He Became A Monstrous Genius After Obtaining A Time Dilation Artifact-Chapter 550. Fear of the unknown
Kailen’s shadow hounds spread across, their invisible forms blending quietly into the void.
No one noticed their presence. Quickly, they scanned the region, as Kailen waited patiently on the moon.
Very soon, through the eyes of one of them, Kailen saw several fleets of ships with skulls on them.
"Skull Chamber of Commerce? It’s them?" Kailen’s eyes narrowed slightly.
The Skull Chamber of Commerce was one of the business organisations in the mid tier Civilisations. They had several branches across a number of empires.
One of their specialties was slave trading. They had mercenary teams that went around capturing unfortunate wanderers in the starry sea, turning them into slaves and selling them on the organisation’s marketing platforms. The group that had attacked him was definitely one of the mercenary teams of the Skull Chamber of Commerce.
"So they wanted to capture me and sell me as some sort of slave, eh?" A glint flashed through Kailen’s eyes.
He didn’t give a damn about their shady business. But since they targeted him, to the point of even destroying his expensive spaceship, he naturally held a grudge.
"Looks like I teleported for a lot of light years. Even though their spaceship is advanced, it cannot locate my presence. Fortunately, they seem to be heading in a different direction. But it does not change the fact that they may suddenly turn my direction and come looking for me. I need to make sure that does not happen."
Kailen made several tears in space and disappeared far away. But he was not just aimlessly running away from the mercenary team of the Skull Chamber of Commerce. He was using the coordinates of the Sacred Corrugation Imperial Empire to travel in the Empire’s direction, and cooking up something.
"Six rank 7 intermediate stage Dao level lifeforms, and one rank 1 supreme stage dao level lifeform."
Currently, hound 3 was in Dreadmaw’s spaceship. Kailen observed, a glint of coldness flashing through his eyes.
"He’s the one who attacked me. Just because I can’t kill him physically does not mean there’s nothing I can do to him."
Meanwhile, in Dreadmaw’s spaceship.
"I don’t think we are going in the right direction."
Dreadmaw narrowed his eyes slightly.
"What do you mean, boss?"
"We’ve been searching for him for a while now, but he’s not around the surrounding star systems. Let’s turn to the other direction."
"Boss, we can head back to HQ. Since we can’t find him, no need to stress yourself for us."
"Yeah, boss."
"Idiots, since you want to retire when I leave the team, we can’t let our opportunity to make that happen slip through our fingers."
The group felt very touched. Their boss was the best.
Suddenly.... Something felt off.
Their eyes revealed terrified expressions as if they had experienced something very daunting. Just then their eyes turned lifeless.
No wounds ,no signs of physical attack.
They were dead, still in a seated position. Kailen had ordered the shadow hound to kill them with spiritual power. These bastards did not have spiritual power repelling artifacts.
Dreadmaw revealed a trace of anger in his eyes. What the hell had just happened?Although he had a family, his crew members were like his children. What bastard had killed them?
Also, even he, a rank 1 supreme stage dao level lifeform, could not sense the person’s presence.
This meant that the person was more powerful than himself.
A trace of fear appeared in his eyes. Through the eyes of the shadow hound, Kailen observed with satisfaction. Everything was going according to plan. The fear of the unknown was very terrifying.
Kailen remembered when he had used a similar scheme during one simulation in the past, where he was the Red Commander.
This time, he would be using a similar scheme in the real world.
"A mere rank 1 supreme stage dao level lifeform dared to attack my disciple? You Skull Chamber of Commerce dipshits really think you can throw your weight around anywhere and at any time you want, don’t you?"
The shadow hound voiced, authoritative like a disgusted senior, just like Kailen had commanded, presence completely veiled.
"Shit."
Dreadmaw cursed inwardly. Damn it... why did he have to listen to these bastards to go after someone he didn’t have to go against. Turns out that youngster was backed by a terrifying senior.
He was almost due for a promotion. Was he about to die just like that, after all the years of hard work?
"Senior, it’s all a misunderstanding. Your junior is just an ant who does not understand the difference between heaven and earth. Kindly forgive this stupid junior for attacking your disciple. If you let me go, the Skull Chamber of Commerce will compensate you greatly."
Kailen scoffed, observing everything through the eyes of the shadow hound. Let him go? Compensate? Did he take Kailen for a fool?
"Self-detonate yourself. And your slave transport ships won’t be harmed. Your death and that of your crew members is the price for targeting my disciple."
Dreadmaw felt like he had fallen into an endless abyss the moment he heard the words of the senior.
Kailen caught on to something through emotional resonance. From the emotional expression on Dreadmaw’s face, Kailen knew his thoughts. The moment Kailen said he should self-detonate himself, else Kailen would destroy the transport ships too, Dreadmaw was thinking about his family and what would happen to them if the slave transport ships did not return safely. The Skull Chamber of Commerce would kill his whole family.
Kailen decided to make use of that fear.
"You don’t want the Skull Chamber of Commerce to kill your whole family, right? I’m showing you enough mercy here."
Dreadmaw revealed a pained and terrified expression at the words of the senior. Indeed, this senior even knew about the inner workings of the Skull Chamber of Commerce. This person was terrifying.
The senior continued, "Just kill yourself and I will allow the slave transport ships to go in peace. At the very least, your family won’t be harmed, and they may even be compensated. However, if you delay any further, all the fleet of ships will die in addition to yourself. Forget it, I’ve given you enough patience. I don’t like senseless killing, but since you are still ada—"
"I will do it, senior."
Dreadmaw made a very grim decision. His wife, his children. They had to be safe.
Heh. Was this karma? He had ruined the lives of countless people, travelling through the starry seas, and made them slaves without freedom.
To think his end would be this pathetic.
Things would have been different if he had just been content with the gains of this hunt. Instead, he had to listen to his crew members. Now he had offended someone he should not have offended by targeting someone with a terrifying backing, and this was the outcome.
Worst part was, there was no way for the Skull Chamber of Commerce to avenge him. The senior had completely masked his presence and could not be seen anywhere. It seemed the senior was probably somewhere far away but had been keeping track of his disciple. He had just retaliated from wherever he was, and could not even be bothered to make an actual appearance for a small fry like him, Dreadmaw.
He only had the picture of the disciple of the senior from the signal his spaceship had sent when the fellow was discovered. A blonde haired human with blue eyes.
He had sent it to HQ, alongside what was ensuing between him and the veiled senior at the moment.
If he knew Kailen had changed his appearance, he would spit blood and die.
Also, even if the organisation was able to find some leads from the picture of the blonde haired fellow, would they risk offending the mysterious expert behind him, when they didn’t even know who he was?
Definitely not! The Skull Chamber of Commerce has thrived for this long because they were not stupid. They chose their enemies carefully.
They were not naive, cliché, and stupid. This was not a novel, it was reality.
At the moment, Dreadmaw commanded,
"All ships move ahead."
The moment the ships were away from him, he self-detonated himself after letting out a depreciating chuckle. His spaceship blew into smithereens.
Several stars and asteroids in the vicinity were destroyed from the explosion.
"The self-detonation of a rank 1 supreme stage dao level lifeform is indeed no joke."
Kailen sighed as he observed from a distant location, somewhere on a moon.
