hearts of sentient beings were like a bottomless abyss—full of endless desires.

"To think I would also be powerless to do anything about this whole situation..."

Emperor Myrion Noah chuckled with melancholy.

"All my children are now more powerful than I am. If I try to intervene, I will be killed. Their mother would have been really disappointed if she were still alive. I have already stepped down anyway. I can only sit back and observe them do what they want."

Suddenly, a mysterious voice echoed in the garden.

"If you had the ability to end this civil war, would you take it?"

This was the voice of a veiled shadow hound, speaking words Kailen had directed him to say.

Kailen had been monitoring the civil war in the imperial sector since he arrived in the Noah Civilisation. He was in a different galaxy of the Noah Civilisation, several light years away from the imperial sector. He would not get directly involved—not after he had read that the machine race didn’t like it when an uninvited external party meddled in their internal matters. His life mattered more to him than this mission.

However, his shadow hounds had been monitoring the situation of the civil war.

All the princes and princesses had taken control of various imperial factions and were fighting one another. It was brutal. Several regions of the imperial sector had already been destroyed. Assassinations. Manipulations. Betrayals. Name them.

He had observed it all.

And had come to a conclusion. The best one.

Only one individual could bring an end to the civil war: the emperor. And the emperor had stepped down. Also, he was currently weak. He didn’t have the necessary strength to subdue his children.

Even the powerful imperial guards that stood by him had left. They had gambled their future on the factions led by the various princes and princesses.

But if the emperor had something that could grant him control of the situation, he would definitely take it.

This was what had led to the current situation.

The emperor was startled.

Who was speaking to him?

He stared everywhere in the garden, stretched his perception outwards, covering wide distances. But he saw nothing, perceived nothing. He was alone.

Why could he not perceive or see this individual, no matter how hard he tried?

Was it some senior?

He regained his composure a moment later and acted with a calm, measured disposition.

If this person was someone that he—a rank 6 intermediate stage universe level powerhouse—could not discern, then he was extremely powerful. The person was most likely a supreme stage universe level powerhouse.

"Senior, this junior greets you respectfully. Your humble junior’s answer to your question: if I had the ability to end the civil war, I would end it."

"Good," the mysterious senior said.

Suddenly, some sort of coin hovered mysteriously in the air. It bore inscriptions in the machine race language. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

"Do you recognize this?"

When Myrion heard the words of the mysterious senior, he looked at the coin closely.

Very soon, he widened his eyes in surprise and shock.

Of course he recognized this. This was a courtesy coin. He had seen it in records of the machine race.

This was given to individuals who had achieved meritorious feats for the machine race. Not only was the receiver treated as a well-received guest, it allowed the holder one permanent request to be granted by the machine race. Once that request was honored, they couldn’t use the coin again to ask for another permanent request. If they tried, the machine race—wherever they were in the universe—would mysteriously know that the courtesy coin bearer had already used that one-time request, and it wouldn’t be honored.

However, the courtesy coin bearer would still be treated as a well-received guest by the machine race wherever they went.

Kailen observed everything through the eyes of the shadow hound. From the emperor’s facial expressions, he used emotional resonance to figure out his thoughts. Everything was going according to plan.

(A/N: if you are wondering how Kailen actually got the courtesy coin, refer to Chapters 311 and 312. Kailen obtained it after the Nyk simulation.)

It was time to use the one-time permanent request the courtesy coin granted.

As for Myrion, he was still processing how the senior had a courtesy coin.

How did this senior have one?

Could it be that this senior was an ancestor of the Noah Civilisation who performed extremely meritorious feats in the past and was granted this coin?

Kailen directed the shadow hound to speak.

"It looks like you have figured out what this is."

"Yes, revered ancestor. This is a courtesy coin," Myrion replied.

"Good. You figured out my identity, and what this is."

On hearing the words of the mysterious senior, Myrion replied, "Yes, senior."

However, inwardly, he was shocked.

"So he really is my ancestor. The courtesy coin also proves that he performed meritorious feats for the machine race in the past. He’s not ordinary."

Kailen smiled, satisfied.

"He’s thinking exactly as I wanted him to think."

The shadow hound spoke again.

"I’ve been observing everything happening for a while. And I have to say, I’m not pleased with what is happening. I want to use this one-time request for this coin to end this civil war as soon as possible. After all, I don’t really have much use for it. When you reach my level, cultivation is all that matters to you."
